To be concerned about my 3 year old's behaviour with his penis?

My 3yo is going through the standard phase of touching himself all the time which is fine as I know it's a 'thing' and I just ignore it.

However, he is saying stuff to my 2yo like 'my willy is out come and touch it'.

What the...? Is this normal?

I think you're spot on pot.

It's possible for parents to say "yep, similar behaviour here" without sharing penis exploration stories for any old weirdo to read. I'd feel a bit sick to think some oddball had got off to a story I'd overshared about my child.

Dgs thinks there's a baby willy inside his as it got bigger, he came running out the bathroom to show everyone. Two days later he is abit annoyed he hasn't got his 2nd one yet Grin

@ *I've got a builder’s willy!” 😂

Oh my dn did this. Totally normal. He took the "we only do that in our bedroom with the door closed as it's private", very well but then my dd2 was born when he was only 4 and he would get his face really, really close to my dds bits during nappy change. After about 6 weeks he goes to me "Aunty namechanger what's happened to baby's willy?"
I am ashamed to admit that I was unable to answer him because I was laughing so hard until his dickhead of a dad (whole other thread) said "Aunty Namechanger didn't want her baby to have a willy so she chopped it off", It didn't matter what I tried to say to dn after that, the damage was done and for the next 6 months or so his hands were back down his pants constantly checking to make sure it was still there.

My youngest dd has just discovered herself (much to her father's horror), and I did worry it wasn't normal for girls that young, but it's totally normal for both. It's nothing sexual at this age it is mainly a comfort thing as it feels nice and sometimes a shock tactict. Ignore the comments (unless it becomes a bigger issue) and just continue to explain that this is something he needs to do in his bedroom.

I think girls on average just learn discretion alot quicker and realise that it won't disappear if u don't have ur hand cupping it constantly and it certainly won't run away if u don't fiddle with it all the time lol.

I do wonder the real reason why blokes seem to have such an attachment to their willies though. There must be a real reason as I have never met a bloke who didn't do it at least some of the time.

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 04/05/2018 19:59

So he hasn't yet got to the 'rubbing it on everyone and finding it hilarious' stage yet. Something to look forward to then Grin

I have two boys who are 3 and 4. Neither of them mentions their willy at all - except maybe in the bath. I've never noticed either of them have an erection?? But think it's normal and expect to have a 'willies are private' talk at some point.

Mumofkids · 04/05/2018 20:39

Genuinely horrified by your comments @potthered it's an anonymous online forum with nothing identifying to anyone, harmless chat about normal children. I find the comments suggesting people should not discuss normal childhood activity as rather sick.

FoxySamanthaPetersonTheCat · 04/05/2018 20:41

Totally normal. Girls do it too but boys seem to do it more (in my experience and talking to other parents). I’ve yet to meet a little boy who hasn’t been obsessed with his willy at some point 🙄

vampirethriller · 04/05/2018 21:48

My little brother had those underpants with the holes at the side and liked telling people to look at the hole his willy came out of. If you weren't quick enough he'd usually give a demonstration.
Supermarkets were a nightmare.

Ha. DS was in a pram at the London 2012 . I got ushered through the fast track for assisted spectators and was having a nice chat with a Games maker while waiting for DM to catch up with the rest of the family. DS with the repeated 'Mummy!' in my ear and I was practising teaching him not to interrupt. When I turned round a minute later to ask him, he had his pants pushed down and was trying to tell me 'Look, my willy's all big'.

If the Games Maker is reading this, thank you so much for pretending not to have noticed!

Do they ever grow out of this? Asking for a friend Grin
