To have got her kicked off the bus?

Feeling a bit mixed about this. I was travelling on a bus and a woman got on who was clearly very drunk (it was 2pm). She was ranting and swearing and saying the c word a lot. She sat near the front rambling, I was at the back and ignored her.

Within minutes she was pestering everyone for the time. Every time she was told 'it's 2pm' she shouted '2pm? It can't be! Oi you! What's the fucking time!' All the way around the bus. There were elderly passengers clearly uncomfortable and intimidated. One even moved upstairs to get away from her.

Finally she yelled at me for the time. I ignored her and read mumsnet. Then she yelled, 'oi girl! What's the time?!' I rolled my eyes dramatically and said 'it's 2pm, like you've been told a dozen times already, now shut up because no one here wants to listen to your drunken ranting.'

She kicked off but I didn't engage, just looked her in the eye and would smile or raise my eyebrows etc when she demanded to know where I was from, where I was going and she'd get her family to fuck me up. I couldn't hide a smile when she accosted some poor man and said 'shes your mrs isn't she? You need to tell her to watch herself'.

I'm normally a keep your head down and stay out of it kind of person. But she was so disruptive. Eventually the driver kicked her off the bus, then apologised to me (!) and people said 'good on you for standing up to her. But I just feel I was a bit of a gobby cow and made a scene. I'm embarrassed I lost my shit.

Sorry this was long. Feel free to tell me I'm mouthy and I'll duct tape my mouth next time! Grin

The exchange went on for several minutes Sprinklesinmyelbow purely aimed at me. I didn't antagonise but stood my ground and made several comments back.

LorelaiRoryEmily if I'd ignored her I doubt she'd have been removed. It was only after she threatened to set her family on me that she was asked to leave.

Not sure why people think I'm a troll/are being sarcastic. Each to their own I suppose

YOu should have said "you're right, it's half five"

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 25/04/2018 20:12

I really wish MNHQ put a 'Report pathetic troll hunter' button above each post, it would make it so much easier.

OP, I'm sorry that your thread has been shot through by aforesaid pathetic troll-hunters. Most of the threads on mumsnet are made up/embellished, I don't see why yours has been targeted.

RainbowGlitterFairy · 25/04/2018 20:12

I'd have said its time you bought a fucking watch. Grin so would I, I suspect this is why I get in so many arguments.

EdmundCleverClogs · 25/04/2018 20:13

Righto.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 25/04/2018 20:13

Lol.Check out all the sofa detectives, all chinny strokey and probing questions.
Drilling down on op to umm, establish facts and veracity of story as if it’s their duty

I travel by public transport regularly and I hate the drunks on the bus. Even the jolly ones who want everyone to join in a singsong are intimidating. I always have headphones on, kindle in hand, and refuse to engage in conversation with anyone I don't actually know. I wouldn't have the guts (or the inclination) to confront a woman demanding to know the time.

hudyerwheesht · 25/04/2018 20:25

Bloody hell, first the OP has to deal with a drunken idiot on the bus and now has a chorus of "liar liar pants on fire" on MN.
Why would anyone make up a story that, whilst horrible for them at the time is hardly Daily Mail fodder or the writings of an attention seeking troll?
Jeez. Hmm

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/04/2018 20:27

Personally I wouldn’t have confronted her. It sounded as though she was going to be trouble if anyone challenged her. But that’s your choice. It made for a more pleasant journey without her, I’m sure.

ilovesooty · 25/04/2018 20:28

I'm with wormery

However irritating her behaviour was she may be very unwell. So have you deleted the video?

Can I just say I am going to nick this and try and crow bar it into every situation! Grin

StaplesCorner · 25/04/2018 20:29

Why on MN is everyone who exhibits anti-social behaviour "unwell"?

StaplesCorner · 25/04/2018 20:30

YOu should have said "you're right, it's half five" That's more like it Juells!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 25/04/2018 20:31

I've heard a variation on that before. That one was just a nasty little jibe at the OP to follow-up the troll-hunting.

ilovesooty · 25/04/2018 20:31

Because alcohol dependency is an illness.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/04/2018 20:32

daisychain01 · 25/04/2018 20:34

I do have a video of her being removed from the bus though

Delete it, don't put it on Fb will you?

My first thought was that poor woman, Alcohol is an addictive drug, her life must be shit being drunk at lunchtime Sad

hmcAsWas · 25/04/2018 20:34

If this happened I think you were rash to challenge her - never poke the crazy. I have no problem being assertive but I pick my battles taking care not to confront drunk, lairy or Neanderthal types for example

Pinga · 25/04/2018 20:34

This happened to us on a bus about a month ago. 6pm and a guy on the bus was super super drunk. Ranting and raving. Told my son he had been in prison for being a peado. Told my son he liked to have a wank now and then.

Then he realised that yup the 16yo boy he was talking to was just a boy and was my son.

He was vile to a woman across the bus from me and called her a huge list of names when she got off but somehow I got no abuse.
Huge relief when he got off the bus at his stop.
Happens a lot on buses so I dont know why anyone would be suspicious of the op.

Wincher · 25/04/2018 20:34

I can well imagine this is true, you see stuff like that on the bus all the time round here. There was similar but even more aggressive and scary on the same tube carriage as me the other day, a woman who started having a go at completely random strangers for no reason. And of course on the tube there was no driver in the carriage to step on. As she got off she actually punched a man who had done nothing wrong except stand (it was packed) by the seat she had barged her way to ("Get your dick out of my face!" Screeched at top volume - he was doing nothing wrong).
