Music has never given me goosebumps

AIBU?
Is this an expression or do people actually get goosebumps???
I have been moved by music, both emotionally and in terms of wanting to dance etc. but never had goosebumps. Always wondered if people actually do. Think sometimes they say hair stands up too?

Yep I get it often... In fact the last time was the final audition on bgt today!

iklboo · 19/05/2018 22:57

Oh crikey yes. Certain notes can make me burst into tears Blush

Storminateapot · 19/05/2018 22:57

Yes it does for me. Usually classical or choral music rather than popular stuff.

Mrsknackered · 19/05/2018 22:58

I do often, doesn’t mean I always like it though.

My friend also said this, but she also doesn’t like music and I think is the only person I know like that, listens to podcasts but has never had any connection with music.

Yes. I get goosebumps with certain music, I also cry at others.

Bambamber · 19/05/2018 22:59

I literally get goosebumps. Doesn't even have to be music I'm necessarily enjoying either, I can just be listening to something random and it's almost like a shiver goes through my whole body and I get goosebumps

MrsJayy · 19/05/2018 22:59

Yes i have had actual goosebumps from music, aww he was wonderful on BGT he made me cry bless him

Hobbitbobbit · 19/05/2018 23:00

Definitely actual goosebumps and sometimes instant tears! Even a solo singing voice can do that sometimes.

NameChangedForThisQ · 19/05/2018 23:00

Yes goosebumps. Mostly gospel music even though I'm not a Christian Hmm also tears

MrsJayy · 19/05/2018 23:02

I went to see Evita the other week I got goosebumps from Don't cry for md Argentina then burst into tears

MrsJayy · 19/05/2018 23:03

I don't think you have to be Christian to enjoy Gospel music

Brazenhussy0 · 19/05/2018 23:06

Yup goosebumps here too, mostly for a good guitar solo or perfect vocal harmonies.

There will be something that does it for you, OP. You just haven't heard it yet Smile

CustardOmlet · 19/05/2018 23:08

I don’t like Mariah Carey but she can hit certain notes that gives me goosebumps, it’s odd!

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 19/05/2018 23:09

Little Girl Blue by Janis Joplin makes me want to bawl.

SilverHairedCat · 19/05/2018 23:13

Absolutely. Usually classical or soulful music. There is no feeling like it for me, it's exhilaration, joy and beauty and sometimes pain in one.

MrsJayy · 19/05/2018 23:13

Dd did a music technology degree her disertation (sp) was on physical /emotional response to music she told me why you get goosebumps but I forget Blush I will ask her next time I see her.

KirstenRaymonde · 19/05/2018 23:16

Regularly. Goosebumps, tingling, often a few tears too.

HeresMeh · 19/05/2018 23:16

I listened to 'black' and 'alive' by Pearl Jam today and it gets me every damn time! Goosebumps, tears, stomach flutters!

Also, the album 'Funeral' by Arcade Fire... especially if your a lyrics person rather than melody!

SheepyFun · 19/05/2018 23:30

No, me neither, and I've passed grade 8

MalcolmsBrokenWalrusMoneybox · 19/05/2018 23:31

I occasionally get goosebumps from listening to music.

PickAChew · 19/05/2018 23:36

I don't get goosebumps but I do get mentally transported into a very different place from where I'm sitting.

Just put on Yorkston Thorn & Khan's "Everything Sacred" album, so it's taken me much longer than it should to type this. It's just gorgeous.

drigon · 19/05/2018 23:38

I get a shivery feeling throughout my head/brain as a responsible to certain lyrics/music. I do take anti-depressants though, so it could be a serotonin rush or something like that!

drigon · 19/05/2018 23:39

Response, obviously!

Apanicaday · 19/05/2018 23:42

I do - and tingly feelings. More so when I'm playing in an orchestra, but also when listening to some things.
