I feel like this might be a stupid post and that maybe all women experience this but when I'm on my period it's excruciatingly painful and I pass huge lumps of tissue (not clots) like the one in the picture down below. Am I the only person who experiences this. It's been happening to me for years and years.

Thanks for any help and advice and if I'm being unreasonable and this is totally normal please be kind to me 🙏🏻 xx

Go to the doctor and ask them the same!

Bel04 · 09/05/2018 11:18

@AnathemaPulsifer I am too embarrassed!! 🤭😳

Needs a more specific warning in the title. Gross 😷

theWarOnPeace · 09/05/2018 11:19

For me, normal to be horrendous and painful and pass clots and tissue etc. BUT go to see your GP. I’ve had every check and scan and thing that’s available and there’s nothing technically ‘wrong’, but you need to be sure. They did ask me if I wanted to try some medication, I can’t remember what it was called as I refused. I do find that exercise and a semi-clean diet have been helpful. I get a really craving for carbs and sugar and meat in the week before my period and I never really restrict that, but once I get my period I stick to lighter foods and it seems to have improved the heaviness somehow.

MrsPreston11 · 09/05/2018 11:19

I pass lumps of tissue like that too, kind of grey-ish.

Well, I do when I'm not on birth control. I've had the implant for the last few years, much much lighter periods.

pigmcpigface · 09/05/2018 11:20

I think this is fairly common. I have huge clots and tissue as well. See your GP just to make sure, however. Anaemia is a real risk if you are bleeding heavily, and it can come on really stealthily.

FloatyFlo · 09/05/2018 11:21

What a helpful reply Eripley

If not normal for you OP then maybe a chat with GP?

thetemptationofchocolate · 09/05/2018 11:24

I used to get that. I'd pass a large solid lump of bloody stuff, usually accompanied by a rush of liquid blood which would defeat the most gargantuan pads/tampons. I also had many scans etc. and was told there was nothing wrong. You have my sympathy OP, I found all of this very distressing and it bloody hurt, passing those.
I say I used to get this, I am post-menopausal now so it's a thing of the past for me thank goodness.

Onlyoldontheoutside · 09/05/2018 11:25

Yes,I had that with horrendously painful period for the first few days.
Do go to your GP as they can help, explain how debilitating it is and how much it is affecting your life.
I went on the pill at 19 and had light periods,no casting tissue. If your the right age this is your best bet.
But yes it is normal for some of us and shit.

adaline · 09/05/2018 11:26

Why would you post pictures of your period clots on the internet? Go to a GP! Envy

LagunaBubbles · 09/05/2018 11:28

Why havent you been to your GP? Confused

ERipley · 09/05/2018 11:28

It’s not that I mind the photo, I would have just liked a more specific warning. I’m eating.

o0o0 · 09/05/2018 11:30

maybe I'm psychic but I knew it would be a weird discharge kind of post from the title. If you're eating, don't click on a post titled 'TMI' because 9/10 it'll be something quite grim Wink

OP I get something similar to this. But as many have said, if you're concerned - go to GP!

Passthesalt1 · 09/05/2018 11:30

People who clicked on the post with a warning title need to get over themselves. It’s a bloody clot nothing horrendous.

Also op I get this and was told I’m fine after tests scan etc.

HopefullyAnonymous · 09/05/2018 11:30

I often get this. Totally normal for me. I believe it’s the actual lining of the womb, shed very quickly rather than slowly across your period. Google decidual cast for more info (and gross pictures Grin )

Mookatron · 09/05/2018 11:30

You know what, I think it's fine to post pictures (with a warning). It's only period blood. Perhaps people would have a better idea of what's normal and what isn't of we had an idea of what other people's experiences are. I'm thinking of the wish whose life was saved by posting on here about her period.

OP I too have had this and went to the doctor's. They probs won't even need to see at as it's fairly normal but thereare things you can do about it. I have the mirena coil which isn't great for everyone but has been brilliant for me.

Bel04 · 09/05/2018 11:31

Thanks for all your lovely replies excluding @ERipley who is apparently grossed out by periods more than a teenage boy lol. I had these huge pieces of what I always think is like muscle in my period ever since I got my period but they were not present when I was on the contraceptive pill. However I can't take that as I suffer with week long migraines when I do anything that imbalances my hormones. When my period first starts I have to stay in bed writhing cause the pain is so so bad. I've tried methanamic acid and that didn't work at all. I've had ultrasounds for other medical reasons and nothing has shown up during one of these. I've also had blood tests for other medical issues, do they look for anaemia or do you need to ask? I've had a lot of health issues of late and have ended up on Harley street and eventually found out I had a very bad infection which the nhs had mistreated with five different antibiotics and now the bacteria are mutated and will be very hard (and expensive) to get rid of. I don't really want to go to the GP as now I find I get increasingly nervous and sweaty going there. I really don't trust them. :/

God horrendous not checking autocorrect sorry! The woman whose life was changed, obviously!

OreoMini · 09/05/2018 11:31

Go to the doctorsConfused no one can tell you what it is on here.

bettytaghetti · 09/05/2018 11:34

For me it was a sign of uterine cysts. Unfortunately it got a whole lot worse than that. I returned home one day wearing white jeans that were no longer white (tmi, sorry!), and was absolutely mortified to think I had just been riding up the (quite long) escalators at North Greenwich station like this. Mortificado!
After removal of cysts and mirena fitted things are much better. Please don't be embarrassed to see a doctor.

GratedCarrotStick · 09/05/2018 11:34

I use to get this when I was younger with excruciating cramps making me vomit and unable to get out of bed. Dr put me on the pill at 13 and it really helped. Would be worth a visit to the gp they've seen and heard it all before.

Bel04 · 09/05/2018 11:35

I know the obvious thing seems to go to my GP but I just can't bring myself to go and see them after they've made me so so ill. The trust just isn't there and I can't afford to go privately for a second health issue. I just wonder if the pain is the hymen having to stretch to allow large masses out. I wish the natural ballshit remedies on the Internet actually worked haha.

OP posts:
SergeantCalhoun · 09/05/2018 11:39

Very normal if you're otherwise well. The older I get it's like bits of steak.

robinsinthespring · 09/05/2018 11:39

I had these clots/lumps of tissue with every period. I never worried about them. As others have said, go to your GP if you are worried. I am way past the menopause now.

DistanceCall · 09/05/2018 11:40

You're too embarrassed to go to the doctor? Are you insane?

That's what doctors do for a living, FFS!!!!!
