AIBU to think that the cordless Dysons are great but the battery life is rubbish?

Can anyone persuade me that the Dyson's cordless hoovers are great as the main hoover in the house and don't drive you mad by running out of battery all the time?

I use my cordless Dyson for my house (small 3 bed) and it lasts a full whizz round. I do have a big Dyson which replaced a Henry (who was a very irritating twat) but I will only use it if I'm feeling fit. The cordless is great for hoovering the car as well.

I have a v6 so 20 mins on normal, 5 mins on turbo. I find the 20 mins is enough time for what I need to do. Because you have to keep your finger pressed down to keep it on you’re not actually using it all the time, so when moving rooms or shifting furniture it isn’t using up charge.

The hair getting wrapped up is annoying, anyone know if the v10 still gets hair wrapped up?

I absolutely love our Animal, wouldn't want to go back to a corded vacuum now.

It lasts long enough to do a quick run around the whole house (three bed, two long-haired humans and two cats), or enough to do a thorough clean of one floor. I almost always have it on max. You do have to clean out the rollers every few weeks, but it's quite enjoyable!

I've got the shark duo clean, comes with two batteries, we're in a 4 bed 3 storey house. I can do the whole house on one charge, but we only have carpets on the stairs, landing and one bedroom, the rest is hard floors. But if it runs out I just switch ith batteries. My sil has the Dyson and she says ours is far better. Personally I think ours was worth the £300 (black Friday deal). I got rid of the vax because I never use it now.

I’ve got the Gtech hoover and handheld. 40 mins life with the upright and 20 mins for the handheld. Gets my 3 story house done.

SellFridges · 10/05/2018 07:19

I have a V6. Tend to just whiz round with it as the cleaner uses the corded hoover when she comes.

However, who on earth needs to hoover for more than 20 minutes? I can zoom round our five bed, three storey in that time. We don’t have pets though so maybe I’m missing something about their hair.

Justabadwife · 10/05/2018 08:00

I have a v6 absolute and a v6 animal, I love them both. I can do my whole house (3 bed) on one charge, Because it's done everyday it not a massive job. My carpets have never been as hovered. 😀

I absolutely hate mine. Battery life is rubbish, it's uncomfortable to hold and the dust compartment comes open far too easily. I wish we'd never bought it. Also it doesn't pick up the mess very well as I can tell if I use a proper vacuum after.

MessyMeTarr · 10/05/2018 08:07

Also thought it would be good for cleaning cars, but it's rubbish there too.

Ohmydayslove · 10/05/2018 08:07

Yes yes yes op. It’s light and wen it works it’s great but the dust compartment opens too quickly, the filters clog too easily and the battery doesn’t last past 20 mins.

Karen85 · 10/05/2018 08:10

Really regret buying mine

merrymouse · 10/05/2018 08:13

I love the idea of a cordless hoover, but I’m waiting till the batteries are better.

merrymouse · 10/05/2018 08:15

However, who on earth needs to hoover for more than 20 minutes

When you have pets or builders or are really deep cleaning everything.

Ohmydayslove · 10/05/2018 08:16

Gosh 20 mins is nothing to hoover. I have to hoover my parents house too so drives me insane

ReallyLongBook · 10/05/2018 08:30

I always use mine on max (it is a V6) and it last for 6 mins. That's enough to do a quick daily sweep around either upstairs or downstairs.
I've got two - one I keep upstairs and one for downstairs. The idea is that they are for the daily/every other day quick whip rounds. Sometimes I run out of charge on one and then go and get the other before I've finished a job - but that's rare.

I've also got a corded Miele vacuum - but I haven't used it for over a year. The advantage of not having a cord outweighs the battery issue for me (and sometimes I like it - if I really can't be arsed I know it will be over in 6 mins!). I found getting out the hair from the head a pain to start with (3 x people with long dark hair in the house!) but it doesn't bother me now - just accept it.

UrsulaPandress · 10/05/2018 08:36

DH bought one recently. He seems to quite like it.

I'm like nature .......

I abhor a vacuum.

TheWernethWife · 10/05/2018 08:43

I have the Gtech Airam plus the hand held one, love it.

Cobblersandhogwash · 10/05/2018 08:51

Dyson is a rubbish hoover.
