Went on a bizarre date

Tinder. He was a bit pissed when I arrived. His friend, who was also on a first date, ended up crashing halfway through with his date and sort of tried it on with me?! The only redeeming feature was the guy paid for it all so I had free drinks at least. I did tell him a lot at the time that it was very weird. He’s been bombarding me with messages trying to apologise for it all and I haven’t replied - do I say anything? I get the impression he was nice but pissed, not sure if I should make my feelings a bit clear. If I’m honest it is insulting to be treated like that.

I had a sort of similar first date with a guy about three years ago, also tinder. He turned up half an hour late, terribly hungover and sporting a black eye from the night before. If first impressions mean anything then he massively screwed up. He did pay for the drinks and was very lovely so that redeemed things slightly however towards the end of the date his friends conveniently walked into the bar and instead of just greeting them he invited them to sit with us. I was largely ignored by them so I made excuses and left. He did what your date has done and profusely apologised afterwards so I forgave him and we had a lovely second and third date but he did transpire to be a massive arsehole with a lot of issues in the end so kinda wish I’d left it at the shit first date looking back .

Go with your gut OP. If you really didn’t like him, fuck him off.

Pissed but nice is forgivable, maybe he was nervous? You don't get a second chance to make a first impression so go with your gut.
