To have concluded that there is no flattering swimwear on market for post baby body?

Or at least not for my post baby body.

I’m a tallish size 12/14, with pretty typical post-baby wobbly belly, and size 34FF boobs.

Currently looking for holiday swimwear and I can’t find anything at all flattering. Bikinis fit but I don’t feel great in them with wobbly stomach hanging out. I would prefer coverage of swimsuit but I only seem to be able to find two options

(1) control swimsuits which hold you in nicely but have no support at all up top (which after 2 babies I could really do with)

(2) swimsuits with proper cup sizes and therefore appropriate support but not tailored to dress size in any way so are either too baggy / too small / too short in body etc

Surely I can’t be the only one in this situation? Posting in the hope I am being unreasonable and someone has some suggestions of where I can look for something suitable!

(I could obviously just go with bikini and get over the fact I don’t think it looks great and just be grateful it fits - that will be my plan B I think!)

Echo pp who suggested seafolly. I got a gorgeous fifties style costume from them last year supports my boobs and tum and the shorts style bottoms mean I don't have to deal with my bikini line! Bonus! Twas expensive though x

Hunter007 · 12/05/2018 18:56

Don't find Pour Moi great quality but agree Curvy Kate also v. nice!

Bratsandtwats · 12/05/2018 18:59

I have about 4 x Marks and Spencers swimsuits and think they're great. I am overweight and have big boobs and they hold me in and support me in the right places. I'm not a strong swimmer though so more for lounging and doing doggy paddle.

Ok, so I have ordered a couple of tankinis from swimwear365 (including one of those loose fitting ones someone recommended above, which look absolutely lovely online but I suspect may give rise to cup issues - we shall see). Have also ordered one from Forluna, which I really like tbe look of. Will report back once I have tried all on, and then look into the other options suggested if I don’t get on with those ordered. Thanks so much everyone x

thank you so much for posting this!! I have a 5 month old and my body is pretty much a disaster zone right now - my backside is a completely different shape and I need something that will suck in the strange pockets of fat when I go on holiday with DH's entire family in July!! Obviously I assumed I'd be exercising every day of mat leave when we booked it Grin

Rachel468 · 12/05/2018 20:38

I feel your pain. My body became a completely different shape post pregnancy. I weigh less than I did before pregnancy but nothing is in the right place 😞 For Luna and Seafolly both have good options

TheHauntedFishtank · 12/05/2018 20:46

I’m a similar size and shape and have a brilliant swimsuit from Primark of all places. I’ve had it for a couple of years so not sure if they still do similar styles but might be worth a look?

DesignedForLife · 12/05/2018 20:47

I had a fab one from M&S

NotARegularPenguin · 12/05/2018 20:51

How about a bikini with high waisted bottoms?

SeaWitchly · 12/05/2018 22:27

I am considering ordering a couple of the blousson tankinis from 365 swimwear... would the PP who recommended them suggest ordering in my normal size or one size up?

I am definitely a pronounced apple shape since having my two children. The podge around my middle does not shift even with diet and exercise... it is just that the rest of me gets slimmer.

The podge looks like a pregnancy bump as it starts just below my ribcage and ends above my pubic hair line. So a blousson style could be perfect for me as it should cover the 'bump' whilst accentuating my slim hips and upper chest iyswim.

I have avoided swimming for years due to loathing how my body looks in a swimsuit [and feeling incredibly self conscious about the bump and onlookers no doubt wondering how pregnant I am Sad]
I am hoping that the blousson tankini will do the trick!

LolaLouise · 12/05/2018 22:36

I have the blousson in both the size i am currently and the size down and wear both comfortably, im currently a 16. I have severely stretched skin from pregnancies, over hang that is about 2 inches. These i wear on holiday without worrying at all as it hides everything. I pair them with the side drawstring swim shorts also on 365. These have you usual bikini bottoms that are tight, then loose over lay. So comfortable. Covered enough to not be self conscious but great for swimming and days at water parks

UrgentScurryfunge · 12/05/2018 22:58

I have a lovely high waist, padded bust bikini from M&S. I'm able to tuck the mum tum and surplus skin in yet not feel like I'm hiding everything away.

JellyButton15 · 12/05/2018 23:01

I’ve trued loads on and was prepared to buy a more expensive one this time after having my second child, but found Sainsbury’s Tu ones to be the best. Not all of them but tried a few and some were great.

CAAKE · 12/05/2018 23:02

I've got two of these. Really flattering - tummy in boobs up etc.

Rachel468 · 13/05/2018 10:02

This post is actually now making me panic. Holiday in July, and I’m not even sure if last year’s suits will fit..rushes over to diet threads

Hunter007 · 13/05/2018 14:07

Oh that's lovely - what are the sizes like - did you get your normal size or do you need to go up?

Hunter007 · 13/05/2018 14:10

Sorry, that's for Caake about the Boden one!

CAAKE · 14/05/2018 08:02

Hunter the Boden sizes are as they "should be". I'm usually a 12 and the 12 fits like I want it to.

TuTru · 14/05/2018 08:10

I quite liked the swimdress/skirt when I was in my larger body. I felt less exposed. And it gave a more flattering shape I think.

TuTru · 14/05/2018 08:13

In fact I’ve lost most of my weight now but I’d prob still opt for a swimdress if I ever needed to get another swimsuit.

dingdongdigeridoo · 14/05/2018 09:35

F&F do some good ‘illusion’ swimsuits that have proper cups and a ruched tummy panel. They’re flattering and cheap.

My favourite bikini is a 50s style one. I’m plus size but I think it is the most flattering choice. It’s high waisted bottoms, a wired, very generous top and halter neck strap. Hardly any post baby belly on display and it’s cute.

Hunter007 · 14/05/2018 10:59

Can't decide if I prefer the boden or For Luna ones. The boden one doesn't have the ruching so not sure it will provide enough belly camouflage! So pretty though

ToastyFingers · 14/05/2018 11:22

Next do some lovely high waisted bikinis with proper underwired tops. I got one after dd1 was born and still wear it now.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 27/05/2018 08:19

LOVE the forluna ones!
