Nothing on feet...really?

There is a woman at my place of work who chooses not to wear footwear around the building. It’s not a particularly large building, not a building site office but a professional office. As soon as the sun comes out...off comes her shoes.

I find the whole thing rather distasteful. No-one else says a word, is it just me?

In the summer once the children go home we all walk round shoeless at my workplace!

BlueJava · 14/05/2018 20:41

Many people are shoeless in my office too (plus flip flps - see earlier post) :)

MrsHathaway · 14/05/2018 20:41

Bare feet is a bit nasty but I've worked in offices where people kept slippers or flight socks for foot relief.

Ohmydayslove · 14/05/2018 20:42

Oh no sweaty feet making marks on the carpet ewww yeuk it’s not her home it’s an office. Unprofessional op sgree with you

arethereanyleftatall · 14/05/2018 20:43

It might be distasteful, but I wish it wasn't!
Dh is south African and, when there, so many people, and pretty much all kids walk around barefoot - in supermarkets, the mall, the airport. My dds do there and love it, but I don't think it'd go down too well in Waitrose

SerenDippitty · 14/05/2018 20:43

I think it’s unhygienic to walk around barefoot in public buildings. God knows what people have got on their feet, verrucae, athlete’s foot.......

MrsLaurac · 14/05/2018 20:46

Guilty of taking my shoes off and just having socks or tights on

halfwitpicker · 14/05/2018 20:47

There's a thread about this every year.

Are you a foot fetish troll?

AmazingPostVoices · 14/05/2018 20:48

Doesn’t it contravene Health and Safety? It would at my company.

Returnofthesmileybar · 14/05/2018 20:52

It's manky and unprofessional, it bugs the shit out of me in shops/libraries etc and on flights too. I've never seen it in work myself but I would definitely double take if I did

Geordiegirl1988 · 14/05/2018 20:56

Sweaty feet marks on carpet ?? Maybe on hardwood floors or laminate it I highly doubt feet would leave a mark on a carpet ! Grow up people it's only feet , it's not like she is walking around topless or knickerless

theSnuffster · 14/05/2018 21:00

I work in a nursery, all staff (and children) wear either socks or slippers, sometimes a few staff members are completely barefoot in the summer.

Greymisty · 14/05/2018 21:03

Being shoeless is great your being U.

purplecorkheart · 14/05/2018 21:03

Vile! What do he say? Or are they aware?

Photosmash · 14/05/2018 21:05

The only issue I see is the risk of standing on a pin or something. If people’s shoes trailing through all sorts are ok on carpets then why not bare feet

ArcheryAnnie · 14/05/2018 21:06

Feet get washed every day. the soles of your shoes do not. I know which one I'd put my money on being cleaner, so i think all this "ewww, dirty feet, unhygienic" stuff is nonsense.

helpfulperson · 14/05/2018 21:06

I love that shoes indoors are seen as yuck, bare feet are seen as yuck but apparently sweaty socks or tights on floors are just fine.

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 14/05/2018 21:09

Feet get washed every day.

One would like to think this to be true. In my experience it is not true. ConfusedSadHmmShockAngry

sweeneytoddsrazor · 14/05/2018 21:09

What happens if she steps on a pin? Or drops something on her toes?

sweeneytoddsrazor · 14/05/2018 21:11

Does your nursery have lego? Standing on that hurts.

And as long as you wear your shoes then there is no risk at all of you catching anything.
You also seem to think that shoes are really hygienic! There are far worse things on the bottom of people's shoes than there could be on their feet.

GaynorGoodwin · 14/05/2018 21:15

How do you know everybody else’s feet are clean...
