The fear of dressing babies in the "wrong colour"

So i was picking up a few bits online for my baby and came across this review for some bibs. Do people actually think this was in RL or is this some sort of joke Confused what does this woman think is going to happen if her baby son wears a pink bib that he'll turn gay or god forbid not be her "little man"

My toddler dd had a dressing gown which was black and white Dalmatian design with ears on the hood, when dd grew out if it my ds started wearing it but I was told by my dsis and bil that I shouldn't let ds wear it as the parts of the dog ears were pink so it was a girls dressing gown.🙄

When their ds reached toddler years he became obsessed with wearing his ds dressing up clothes and would be dressed as Cinderella complete with tons of toy jewellery and high heels. I really wanted to point out to be dsis that they were "girls" clothes but managed to hold my tongue 😂😂

I like bright colours for boys and girls. Those pastel pinks and blues are so boring imo. Love white, red and navy together, yellow, orange, turquoise and lime green. Pink is ok if it's a nice bright pink, like cerise.
I agree with the PP who said it all comes down to marketing, and it's being extended to orams, high chairs, toys and everything else baby related you can think of.

I really like the Jools Oliver Little Bird range at mothercare - there’s something so lovely about bright rainbow colours on small children - of either sex! I dress my dd (3) regardless of colour. She has plenty of pink clothes with princesses and unicorns on but also has dinosaur print trousers, a superhero tshirt from the boys section (she adores it) and plenty of blue clothes. Kids like what they like at the end of the day it’s as simple as that.

DD has lots of little bird. She also wears boden next frugi and kite. I buy in sales and mix it with odd gems from supermarkets.

Sainsbury's us good up to 24 months then it's a bit rubbish with odd bits that are nice. H and m the same.

Well, I do agree that people putting boys in pink is strictly a MN phenomena. I don't think I've ever put my boys in pink (I don't wear much pink, to be fair).

That said, I'd love to return to a simpler time where kids just wore hand-me-downs from their older siblings, which weren't colour-coded.

I wouldn't dress my baby boy in pale blue if you paid me to - too old fashioned! DS wears grey, navy, mustard, dark red, bright yellow, etc. The whole "pastel colours for babies" is so outdated.

Pale blue is pretty hideous.

Dress your kids in what ever they're happy/comfortable in. If you're a fan of the 'traditional' blue for boys and pink for girls then go for it, if you prefer gender neutral then wahoo great for you.

But it's all personal choice, it's just as out of line to run another parent down because they like to see their sons in blue as it is to tell someone that putting their son in pink will make them 'catch the gays'.

This thread is pretty foul tbh.

I wonder whether some of this is to do with the fact that so many more parents these days know the sex of the baby before it is born.

When I had my children, most people didn't know in advance. I don't remember any 'boy' or 'girl' prams and people often bought clothes and cot sheets/blankets in neutral colours.

There was also much more of an expectation that clothes and other baby things would be handed down from child to child.

Fifth - when my brother was born 25 years ago, it was a choice of pink, blue, lemon yellow or mint green! Envy
