Is this a sad way to spend a birthday?

It's my birthday today but am celebrating with family tomorrow. I hadn't bothered to organise anything for tonight because I was supposed to be at a community activity that I'm involved in and had to miss a few meetings recently so didn't want to miss this one as well (no one there knows its my birthday). About twenty minutes ago the meeting was cancelled due to a key person being ill.

So basically my family won't be around until tomorrow and I've no plans for tonight. I don't really want to make a last minute arrangement to meet up with friends (I don't tend to broadcast that it's my birthday). I'd quite like to just have a couple of glasses of wine and watch telly by myself. Does that sound sad? I've never spent my birthday on my own before?

Not sad at all.

A birthday alone with wine and TV sounds blissful.

MiddlingMum · 26/04/2018 16:12

Sounds perfect to me. Why no chocolate though???

chocatoo · 26/04/2018 16:14

Happy birthday! Enjoy!

oakthorn · 26/04/2018 16:15

Add a pizza in to the mix and a good book and that is my idea of a heavenly birthday.
Happy 🎂

Whatevszz · 26/04/2018 16:16

Ooh get some nice cheese and a film/ good programme, sounds perfect. Happy birthday Wine

GeekyWombat · 26/04/2018 16:19

Happy birthday! Might I humbly suggest a takeaway to go with said wine, or if that's a bit much after a big lunch some posh crisps at the very least.

Sounds bliss to me!

MycatsaPirate · 26/04/2018 16:22

Happy birthday! I think having an entire evening on your own wit sole control of the TV remote and wine sounds utterly bliss (although I'd substitute the wine out in favour of coffee).

Buy some nice snacks too. Fuck it. You are only here once!

It's my dp's 60th birthday tomorrow and I feel bad that we have no grand plans to celebrate. But he says he's happy going out for dinner with me and the dc and I am making him a cheesecake.

FullMetalRabbit · 26/04/2018 16:28

I had a big birthday this year and we celebrated it at the weekend instead of the crappy weekday it was on. The weird thing was, on my actually birthday, it didn't feel like my birthday, so it really is a state of mind!

Happy Birthday Flowers

I spent my birthday yesterday in hospital miscarrying my baby. I’d much prefer your day.

So sorry for your loss KeefBurtain that is truely shit. Flowers

A4710Rider · 26/04/2018 16:42

I'm not referring to the OP but it's strange how some people are needy about their birthdays and some not.

One close friend HAS to go out on the actual day on his Birthday and is put out if people don't want to go for drinks on a Monday night. I, on the other hand, couldn't give a shite about my birthday and barely given it a second thougt.

Minnie13 · 26/04/2018 16:43

Sounds like heaven! Happy birthday!

KeefBurtain · 26/04/2018 16:46

Sorry, I shouldn’t have posted it on a thread that I can see now was meant in a lighthearted way.

I’m a bit lost at the minute.

I hope you have a lovely birthday

Serialweightwatcher · 26/04/2018 16:46
