I had to catch a 9am train

...Is the excuse my housemate gave me as to why she left the toilet in a state.

Which she does every day...

This time I messaged her politely asking her to clean it after herself.

Her actual words were "I had a 9am train". No apology or embarrassment.

AIBU in thinking what the fuck does catching a 9am train have to do with anything?

AIBU in thinking there is never an excuse not to take five seconds to use the toilet brush, no matter how pushed for time you are? (not debating whether we should have one or not Wink )

AIBU to think I shouldn't have to ask a grown woman to not leave a fucking mess in the toilet on a daily basis (so even if the train thing could have been an excuse, what were the reasons for every other day?!)

Sorry it's gross, I'm just pissed off and I'm moving out. She's a piece of shit. She ate my food and when I called her out on it, again no apology or offer to replace, just "I probably got confused".

Anyone else have crappy housemates?

I'd whatsapp her a photo of the toilet and say "If you leave it like this ever again, I'm posting it on FB, Instagram and Twitter and tagging you ".

Loonoon · 18/05/2018 10:48

Normally I think people who post on MN about dirty houses/housemates are being overly picky, but that's truly disgusting.

Don't clean up after the dirty mare - photo it, send it to her and tell her 'This is how disgusting it is. if this isn't cleaned up when you get home I will be posting it on FB and tagging you. You won't get a warning if it ever happens again'.' It will destroy your relationship but you are moving out anyway.

PositivelyPERF · 18/05/2018 11:56

CocoaGin has the perfect suggestion. If she thinks it isn’t a big deal, then she won’t mind it being posted, will she? 😉😁

9amTrain · 18/05/2018 14:35

Oh it's tempting, believe me!

She has started flushing wet wipes too, which don't flush... I'm going to tell the landlord everything when I leave 😂

Update

I told her I'm moving out and said a lovely girl came to view last week and they plan to sign Monday, you can meet her before September etc and she freaked out and had her friend who was with her to message me, saying the following:

Her: The agency said they haven't received anything from them and since I am staying in the house over the summer and over next year if I have a preference it can overrule anyone

Me: I'm also staying over the summer... Why would you check when I've already told you someone's in the middle of doing it?

Her: Cos i am terrified of a stranger! You never introduced us

Me: You weren't home, otherwise I would have. You will be introduced as she wants to meet you both beforehand anyway.

Her: You still should have considered the fact that we've had past experience with not sufficiently knowing a housemate before them moving in. We all remember how attrocious it was living with *previous housemate as we did not know him sufficiently before and strangers are incredibly anxiety inducing. Have you mentioned that there is a cat and that he is a permanent fixture?

Her friend from her phone: Btw *Sarah is having a panic attack - signed friend

Me: Thats not my problem. And Yes, she is happy about there being a cat. Jesus, chill out, nothing has even happened yet.

She's the reason I'm leaving!!!

Maybe friend can move in and support her through this terrifying experience whilst teaching her basic hygiene and house share etiquette.

penguingirl · 23/05/2018 23:26

Ewwww, what an absolute slob. I'm with the pp who said send pic and threaten to share on social media. I sincerely hope that you can live alone, or at least with civilised folk when you move.

Thehop · 23/05/2018 23:31

She’s a pig.

9amTrain · 26/05/2018 10:00

What the hell am I meant to do about the fact that she is going to automatically reject any replacement I choose, meaning I won't be able to move out on time? The contract (joint) here doesn't end for over a year.

Fuck my life.

Considering this animal is the reason I'm leaving, you would expect her to have the common sense not to get in the way of it.

OP posts:
Emma198 · 26/05/2018 10:07

I'd be honest with her about why you're leaving and hope she'd be embarrassed enough to want you to go. She's unbelievable! Hoovering wet cat litter straight out of the tray?!

9amTrain · 26/05/2018 10:08

@Emma198

You'd think so, but she has no morals. She thinks she's perfect. She's never apologised for anything.

auntyflonono · 26/05/2018 10:14

Start being annoying so she wants to get rid of you? Invent a cat allergy, it's you or the cat!

9amTrain · 26/05/2018 10:14

@auntyflonono

Good idea! ;)

My husband spilt s tub of garlic powder once and hoovered it up. Whole bloody house stank every time we hoovered 🤢

9amTrain · 26/05/2018 10:20

That is gross!!

Trethew · 26/05/2018 10:37

I shared a house with a girl who used to leave used sanitary towels on the toilet floor. A guy who was visiting arranged them in a row on her pillow

PoorYorick · 26/05/2018 10:41

FrancisCrawford...."stalagshite". I think I'm in love.

9amTrain · 28/05/2018 15:01

Ugh. She did it again. I put the toilet brush on top of the toilet with a post-it note "USE IT!!!".

I hope she acknowledges it so I can tell her what a fucking rancid creature she is.

OP posts:
Minisoksmakehardwork · 28/05/2018 15:02

Put it on top of the closed lid. At least then you'll know she's seen it, unless she's peeing in the sink/shower.

9amTrain · 28/05/2018 15:04

@Minisoksmakehardwork

Grin

She can't pee in the shower because it floods within seconds due to her 6 foot long hairs blocking it on a weekly basis.

Which I found out today when I pulled out the equivalent of a wig from the shower drain.

ugh.

agedknees · 28/05/2018 21:28

Clean the toilet with her toothbrush.

ForalltheSaints · 28/05/2018 21:44

Find out which train it is, take a photo and show it to others on the station platform.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 28/05/2018 21:46
