Aibu to think its ridiculous when people say " oh it's okay my dog won't go near the baby or hurt him/her " how can they be so sure?

I will not be leaving my absolutely darling and loving dog alone with my baby, because you just never ever know! He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body; but even if he were to want to show affection and was overzealous, it could cause huge problems. Plus, when babies are older they are not always kind to dogs (mostly as they don't know better), and I would hate to imagine my dog having his ears pulled or something just because I wasn't supervising! Dogs jumping up at stranger's children is unacceptable, as is a child harassing a stranger's dog.

I love my Dogs but I've never left them and DD alone. Although they've never done anything to suggest they would hurt her I can't take that risk.
DD is at quite a boisterous age so at the prime age to instil dog safety.

I also think dog safety should be treated in schools but yes ! It is very annoying when dog owners let their dogs jump up at unsuspecting children/babies too.
