Anyone else fuming about what Donald Trump said in his speech in Texas yesterday? He was criticising Britain's strict gun laws and was basically saying that because of these laws,there had been an surge in the number of stabbings. He said there that a London hospital ward 'looked like a war zone,with blood all over the floor'.

I think he should be more concerned with the blood on the floors of American schools.

Even Sweden has a higher rate of homicide than UK year after year

I'd also point out Switzerland has the highest gun ownership in the world, roughly 3 per adult head of population and almost no gun crime? Why? because every Swiss adult has to do national service, for which they ae assessed, and they don't get a licence if they have psychiatric illnesses.

The UK comes in at No 176 with 0.92, so London does have worse gun statistics from Sweden. USA is no 92, with 4.88. Way after all the African, Caribbean and Latin American countries

mr t is a bit rich mentioning london's knife crime when the us has a major issue with gun injuries (many accidental), which leave a&e in a bloody mess as well.

I assume because guns are more fatal than knives the victims don't go to a&e.

What Trump has said is clearly ridiculous hyperbole but it's not that much worse than what UK left wing politicians have said is happening regarding knife crime and blaming it on the Tories.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at his latest outpouring of crap after his response to the Florida high school shooting in February this year. Yeah,give the teachers guns to defend themselves and the pupils. What a great idea! Here we have a country with a major gun problem. So what shall we do? Let's throw more guns into the mix. That'll help.
