Anyone live in East London? Wedding related

Posting here for traffic .....

If you are from East London and got married recently where did you have your reception party?

Seriously struggling to find a venue! Ideally want a nice restaurant/family friendly pub type place that isn’t too crazy espensive and has a nice atmosphere - outside space will be a bonus! Only having around 30 family and friends for dinner and then maybe another 20 or so for drinks later.

Any suggestions?!

Save the Date is Dalston based

flugelhorn3 · 17/05/2018 20:44

I second the Drapers Arms, lovely pub!

Heartbreaker83 · 17/05/2018 20:55

Thank you what I’m fairly close to there actually, passed there a few times but never thought of it! I will get in touch with them, I’m intrigued about the Gin fizz story Wink

I second Wilton’s Music Hall. In the highly unlikely event that I get married I would like it to be there.

WhatisaNarwhal · 17/05/2018 21:16

@heartbreaker

It was New Year’s Eve.
I was banned from gin cocktails by the bar staff thereafter.

seekingsun · 17/05/2018 21:17

The horniman museum?

Fridakahlofan · 17/05/2018 21:19

Clissold park or the dead dolls house (walkable from Islington town hall)

Hackney city farm is a lovely option.

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 17/05/2018 22:11

How about Vestry House Museum in Walthamstow? That would be a lovely intimate venue. Or you could see about hiring the upstairs room at the Nag's Head in Walthamstow village.

NewYearNewMe18 · 17/05/2018 22:13

Went to a wedding at the reservoir/pumping station in Stoke Newington - lovely venue

Snakie · 17/05/2018 22:14

The Chapel Bar, Islington

Hotpinkparade · 17/05/2018 22:16

Another vote for Number 90 in Hackney Wick, my friends got married there and it was amazing. The bride arrived by boat!

Cyberworrier · 17/05/2018 22:17

Frederick’s in Angel Islington has a lovely garden and is popular for wedding receptions, big or small

bananaramasllama · 17/05/2018 22:18

The Easton in Farringdon - lovely pub

Cyberworrier · 17/05/2018 22:18

Narrow Boat overlooking the canal in Angel too

catography · 17/05/2018 22:22

I like The Narrow in Limehouse, but I have no idea how much it costs! There's also the Swan next to the Globe.

I also hosted an event at The Devonshire private members club and it was very easy to negotiate them down to a reasonable price!

Someone upthread mentioned The Waterpoet. I LOVE that pub, it'd so good for a small fun family wedding!

Bridechilla · 17/05/2018 22:24

J + A Cafe in Clerkenwell do private hire and would be good for 30, absolutely lovely and tucked away so very private. jandacafe.com/

Rainatnight · 17/05/2018 22:27

Went to a really nice reception upstairs in the Cat and Mutton in London Fields a while ago.

Deploycharitygoats · 17/05/2018 22:27

Had the best chips I’ve ever eaten at The Albion, happy memories.

However, what I’m taking from this thread is I really want to go drinking with WhatisaNarwhal Grin

The Empress in Victoria Park Village is lovely, and the Forge for dry hire is also nice. Moro/Morito have just opened a private dining space in Hackney wick which might work. The Institute of Light in London Fields does private hire but only Monday & Tuesday. Also the Morgan Arms in Mile End do weddings. The private dining room at Bistrotheque is great too. Also J+A Cafe in Clerkenwell which has two floors and a lovely courtyard.

Figuringitout · 17/05/2018 22:41

The Eco Pavillion in Mile End is a really nice venue - although you would need to get catering in..
My other suggestions have already been mentioned (Morgan Arms and Bistrotheque)
The Gun in Docklands is also AMAZING!

MinaPaws · 17/05/2018 22:48

Sutton House?
Chat's Palace?
A friend had hers on a very tight budget at a boat house on the Lee River near Springfield Park, spilling out onto the river in the evening to watch the canal boats drift by. It was lovely.

TroubledLichen · 17/05/2018 22:59

If you’re after a restaurant and it’s a Saturday night then how about looking in Canary Wharf? Many have event space/private for the suits but you can get some good rates at the weekend as it’s their quiet time. Friends recently hired out the bar floor of Boisdale including the terrace for their engagement do. It was lovely, they even had the cigar room if you’re in to that sort of thing.

Pub wise I love The Narrow in Canary Wharf or The Gun in Docklands.

The Morgan Arms in Mile End has clearly gentrified since my student days redheadma, I just looked it up as I was shocked someone was recommending it, WOW!!

TroubledLichen · 17/05/2018 23:03

Wtf am I on about, the narrow is in limehouse (not Canary Wharf). Brilliant pub though!
