Is it normal to feel really down and guilt after a night out?

Please go easy feeling really rubbish like Iv let my kids down. Had a rare night out last night at a friends house stayed up late had about 1.5 hours sleep due to worrying none stop about being a bad person. I must add I don’t drink very often at all but when I do it does seem to be a lot. Have 3 children that stayed at GPs so was happy and safe (would never drink looking after them) I don’t feel hungover just very tired. Does anyone else get like this or AIBU?

Urgh Beer Fear. One of the reasons I don’t drink much anymore! It’s awful.

I'm so so glad other people experience this and I'm not completely abnormal. It's horrendous and one of the reasons I don't get drunk anymore. Intense shame, panic and misery the next day and there's almost never any justification. Definitely worse since having children so have just stopped getting drunk.

You know your kids will be happier if you are fulfilled and have some enjoyment in your life that’s not about them.
Cut yourself some slack, you are allowed a life Flowers

I get this big time after a heavy evening. Trying to avoid it these days. At uni it was called 'Beer Fear' - it's awful. It'll be better tomorrow, just look after yourself today - lots of veg and fluids :)

Alcohol and drugs use up all the next days supply of happy chemicals in one big hit. Leave you feeling rubbish.

I've struggled with low level anxiety for a while now, but it's only recently I have started feeling like exactly how you describe after I've been drinking. It's strange because I know I obviously haven't done anything wrong at all but it's still there. Makes me see that alcohol isn't a friend in these situations.
