Why not ask their new Director of Programmes @iankatz1000 what his wife's @Justine_Roberts thinks of #Genderquake ? Oh and how is @MumsnetTowers getting on with its feminist purge?

Miss Ellie's second husband was Clayton Farlow - now he was a good ole Texas guy.

The character which had me laughing the most was Cliff Barnes - mad as a box of frogs Grin

DevilsDoorbell · 09/05/2018 20:07

Anyone else now feeling the need to go watch the original Dallas?

SeahorsesAREhorses · 09/05/2018 20:23

Wasn't there a whole season when Pam was covered in bandages, then came out as a different actor?

Almost the entire nation used to watch Dallas, think there was only 3 channels then. Happy days.

affectionincoldclimate · 09/05/2018 20:48

Oooh Dallas thread!

You're a drunk and a tramp and an unfit mother!

Well, in RL my DD has a boyfriend who is from Texas and it’s rather disappointing that he doesn’t tip his non-existent Stetson and say “Howdy Ma’am.”

GladAllOver · 09/05/2018 21:09

I often drive past Mumsnet Towers. Next time I'll be singing:
DAH dah DAH, dah DAH dadadahdah, DAH DAH DAH dadadah...

HoosierDaddy · 09/05/2018 21:19

I wasn't allowed to watch Dallas or Dynasty, but had a free run at The Beverly Hillbillies... pretty much same thing, right?

🎶Now, here's a story 'bout a man named Jed🎶

Anasnake · 09/05/2018 21:25

Pam's brother was Cliff (Digger) Barnes I think. Who was Ray Krebbes ?? There was always a bit of a ding dong between JR and Barnes, usually at the oil baron's ball.

Anasnake · 09/05/2018 21:26

And Terry Wogan called Lucy Ewing the 'poison dwarf'

Anasnake · 09/05/2018 21:29

Oops Digger was Cliff's dad, got that bit wrong - big rival of Jock's

Nextloorejext · 09/05/2018 22:10

“Bobby Ewing was the Man From Atlantis?! That's insane.“ - did people really not know this! 😯. He was also Manimal too.

Nextloorejext · 09/05/2018 22:11

Was Miss Ellie’s 2nd husband not Howard Keele? Or did i just dream that?

CanIBuffalo · 09/05/2018 22:17

I think he was.
Or a v good looky likey

TinselAngel · 09/05/2018 22:18

Yes it was Howard Keel.

Hence why when I pressed play on the CD player for the welcome music at my Grandma's funeral, the Dallas theme tune blared out, much to my surprise and then amusement.

Bizarrely it was on Howard Keel's greatest hits. (He was her favourite, particularly in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers).

Nextloorejext · 09/05/2018 22:24

Sorry but it’s Calamity Jane all the way. Miss Ellie looks a wee bit Doris Day now i think if her.

TeisanLap · 10/05/2018 03:51

Who did shoot JR? I've forgotten.

I did. From a chair in the corner of my grans living room. I’d heard people speaking about what was going to happen so I set myself up in my corner and at the right minute I got a toy machine gun from under my chair and I mowed him down. Everyone jumped and missed the actual tv shooting. I got my backside tanned for my efforts but even now all these years later what I did still makes me laugh.

I can even recall blowing the end of the gun just like John Wayne did.

TeisanLap · 10/05/2018 03:56

Sorry, I got told I needed my backside tanned and if I’d been younger I would have had it tanned. It wasn’t what they expected to happen at all on a big. familiy night in to see JR get shot. And it certainly wasn’t what they expected a new mum with a week old baby to do.

There’s no one alive now to laugh about it with me but I still love remembering it.

SeahorsesAREhorses · 10/05/2018 05:52

Glorious Teisan Grin

SeahorsesAREhorses · 10/05/2018 05:56

So, Justine, you're outing yourself as a Dallas fan, rather than a Dynasty fan?

Mumsnet provides an open forum where we can discuss Dallas AND Dynasty, so long as we keep to the talk guidelines.

Dynasty was way more glam wasn't it though, costumes were ace. I have a precious morning off today so I'm gonna watch some more of the new one.

TeisanLap · 10/05/2018 06:08

*Glorious Teisan grin•

I thought it was really funny. And I nearly did get my backside tanned by one of my old aunties. She took a swipe at me when i was on my way out the door then said thank your lucky stars you’re now too old for a well smacked arse m’lady.

And that in itself was funny because they’d all come up to to my grannies after Confession and another aunty said to her stop swearing Kathleen you’ve just been to confession.

Giantvalueshrimps · 10/05/2018 07:06

Funny Teisan - thanks for sharing! 😂

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/05/2018 12:22

I wanted a Dallas /Dynasty childbirth
10 seconds of pushing followed by appearing 10 min later perfectly groomed with a full face of make up and a 6 month old baby.

ItWillAllBeFine · 10/05/2018 15:23

"Swellan, you're a tramp, a drunk, and an unfit mutha"
Best line ever.

Well, naturally, I watched them both but imho Dynasty was a pale imitation of Dallas. Knots Landing on the other hand... (Now there was a theme tune!)
