Glass garden table top - heating up

Just wondered if something like this should carry a warning in the advert or the pacakaging.

My Mum went and bought a small set for the garden last week. I noticed at the weekend with the unusually hot weather, that the glass top gets quite hot to touch being sat in the sun. So muvch so that you would remark "Ohh" and pull away if you'd put your arm on it. I commented that we would need to be careful with DS (almost 4) around so he doesnt catch himself on it as it felt quite hot. My Mum said "Oh I didnt think about that!"

I chalked it up as one of those impulse things my Mum buys without thinking it through and forgot about it. My Mum said a short while later she would have a word with Wilkos as she doesn't think it safe. I said "It's a glass table that's been sat in the sun, what else would you expect other than it to get hot - don't worry"

It niggled a bit because I suppose in some ways my Mum is right? No where do it say on the ad above that the table top is glass, or gives a warning about exposure to heat.

It's by the by now as she's bought a small waxproof table cover to avoid any issues but wondered if anyone had any thoughts on it?

You must be reading a different thread Etino She does have a history of rushing into buying things without thinking things though. That's not nasty. It's a fact.

Ooo! I want a little Bistro set for my top patio, that's a bargain

ThePlanetGoesOnBeingRound3 Let me know if he box has a warning on it Grin My Mum was most excited that they did delivery too as she doesn't drive. I don't work for Wilkos... honest!

Double glazed windows don't get as hot because the same principle that keeps the heat in, also keeps them from heating up too much.

ClaudiaWankleman Nice one.

The only reason I posted that item description was because you put the following in an earlier post:

No where do it say on the ad above that the table top is glass.

But if your mum is as ditsy as you say then she won't have read the description.

CheeseAndTomSandwich I must admit, I did miss it myself. I looked at the materials list which only states metal and plastic. Perhaps it needs to be in bold for us nitwits out there. And no, she won't have read it. Looks and price will be all that she saw.
