SUITSGATE - To feel sorry for the Royal Wedding Table Planner

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 16/05/2018 10:22

The table plans are written in calligraphy. The whole lot needs to be rewritten every time there is a change to the guest list. Is Mr Markle coming? If so, does he sit next to Camilla? Do they carry on hoping he’ll turn up and set a place at the top table for him? Do they not? If he turns up unexpectedly and they haven’t set him a place, will they pop a fold up chair at the end of the table and squeeze everyone up together in a Do You Think They Noticed kind of way?

The poor Table Plan Team.

I thought the bowl food was just for the 600? Surely the 200 evening guests at Frogmore will get a meal and top table treatment?

ShotsFired · 16/05/2018 13:15

I had bowl food at an event. If anyone knows how you eat a mini steak pie or mini burger or mini curry and rice from a tiny bowl while simultaneously wrangling a glass, serviette and trying to make smalltalk without food between your teeth, do let me know, as I just looked like a blundering oaf for most of it.

slowlywiltingpetal · 16/05/2018 13:20

Nope not having a buffet for DC's party, but 'bowl food' not sure if it has an edge or not. Is bowl food more substantial than canapés?

I guess it allows people to sit where they wish and mingle.

Any word on whether Prince Phillip is well enough to go?

Didiusfalco · 16/05/2018 13:32

Sounds like a great idea for a wedding with 600 people - more chance to chat.

Bet there is a sit down in the evening for the 200 though.

glueandstick · 16/05/2018 13:39

Is it like a stand up version of yo sushi?

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 16/05/2018 13:52

If this is bowls of peanuts then I hope the men wash their hands after using the restroom because I’ve heard that there are 200 types of wee in each of those peanut bowls Envy

Not envy. 🤢🤮

Eww eww eww!

I wonder if it's really a buffet but servants will serve. So no routing through for the best cheese sandwich. Grin Never dome that, but I've seen people who touch food then go maybe not.

I'm not a germaphobe, but still.

halcyondays · 16/05/2018 14:15

Apparently Prince Philip will go to the ceremony but not the reception. Can't blame him, I wouldn't be that impressed with bowl food instead of a proper sit down meal.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 16/05/2018 14:19

This indie quote is making me Grin at its breathless tone. Basically, people apparently like food. And it's OK in bowls too.

Bowl food has become increasingly popular in recent years, with people finding the combination of colourful, flavoursome and nourishing food in a simple bowl very appealing.

formerbabe · 16/05/2018 14:22

I've never heard of bowl food!

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/05/2018 14:24

Bowl food?
Is it some kind of wedding/Crufts mash up?
Megan's sister would fit right in then

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2018 14:32

Bowl food sounds hideous - why not just say ' buffet'

If i was going to a Royal do i would want to be able to sit down with a knife and fork and have some lovely food, none of this trying to juggle a plate and a cup whilst talking to Uncle Wilf about the price of fish! i would end up with it all over me. I bet the Queen and PP wont be standing around eating from bowls.
sounds a bit grim,

MissionItsPossible · 16/05/2018 14:34

I have never heard of bowl food or champagne soup before this thread. I've only been to about four or five weddings though all of which seemed pretty traditional.

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 16/05/2018 14:47

Yes, what is Champagne Soup? What a waste of champagne. What a waste of soup. And I know you can drink soup out of a bowl but asking people to do it standing up is just asking for an accident on the carpet.

OP posts:
slowlywiltingpetal · 16/05/2018 15:43

I'm guessing there will be seating.

Is the champagne soup served in a glass?

picklemepopcorn · 16/05/2018 15:46

I imagine bowl food as being like extra large canapés. No need to carry it around, just have a bowl of something tasty every now and then.

pappajonessecretchild · 16/05/2018 15:56

we hired a fish n chip van for my daughters wedding, i am sure prince phillip would have stayed for a battered sausage rather than going back to the palace.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2018 15:57

Fish and chips sound awesome. Better than the usual lukewarm chicken you get !

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 16/05/2018 16:05

I want to say something rude about battered sausage but I daren’t.

Champagne soup is-

Champagne
Ice
Contreau

Mix and consume till decidedly trollied!

DialMforMordor · 16/05/2018 16:45

God, it would be brilliant if it really was dog-bowl food, and a team of corgis brought it out on little sledges.

mtpicasso · 16/05/2018 16:54

The corgis are no more.... 🙁

siwel123 · 16/05/2018 16:58

Bowl food is basic miniature portions of a meal served in a small bowl or on a plate or in a twatty cup.

It is not a buffet. I repeat it is not a buffet.

picklemepopcorn · 16/05/2018 18:19

Ooh, I could go for champagne soup!
