To think most people wouldn't swap lives with a Royal?

I think the scrutiny would just be too much and would prefer to keep my anonymity.

Would you swap your life for a life as a major Royal (e.g. Kate Middleton)?

of course they have a choice, they can leave. They can become nobodys away from the limelight if they really want to, and with a fairly healthy bank account too People born in the gutter don't have the choice and freedom of suddenly becoming ultra-privileged.

It might be hard choice, they might think they have responsibilities and a few ribbons to cut, but of course they have a choice.

No i'd hate to feel unfulfilled and so lacking in ambition. The royals don't have to try hard, everything's given them on a plate. I'd actually feel pretty worthless and i'd hate having to live off the backs of others.

WidoWanky · 18/05/2018 22:21

The only person i would swap with, and only for a night or two 😇😇😇 would be MM. But thats because PH has been my secret crush for years. I think he is lovely😍

LivingMyBestLife · 18/05/2018 22:26

No way - I've always said you couldn't pay me to be Kate Middleton or any of her family. I wouldn't want every detail of my appearance to be forensically examined every time I stepped out of the house and her family get the same treatment. Can you imagine your life being mapped out for you the way the Royals is - the functions, duties, etc. No palace would make up for that IMO.

I'm sure the royals convince themselves that they're doing a great job for all the money they get off us, but the country would tick along just the same without them. Theyre surplus to requirements imo.

The80sweregreat · 18/05/2018 22:28

No thanks. Staying poor and anonymous.

EveningShadows · 18/05/2018 22:29

Of course! A life of total privilege and no work - and if get to do loads of charity work without having to worry about how to pay my mortgage!

Kate and Meghan have both chosen it so it can’t be that bad!!

IDSNeighbour · 18/05/2018 22:30

I'd be Kate - not so much because of who she is but because of what she has. A husband who loves her, three gorgeous kids, pretty, thin, lots of money, lots of time. I don't have/am not any of those things. I'd swap in a heartbeat.

Most of the other royals - no.

londonrach · 18/05/2018 22:31

No way!!! Never, nope. Im vvv happy to be able to walk sown the street and no notice me.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/05/2018 22:33

I don’t think it’s the right question Grin

Should we, as a modern country, have people born into such enormous hereditary privelege and should they rule/represent us?
I don’t think so.

Iftheshoefits · 18/05/2018 22:34

Nope. I like my freedom too much!

Notthatwomanagain · 18/05/2018 22:35

The worst bit for me would be the events- those awful evening dos where you have to dress up and make small talk whilst eating rich food you may not like (and then barely eating the next day to stay newsworthy thin) when all you want to do is go home, have a bath and put your pyjamas on

That recent trip Kate and Wills did when she was pregnant and they had to stay with and have meals with dignitaries and other royals- I kept thinking how much I’d hate that.

I’m far too socially awkward to be a royal- I would loathe speech making too.

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2018 22:35

Yeah those poor poor privileged, rich, indulged, unqualified, unelected, self-obssessed, entitled royals, I don’t know how they do it.

Branleuse · 18/05/2018 22:37

no I wouldn't swap with them. I couldn't live with myself for a start as I am strongly anti monarchy

ForalltheSaints · 18/05/2018 22:37

No thank you. I like being anonymous on public transport or at concerts, theatre or the cinema.

biscuitraider · 18/05/2018 22:38

Yes but when you think about it, aren't all our lives mapped out for us, but in a different ( and more arduous) way,. We all have to go to work on the same days each week, year in year out, but with far less financial reward. The functions and duties of the royals aren't even one day a week, and it could hardly be called work, if only we could all have such leisurely lifestyles.

It wouldn't do for me, but they obviously love it.

Murane · 18/05/2018 22:38

I'd swap lives in a heartbeat. To be rich and live in a mansion or palace, have nannies and not have to look after kids all the time (and be able to sleep!), the best schools and hobbies and opportunities for the kids, an army of chefs and hairdressers etc to beautify me... what's not to like?

Helmetbymidnight · 18/05/2018 22:43

It is kind of awesome how the richest, most privileged people in the land have so many people feel sorry for them.

Now that’s admirable.

snotato · 18/05/2018 22:49

No way Jose! I don’t want everybody looking at me all the time and judging my every move, and all the shite that goes with fame. I’ll pay not to be famous any day.
Fame is a fucking hard road to go down.

HairyToity · 18/05/2018 22:59

No. The money would be nice though. A minor royal would be tolerable.

biscuitraider · 18/05/2018 23:06

But the ones that have it don't ever seem to want to lose it, they literally revel in it, even when they've made their fortune.

blackteasplease · 18/05/2018 23:10

I might. Ideal would be a short term swap and you could change back when you felt like it.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 18/05/2018 23:15

Perfectly said Helmet the Palace propaganda machine does it’s job well.
