And could you deal with it if you absolutely had to? Mine is spiders and I have had full blown panic attacks over them before. There was a huge wolf spider in my living room earlier and I had to deal with it as my young niece was terrified and crying. Psyching myself up to put a bowl over it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Haha reading that back sounds barmy but it’s amazing how much a true phobia can affect you. My OH’s is heights and he said if it was a life or death situation and he had to jump out of a plane or do a bungee jump he’d rather just die

My father is terrified of being buried alive. Has made us promise to cremate him!

HateTheDF · 12/05/2018 12:10

Spiders - I just can't deal with them, I can't look at them or even fake spiders. They terrify me.

I had one of those massive black ones fall out of my hair once right in front of my eyes and I screamed the place down.

Frosty66612 · 12/05/2018 12:12

@hate the thought of one of this big ones being anywhere near my head brings me out in cold chills. I once picked up what I thought was a clump of mud on the carpet and it was a spider that had curled itself up. I’ve never screamed so loud

Heights in a specific and outing way. I cannot deal with it at all and am currently in therapy as it is full blown OCD. Blush
Even the thought of it makes me cry.

Asthenia · 12/05/2018 22:52

I’m terrified of someone vomiting on me on a packed train. Very specific and very strange but it makes the daily commute very stressful 😂

helloBuddy · 12/05/2018 22:56

Swimming in the sea, I hate it and get stupid images in my head of what's in there. I can just about have my feet covered in water.

FranticallyPeaceful · 12/05/2018 23:23

My kids being unhappy. Of course nobody wants it, but I have a genuine fear of it. Sets me off in terrible anxiety most of the time. Can not stand the thought of it - it’s inexplicable but it makes me just recoil and so fearful. It’s ridiculous really Confused it makes me feel so exhausted because it’s such a constant thing at times.

VilootShesCute · 12/05/2018 23:40

Vom. Catheters. Having to choose to save only one of my children.

FranticallyPeaceful · 12/05/2018 23:43

@VilootShesCute re the choosing a child thing, I replay this in my head more than I should with different reasons. Absolutely terrifies me. I think my brain hates me

Raven88 · 12/05/2018 23:44

Pigs, don't know why but they really scare me.

TooManyPaws · 12/05/2018 23:46

Falling on something and getting impaled/"putting my eye out". Think I must have had it said to me too often too young.

PurpleRobe · 12/05/2018 23:49

Pipes

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 12/05/2018 23:54

Being sucked out of a plane 😥 I watched a couple of Aircrash Investigation episodes where that happened and it has stayed with me, and then it only went and bloody happened again recently to that poor woman in the US.

Makes me sweat just writing it.

ta14 · 12/05/2018 23:54

Wasps and hornets. I find it impossible to stay still when they're around me even though people tell me they won't sting unless provoked!

Pettyspaghetti · 13/05/2018 00:22

Very irrational but;
Fall down a hill and breaking my neck (I avoid hills at all costs)
Large boats (blame speed 2)
Being in the middle of the ocean and getting attacked by a shark (funnily enough I love sharks, but from the safety of my own home)
And wasps. Genuinely terrified of the stripy heathens.

smileychops · 13/05/2018 00:23

Poo. I've got better after changing hundreds of nappies, but I still shudder sometimes and am dreading emptying the potty when it comes to toilet training. Poo accidents in the bath from dcs make me squeal and cry!

Leopoldstotch · 13/05/2018 00:25

Pigeons. I break into a cold sweat if one comes near me Blush

DammitOedipus · 13/05/2018 00:51

Crocodiles and alligators. I have never been near them and have genuinely turned down opportunities to go to Florida and other southern states because of my fear. I think I would have a heart attack if I was in a situation where one was near me. I used to have recurring nightmares about them and would wake up having panic attacks.

Loonoon · 13/05/2018 01:02

That if I relax and enjoy my healthy privileged life the universe will punish me. The last time I can remember being unreservedly happy was July 1991. Within a week of that feeling my cat was run over and killed, my 52 year old dad told me he had terminal cancer and I was demoted at work. I have a good life now but have never been able to feel .truly happy as I am just waiting for it to end.

Ski40 · 13/05/2018 01:10

I avoid buses like the plague since having a recurrent nightmare about being shot by a terrorist aboard one, whilst protecting my child from the bullets. I only travel by bus if I have absolutely no choice, maybe twice a year and I get dizzy with panic if someone resembling the man in my dream gets on.

I'm also petrified of spiders and of daddy long legs. I hate summer when we get invaded by them.

OverTheMountain42 · 13/05/2018 01:23

Rats, mice, hamsters .. any small rodents. They make my skin crawl, I can't even look at them in pet shops!

Thunder and lightning, although I am getting a bit better with that.

Car journeys, I'm convinced I'll have an accident or be in an accident and die. I cry before going on anything over a hour, especially if motorways are involved.

Needles and injections. Despite over 20 operations and countless injections, I hate them.

Plus more that others have said, space, heights, I have health anxiety too.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 13/05/2018 01:30

Pylons. Horrible things. They're ugly, look like they're going to take off (either flying or walking) and will probably collapse onto the motorway and electrocute everyone.

thepondstakemanhatten · 13/05/2018 01:33

museum mannequins - I once went through the scare maxes at Alton Towers and loved them. The next day I went to a museum and had to walk through a dark room with manniquins everywhere - I said I’d rather do the scare mazes again!

Keepittenten · 13/05/2018 02:18

Birds, flying at my face, scratching at me with talons, pecking with their beaks! I struggle being in the town centre with pigeons around. I have never watched the Hitchcock film, making my heart beat faster, just thinking of it.

angryburd · 13/05/2018 02:49

Spiders. Can't cope with them.

Being buried alive. Saw a film years ago where this happened to someone and it scared the shit out of me. I've made everyone promise to donate my organs when I die and cremate me, jusy to make sure I'm 100% dead!!

Needles. I'm not sure if it's the needle itself or the idea of something going into my veins. (I hate veins, can't bear to look at them) but getting an injection reduces me to a crying, shaking mess. I've never given blood because I can't cope with the way they take it from you. If they could just cut me and bleed me out, that'd be fine!
