Wonder if this is what The a Young are calling everyone these days (like when they kept saying "bless" a few years back) or did she think I was from her gran's generation?

quo what's ethically questionable about Lush?

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 12/05/2018 18:57

And?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/05/2018 18:58

It does sound like the sort of thing a rather older person would say. I'm probably a lot older than you, and my Pils would call me 'my dear'.

'Dear' on its own sounds less 'elderly' to me. Whereas 'love' seems to have no age connotations at all.

TroysMammy · 12/05/2018 19:01

Were you expecting her to say "there you go hun". Grin

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 12/05/2018 19:10

Ex retail staff here. Loads of colleagues used some form of "sweetie darling" word, it's just how some people patter.

I did once say "my love" out of nerves to a rather unpleasant customer I was trying to be nice to. She screamed at me for a couple of minutes asking how dare I and saying that she was NOT MY CHATTEL and that I had devalued the meaning of love and the loving words of her partner. The irony is that I usually never used endearments, I said it out of nerves because she scared me!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/05/2018 19:15

I get called "young girl" by some of my patients.
I'm nearly 52 Confused, but I'm told I look younger all the time

I do inwardly clench but I don't think there's any malice..........................

Ironfloor269 · 12/05/2018 19:17

My challenge when I go to Lush is to come out without making eye contact with any of the sales people. They always, ALWAYS try to start a conversation with you with a sale in mind. So bloody annoying.

pigsDOfly · 12/05/2018 19:28

I never go into Lush, the smell as you walk past is more than enough to induce a headache and actually makes me feel quite queasy.

Aeroflotgirl · 12/05/2018 19:35

Yabvvu first world problems. Woukd you rather she was rude or Brasque!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 12/05/2018 19:45

Tbh I have stopped buying lush but always find it funny to be chased after by the teen sales girls as I’ve been using longer than most of them have been alive.

PickAChew · 12/05/2018 19:56

I'm missing the days when I was called flower or petal. It's more likely to be madam, these days.

PickAChew · 12/05/2018 19:59

DSHathaway there is something quite pleasurable about calling someone who is an utterly unpleasant PITA "sweetheart", I find :o

Petitepamplemousse · 12/05/2018 23:48

Seriously OP. Get something proper to worry about.

NotsoLush · 13/05/2018 19:00

Seriously, Petitepample, I wasn't worried about it.

The pharmacist in the chemist where I get my prescriptions said 'Hello dearie' to me the other day when I walked in. I felt about 90. Grin

Petitepamplemousse · 13/05/2018 20:17

Then why start a thread over it OP? Hmm

BessMarvin · 14/05/2018 07:11

If I've understood correctly, she started the thread because she was wondering about something, not worrying about something.

falang · 14/05/2018 07:31

Yabuvvvu. Lol
