Music has never given me goosebumps

AIBU?
Is this an expression or do people actually get goosebumps???
I have been moved by music, both emotionally and in terms of wanting to dance etc. but never had goosebumps. Always wondered if people actually do. Think sometimes they say hair stands up too?

Yep, goosebumps and shivers.

Storm4star · 19/05/2018 23:45

I actually don’t feel anything with music. Never have. Never get an urge to dance, it doesn’t make me feel any emotions. Now I just don’t listen to it at all. In fact most music now grates on me like nails on a chalkboard. It’s difficult as most people love music. I love silence!

Google 'Halo -LP Cover'.
That voice wrecks me every time.
I love music, very diverse tastes. John Mayer and Jason Mraz floor me live.
You need to find 'your music', I think.

I'm sure I read somewhere probably cracked that the physical response to music was actually genetic, or innate at least. I have it, I also have comfort music, also comfort books. It does take me quite a long time to warm to new music though, very little new stuff catches my ear.

SecretNutellaFix · 20/05/2018 00:27

Oh yes, definitely happens to me.

Most recently was when I was introduced to Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence.

The first I remember it happening was when I was 11 and performing a solo in the School Christmas Concert. It was John Rutter's Angel's carol.

Some Christian music, The Star Spangled Banner, Yorktown from Hamilton all give me goosebumps and tears.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_sensory_meridian_response

This explains it quite well.

Brass bands and Male Voice Choirs (especially singing Calon Lan) make me cry.

Sunnysidegold · 20/05/2018 08:01

Actually think I've confused myself here...there is little mention of music! Oops.

ForalltheSaints · 20/05/2018 08:04

Yes, on a few occasions it has. Two come straight to mind- the first time I heard 'Some Fantastic Place' by Squeeze, the second when I walked into a church in Fussen in Germany and a male voice choir were rehearsing.

I got goosebumps when how Cellist played Ave María yesterday at the wedding , it was so beautiful.

CustardOmlet · 20/05/2018 08:20

@insancerre Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt gets me, it feels like it was written for him!
