Does Fortnite turn your kid into an arsehole too?

Just banned DS12 off it for life and put the Xbox in the bottom of my wardrobe. He is generally a lovely kid but holy fuck does this game turn him into a monster. And no matter how many times I shout (yes I know) STOP SHOUTING he still continues to bellow at his mates about twatting Spooky Towers or whatever the fuck it is called.

Fucking hell fire.

I haven’t let mine play, their attitudes on blinking Minecraft and Roblox are crappy enough Hmm apparently everyone plays and I’m the meanest Mum EVER. Grin

Piecrust32 · 29/12/2019 15:40

Mine are awful after playing it 10 and 11 yr old , their attitudes towards everyone completely changes.
They get to play it every other day for an hour - apparently that makes me the worst mother 😂 as everyone else is on it 24/7...

I hate it and cannot wait till this trend dies off 🙈

Aw my whole family loves gaming, even me! We have fortnight but dd13 and dd19 prefer PUBG and dd4 as a result generally can take or leave game time. We have no limits usually, and I'd say they play around 10 hours a week??
Roblox tho..... I had to slap a ban on headsets for that one. Really hate that game.

We recently let 10 year old D.C. have it and it’s been surprisingly okay. He’s only allowed an hour on each weekend day though so deffo limited. He also has to come off when we say, so if his teas ready then yes he does have to leave in the middle of a session.
Any breaking of these rules gets him a ban. I still twitch a bit at the whole shooting aspect but he does connect with his friend on it.

My son pays the bills with his fortnite gaming so I'm not complaining. I retired 15 years early lol.

ActualHornist · 12/02/2020 11:51

Honestly no.

I have three kids and two of them play Fortnite, sometimes together sometimes alone. They have three or four school friends that also play. They have timed allowances on the Xbox, and we rarely have issues. They get a fiver pocket money a month, sometimes they ask to spend it on V bucks to buy stuff. I don’t object. Both DH and I are gamers, don’t know if that makes a difference, that they see we’ll engage with family life!
