The dog ate my moon cup

is this reason enough to put the dog down?

Am I buying a direct replacement of my dearly loved of many years cup or am I going to go for something new and improved? I've heard of things with such mod cons as valves... the mind boggles. I need your wisdom and experience please. Maybe the dogs inopportune snack could be a blessing in disguise...

I have an Organicup which I love.

VanillaSugar · 11/05/2018 07:02

Hang on, surely the dishwasher would cleane and rinse the mooncup? I didn’t suggest putting a dishwasher tab up your wotsits.

KevinTheYuccaPlant · 11/05/2018 07:55

I put mine through the dishwasher, it's absolutely fine. DH nearly had the vapours when he found out though!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/05/2018 09:38

anydaynow yes, but could it give you an infection. I'm sure there's a reason our bodies expel this stuff every month, otherwise it would just be reabsorbed.

Vanilla yes, but that would be after your period. What about during? I mentioned this on the Lush forum about 11 years ago, and concluded that you'd need 2.

Bubblysqueak · 11/05/2018 09:43

Love my meluna cup.

anydaynow · 11/05/2018 09:54

Perfectlysymmetrical I just can't think this is true... it's almost crazy. More likely to get an infection from a tampon surely... I'm guessing you wouldn't be into borrowing your OHs cup in an emergency then... Blush

I'm just overly worried, I think! 😂 No, I think I'd rather use a tea towel than put someone else's cup up my vag in an emergency! 😂

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/05/2018 10:00

Although, if it had been dishwashed...

VanillaSugar · 11/05/2018 16:56

I’m paling at the thought of OH’s cup

anydaynow · 11/05/2018 18:43

I gave it a really good swill round first... it's just as I said, the dog ate mine Blush

pmsl @ Gorilla Glue

ThreeJoeys · 11/05/2018 18:58

I use disinfectant for baby bottles rather than boiling mine.

DippyDiplodocus · 11/05/2018 19:11

Can we have a picture of the guilty dog? Grin

My dogs have also got mine out of the bathroom drawer before. Luckily it was still in the fabric pouch and non-chewed!

Notevilstepmother · 11/05/2018 19:19

I boiled 2 dry and burnt over around 15 years. No actual evaporation. Still cheaper than disposable I reckon.

Notevilstepmother · 11/05/2018 19:23

I’m assuming your OH is a) female and b) your partner, so why would it be an issue?

Notevilstepmother · 11/05/2018 19:25

Since the boiling dry incidents I boil in the microwave so it turns itself off after a few minutes.

I’m glad your dog didn’t actually swallow any. Vets bills are bad enough without the whole explaining what the dog ate thing.

Eliza9917 · 11/05/2018 19:34

Don't put it in the dishwasher, that's rank. Same as putting it in the microwave. Get a glass jar, some boiling water and Milton ffs.

SplodgeBear1988 · 11/05/2018 19:48

I used a website questionnaire and it told me what cup I was best suited to. I brought the one that was at the top of the list and it works perfectly.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 11/05/2018 19:50

And I was worried about my ddog eating my flip flop.
Least that had it been on my foot not in my fanjo!!Blush

allthegoodnameshadgone · 11/05/2018 19:58

Interested in trying this. Moon cup not feeding it to a dog.

Do they ever leak? That's my only concern? Does it take much practice putting in in? Change/Empty the same as a tampon I presume?

raindropsandsunshine · 11/05/2018 19:58

Ooh those who have different cups, what's the capacity like in comparison? I also left mine boiling for too long! Confused

iklboo · 11/05/2018 19:58

This is, to be fair, a great name for a band.

StripLynchet · 11/05/2018 20:03

I've had the same one for 18 years and wash it in hot soapy water. Is that wrong?

Eliza9917 · 11/05/2018 20:09

@allthegoodnameshadgone mine leaks sometimes when very heavy but I've just bought some washable pads from cloth mama on eBay for extra protection at night on those days.

I've got a mooncup in size b as I'm over 30.

TookyClothespin · 11/05/2018 20:12

Where is that questionnaire Splodge? I've been trying to decide what to replace my lost diva cup with.
