To have got her kicked off the bus?

Feeling a bit mixed about this. I was travelling on a bus and a woman got on who was clearly very drunk (it was 2pm). She was ranting and swearing and saying the c word a lot. She sat near the front rambling, I was at the back and ignored her.

Within minutes she was pestering everyone for the time. Every time she was told 'it's 2pm' she shouted '2pm? It can't be! Oi you! What's the fucking time!' All the way around the bus. There were elderly passengers clearly uncomfortable and intimidated. One even moved upstairs to get away from her.

Finally she yelled at me for the time. I ignored her and read mumsnet. Then she yelled, 'oi girl! What's the time?!' I rolled my eyes dramatically and said 'it's 2pm, like you've been told a dozen times already, now shut up because no one here wants to listen to your drunken ranting.'

She kicked off but I didn't engage, just looked her in the eye and would smile or raise my eyebrows etc when she demanded to know where I was from, where I was going and she'd get her family to fuck me up. I couldn't hide a smile when she accosted some poor man and said 'shes your mrs isn't she? You need to tell her to watch herself'.

I'm normally a keep your head down and stay out of it kind of person. But she was so disruptive. Eventually the driver kicked her off the bus, then apologised to me (!) and people said 'good on you for standing up to her. But I just feel I was a bit of a gobby cow and made a scene. I'm embarrassed I lost my shit.

Sorry this was long. Feel free to tell me I'm mouthy and I'll duct tape my mouth next time! Grin

It doesn't sound as though 'it's 2pm, like you've been told a dozen times already, now shut up because no one here wants to listen to your drunken ranting helped that much.

To be honest, it probably would have more sensible to have just asked the driver to stop and get her off the bus.

SecretRed · 25/04/2018 20:38

If you don't believe what an op is saying then report and move on.
All this smug 'I don't really think this happened' is really wanky.

StaplesCorner · 25/04/2018 20:39

StaplesCorner - great name btw.. I went around Staples corner on my motorbike many times

OMFG FourFried - you are the ONLY person EVAH to have got my user name. Where have you beeeeeeeen?

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/04/2018 20:41

" Where have you beeeeeeeen? "

Grin North West London funnily enough....(not any more but i was raised there)

Notevilstepmother · 25/04/2018 20:41

Whilst I feel sorry for those who have alcohol problems, it may be considered a disease in the USA, but it isn’t here.

I feel more sorry for those who have to put up with the consequences.

ilovesooty · 25/04/2018 20:42

I said it is an illness not a disease.

blankstares · 25/04/2018 20:53

Was this by any chance in North London? There is a woman who is always drunk, always harrassing people asking for the time or money and regularly steals from the local shops. She's really bloody annoying.

iloveruby · 25/04/2018 20:57

I don’t know why the OP is getting such a hard time - this woman was being really anti-social and shouldn’t have been on public transport behaving like that.
Good for you OP! And ignore all the ridiculous comments on this thread....

nakedscientist · 25/04/2018 20:58

I think it was your fault for sitting in the fly space... Grin

TheFirstMrsDV · 25/04/2018 21:02

Is there a back story to the troll accusations because this doesn't sound unlikely to me at all.
I have been using public transport in London for nearly 50 years and the OP seems perfectly normal to me.
Maybe I am particularly gobby too. I have told people to pack it in on the bus several times Grin

reddingtn · 25/04/2018 21:05

Not London but SE. Bit of a drinking culture in this town and not unusual to walk past Wetherspoons at 10am and see it full of people drinking pints... so not unusual here!

Wondering if the people who don't believe it are also people who don't use public transport very much.....

Okaynowimconfused · 25/04/2018 21:11

No idea why anyone would doubt this story.

Good on you OP. I can understand it playing on your mind if this is out of character for you - I'd be exactly the same.

Pinga · 25/04/2018 21:19

feelinggoodinspring My thought also.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 25/04/2018 21:22

There you are OP, it depends who you are, not what you post. The arse-lickers are in.

I hope MNHQ hit the ban button; there are many nicer posters who've been banned for troll-hunting.

SeasonalVag · 25/04/2018 21:30

Well for a start, picking up a phone to film would become totally inflammatory so I very much doubt the whole thing tbh

Pinga · 25/04/2018 21:37

Anyone who doesnt believe this sort of thing happens clearly never travels on public transport. Covertly filming on a phone isnt exactly hard either.

Lacucuracha · 25/04/2018 21:39

@ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo
@hazell42

Why don't you get your own backbones instead of being jealous of OP's?

Shedmicehugh1 · 25/04/2018 21:42

You didn’t get her kicked off, her drunken behaviour did. No need to worry OP, she probably won’t even remember when she wakes up!

Wdigin2this · 25/04/2018 21:45

You did OK, it was a good result, now just shrug it off and forget it!

SeasonalVag · 26/04/2018 06:54

There’s a gleeful air to the post which I really don’t like whether it’s bullshit or not

Juells · 26/04/2018 06:57

I'd feel pretty gleeful and proud of myself as well if I'd managed to stand up to a belligerent drunk.

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/04/2018 07:22

I think op sounds surprised by herself, giving her a mixture of pride and apprehension rather than gleeful or boasting.

hazell42 · 26/04/2018 08:11

I entirely believe that drunk people misbehave on public transport. I even believe they irritate passengers by asking the time.
According to your statements she was drunk. She asked the time. Everyone else told her the time. You, for no particular reason that I can see, took it upon yourself to tell her off, put her in her place and get her 'kicked off the bus.'
I hope you made this up because otherwise you are not a very nice person. Could you not just have said '2pm' like everyone else? You stirred up a drunken woman so that she became angry for no other reason than so You could boast about it on MN

Well done you
