Hairdresser moved salons now charges more

Just that really. She is brilliant! Does my hair exactly as I want it. Problem is, she recently moved to a different salon and now charges an extra £10.
The salon isn’t in as nice an area. The salon is basic but classy and modern(quite a new business-it’s not her salon)
AIBU to be miffed that I’m paying an extra tenner for exactly the same service??

Yes you are being unreasonable. Do you think she moved to get paid less? You chose to move with her so paying more is what I would expect.

My hairdresser renovated and the left. I found someone else in the salon and their rate is more than what I was paying previously because of the renovation. Can't win.

pinkdelight · 11/05/2018 23:05

Yabu I'm afraid. Prices go up. She's good and wants to progress and earn more which is fair enough. If you want to pay less, shop around. You may decide she's worth it.

MotherTruckerrr · 11/05/2018 23:18

Honestly, I already know she’s worth it. And I just wanted to hear this to make my mind up.
I’ve been to dozens of hairdressers over the years, and she’s one of the very few I’ve stuck with.
Genuinely good hairdressers are rare. She’s a keeper Smile

She’s probably paying more for her chair.

Dragongirl10 · 11/05/2018 23:21

Op do your wages never go up?

Hippee · 11/05/2018 23:22

I have two friends who have stayed with hairdressers from their training days to now and are straining under the fact that their once £15 appointment now costs over £100 - sadly, you have to pay up or move on.

My lovely hairdresser recently put up her price by 25% - to £12.50 - I haven't complained Grin

Poloshot · 12/05/2018 00:04

If you don't want to pay the extra £10
Find somewhere else

Twogoround · 12/05/2018 00:28

Ask if she moblile work if you don't like her new salon .

MotherTruckerrr · 13/05/2018 01:34

I don’t dislike the new salon. It’s lovely. As are the other staff.
I could understand the price hike if she had trained in new techniques or had been promoted. But it’s still the same cut(in a ‘worse’ area(quite rough, infact).
I’ll be staying with her though.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/05/2018 01:58

I hope you tipped in her other place, what with her being so good Grin

stolemyusername · 13/05/2018 03:26

I'm not sure what you want from this thread? She's charging £10 more, pay it or find another hairdresser 🙄

AlonsoTigerHeart · 13/05/2018 06:35

You pay for her skills not to visit the worse rough area.
Either she's worth it as you say or she's not.

InspMorse · 13/05/2018 07:34

Could be one of many reasons.

She pays more for her rent/chair.
She hasn't increased her prices in a long time and other outgoing have gone up.
She is giving herself a well deserved pay rise.
Charges are set by the new salon not her.

Who knows.

NapQueen · 13/05/2018 07:36

How big a jump is that? I pay 17quid for a cut and blow dry so jumping to 27 is quite a %hike.

ChasedByBees · 13/05/2018 07:36

She entitled to charge what she thinks she’s worth. You both think she’s worth it so why are you miffed? If you don’t like it, don’t pay and find someone else but ‘miffed’ shouldn’t even feature. It’s a business transaction and if you resent it go elsewhere.

Dieu · 13/05/2018 07:41

An extra tenner is nothing.

TheFlame · 13/05/2018 07:42

she might have been trained in new techniques but if you are getting the same cut you won't know about it.

RomeoBunny · 13/05/2018 07:47

Are you the type to moan if your dog groomer or gardener put their prices up by £2 too OP? (what equates to only an extra few quid a year)

2andcountingtodate · 13/05/2018 07:48

Don't be miffed OP just find another hairdresser. Or if she's good stick with her.

Did she tell you about the new charge when you booked?

GrannyGrissle · 13/05/2018 07:53

She will be passing on the higher charges of the new salon OP or taking the oportunity to have a pay rise. Ten bloody quid extra for a hairdresser you like and is good ffs.

Luisa27 · 13/05/2018 07:58

Shock £17 for a cut & bd - goodness that’s certainly value for money!

Teggun · 13/05/2018 08:04

But the hairdresser isnt "charging £10 more". She works in a new salon whose prices are different from the old salon. I presume you pay the salon not the stylist?

LARLARLAND · 13/05/2018 08:07

She's probably been charging too little for years if she is a brilliant hairdresser. Maybe she's realised that.

Frazzled2207 · 13/05/2018 12:45

Count yourself lucky you can still get there. My most amazing hairdresser left to pastures new and I never figured out where he went, he was at Toni and Guy and I'm guessing they would have made it very difficult for him to take his clients with him. This was before the days of being able to Facebook stalk so easily.

RomeoBunny · 13/05/2018 13:56

@Frazzled2207 just post publically on FB or your local FB group. Someone will know who he is and where he's gone :)
