The dog ate my moon cup

anydaynow · 10/05/2018 20:45

is this reason enough to put the dog down?

Am I buying a direct replacement of my dearly loved of many years cup or am I going to go for something new and improved? I've heard of things with such mod cons as valves... the mind boggles. I need your wisdom and experience please. Maybe the dogs inopportune snack could be a blessing in disguise...

Did the dog actually swallow the moon cup and has it come out the other end?
Would be a bit embarrassing if it had to have surgery to remove it 😂

BiteyShark · 10/05/2018 20:51

I was just thinking the same thing. I hope he chewed it first Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 10/05/2018 20:55

Can't be of any help as moon cups fill me with horror but is the dog ok?

GummyGoddess · 10/05/2018 20:55

One of my cats ate a brand new one of mine once, there were chunks missing. She actually growled at me when I went to take it away, I didn't even know she could growl. She also liked to try and get into the drawer where my normal one was kept until I moved it to a cupboard which she now can't get to.

Sparklesocks · 10/05/2018 20:57

Oh no!!

I don’t know much about different types mooncups but I think there are some good reviews from blogs etc if you google about.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/05/2018 20:58

I always think it can't be that hygienic, emptying, rinsing then shoving back in. 😷

eggcellent · 10/05/2018 20:59

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks Hmm more hygienic than a dick

redexpat · 10/05/2018 21:04

I evaporated mineBlush put it in apan with water and left it to boil. Then got distracted by laundry etc and came back an hour later to a horrible smell and an empty pan.

TheGherkin · 10/05/2018 21:07

My dog ate mine too. She was fine.

I replaced it with a Femmy Cycle which was shit and then had to buy a new moincup.

After moaning about it s lot someone suggested they are supposed to be replaced after a while anyway and mine was at least 10 years old so I didn’t feel too hard done by.

kitkatsky · 10/05/2018 21:08

I hope this makes the Daily Fail. That is all!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/05/2018 21:15

Good point eggcellent. I just think, doesn't menstrual blood carry bacteria, and no way can you destroy it with water alone. I'd want to scrub it out, but you wouldn't really have time.

Monoblock67 · 10/05/2018 21:17

I use a blossom cup-bought on Amazon. Find it really comfortable and such a better alternative to tampons.

anydaynow · 10/05/2018 21:19

This is reassuring TheGherkin... my moon cup is at least 10 years old... or rather was

Actually evaporated Redexpat? That's impressive... I did nearly kill the DCs with the toxic fumes from overboiling it once but the cup lived to tell the tale.

You've got a determined cat GummyGoddess... it must be something in your pheromones Grin

I'm sorry but I really think you need to keep a close eye on your dog. If that gets stuck it will be life threatening.

I'm deadly serious. Look for signs of discomfort. Vomiting and not defecating - if that happens get your dog to a vet as a matter of urgency.

Sorry to put a downer on things but I've seen too many dogs die from foreign bodies

VanillaSugar · 10/05/2018 21:23

Can you put your mooncup in the dishwasher? That would get rid of the bacteria perfectlysymmetricalbutticks

anydaynow · 10/05/2018 21:23

But surely it's your own bacteria perfectlysymetricalbuttocks ... no one's suggesting you pass the cup around

OP posts:
anydaynow · 10/05/2018 21:26

LEMtheoriginal I can put your mind at rest... the dog is fine. Initial piecing together of the remaining bits shows almost a whole cup... In fact maybe all I need is a bit of Gorilla Glue

TrippingTheVelvet · 10/05/2018 21:26

Me too! I thought I was alone in this!

GummyGoddess · 10/05/2018 21:28

@PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks That bacteria has literally just come out of your body, colonies of it are already resident so it won't do you any harm. Also I have a couple of them, so one in, one out and the out one gets sterilised while it's out.

anydaynow · 10/05/2018 21:29

Actually... can you put it in the dishwasher VanillaSugar? That's a real game changer for me. No DS of 13 wants to witness a boiling mood cup when he has friends round for tea.

Take this down! Daily Mail!

TemptressofWaikiki · 10/05/2018 21:30

My Greyhound puppy did exactly the same! Grin

LEMtheoriginal · 11/05/2018 05:23

Anyday - phew!! I had visions of it being swallowed whole Grin that may have taken some explaining at the vets.

Furiousaboutinstarubbish · 11/05/2018 05:44

Not in the DISHWASHER! the chemicals would irritate your delicate fanjo bits

BalloonFlowers · 11/05/2018 06:31

Have a look see at MeLuna cups.
Mine gets a cold soak in Milton. Don't trust myself not to boil it dry (and since tampons are hard to source out here, there is not a hope in hell of getting a cup til the following summer!).
