To be really excited because i've just bought a new rotary drier?

I think I have reached peak adulting today.

Saw a Brabantia Rotary drier in Dunelm last week and after umming and aahing over it, have bought it.

I currently have some throws in the wash which will be left out overnight to be darked on. I am that excited! I even love the little peg bag that comes with it.

The only thing that would top this is going to choose a new fridge freezer.

Tell me your peak adulting stories!

Oh. I want a rotary wider .....

MycatsaPirate · 03/05/2018 19:26

We already had one but it was little and really couldn't get much on it and definitely not bedding. The new one is huge!

I am going to see just how much stuff it holds tomorrow when I plan on doing two throws and all the bedding.

I can't begin to tell you how excited I was when I bought a new ironing board. I ironed everything that week :)

PollyCotton · 03/05/2018 19:34

I've got a portable rotary line but am looking for a more permanent one - current one is small & blows over easily if there's much on it/at all windy. Any recommendations?

MycatsaPirate · 03/05/2018 19:37

use I bought DP a new ironing board and new iron. He does all the ironing here. I do all the laundry. We are both happy!

Polly I have just hung two double throws out on my new drier and it's literally taken up a tiny fraction of the line. It has 50m of drying line plus little hooks on each corner for hangers to go on for shirts. Brabantia - it was costly but I think it will pay for itself over the next two years in less tumble drier use. Got ours in Dunelm but they have them on the Brabantia website plus on Amazon.

I have two of these wonders. Mounted on opposite walls. Fold back in one movement. Very sturdy and secure.

I love those Ophelia but there is nowhere for them to go in our garden. That would have been my preferred option as they get tucked away against the house when not in use. Although I can put this one away and it has a little cover for the ground spike.

I also love that Brabantia plant a tree every time you buy one.

We are renting and have been in this house for two years and only now do I feel that the laundry system in finally in place. I am truly happy!

We'd been married over twenty five years before we bought any 'proper' furniture, ie not Ikea bookcases and tables. When we first married we had a garden table as a dining table, a couple of old church chairs and a bed my Dad made for us, bless the Reader's Digest DIY book, we were so hard-up. A long period of living abroad in furnished quarters followed and when we eventually returned to UK after 15 years my mother suddenly decided that they needed all new furniture, hence we copped for the old stuff.
It seemed so odd to go out and buy furniture!

tillytrotter1 · 03/05/2018 20:08

This post reminds me that I need to re-thread our rotary drier, the old line has broken in so many places. Need to take pictures of the original threading!

Supermagicsmile · 03/05/2018 20:14

How much was it op? Do you have a link to it? I want one!

MycatsaPirate · 03/05/2018 20:40

Dunhelm are selling them for £75 complete with the dinky peg bag, pegs and the cover. Feels very extravagant spending that much but it is massive! I have three double throws out on it right now and it takes up three outside lines. I am mentally working out how much I could get on it and it's loads.

I have one and I love it! My FIL calls it the space ship HmmGrin

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 03/05/2018 20:50

I have a wonderful rotary drier that has been in garage for over ten years as our soil is too shallow and stony to hammer the supporting spike /hole into!

NorksAreMessy · 03/05/2018 20:53

I was STUPIDLY excited when we got a LaundryMaid indoor drying rack thingy.
I am a 54

rosie39forever · 03/05/2018 20:53

I’ll see your rotary drier and raise you a brand new strimmer!!! Can’t wait to get out and do the edges of the lawn.. I am very adult.

EyeDrops · 03/05/2018 23:17

I need a strimmer... and would LOVE a rotary drier....

My peak adulting, I think I mentioned on a thread a while back, is having mastered folding a fitted sheet. I feel SO PROUD every time I do it. I can't stop smoothing my hands over it and grinning like a loon.

MycatsaPirate · 04/05/2018 18:15

Oooh! A new strimmer is VERY exciting! I cut the grass two weeks ago and did the strimming and it already looks like Theresa May might like to run through it.

DP's peak adulting was buying a pressure washer last year and cleaned our front path. It looked so great he proceeded to do every neighbour's path he could reach. He's excited by the fact that they need doing again.....

I have just bought that EXACT rotary drier too, it feels a very grown up one! Our last one was weedy and bent in half, this ones proper sturdy.
it was £50 on Amazon when I bought it

Tidypidy · 04/05/2018 18:37

My Brabantia washing line is still the best birthday present I've had in 18 years from my MIL! It certainly beat the metal detector I had the previous Christmas from her into a cocked hat.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 05/05/2018 11:45

A word of warning OP. Make sure you use the brightly coloured cap for the pole that goes underground. We didn't and we've lost it. Haven't been able to use the dryer for years. And yes, we looked really thoroughly!

Alexkate2468 · 05/05/2018 11:48

I might ask for one for my birthday Smile
Congratulations OP I'm really pleased (and slightly envious) for you

Tidypidy · 05/05/2018 19:03

Down you need my metal detector!

Jenijena · 05/05/2018 19:07

My brabantia rotary beast (a maternity leave purchase, the time I get most excited about the domestic) held SIX loads today and it is all dry and put away. DH did about 90% of the work, so I’m claiming little credit.

BeijingBarbie · 05/05/2018 19:09

I’ve had one for a few years now and I never knew those little holes were for hangers 🙈

PaperTrain · 05/05/2018 19:21

Ha, just ordered the same thing and oddly looking forward to it arriving!
