I love Michelle Wolf.

roussette Chris Hayes went on Seth Meyers and talked about the phenomenon of how even seemingly "good" people get burned by entering Trump's orbit and get spat back out. Might be of interest

In the scheme of things not that important - but why bring it up at yesterday's rally in Michigan?!
Is it possible he's regretting the decision to come in July?

Donald Trump has again criticised the new home of the US embassy in London, describing the south London location as "lousy" and "horrible".

He spoke at a rally three months after saying the sale of the Grosvenor Square site in Mayfair was a "bad deal".

The US president, who visits the UK in July, had blamed his predecessor, Barack Obama, but the move was agreed during George W Bush's presidency.

Maybe he'll back out. Sure to be a crisis somewhere in the globe that needs his particular attention. Smile

The full Wolf.

At the end she's right on the, ahem, money.
"You actually love Trump and you're profiting from him"
"How broke is Trump?"

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 29/04/2018 10:14

Urgh, just seen that Paul
Ryan has nominated Joel Osteen for the new house chaplain, though not actuallly from a news source so not sure if it’s true or twitter rumour. He’s a wankbadger who runs no risk of being fired for showing compassion or humility.

My word! Michelle Wolf did not pull her punches. I can’t imagine dhe had many friends in the room at the end of that roast.

Roussette · 29/04/2018 11:38

Thanks Pain that was worth watching Grin, loved the 'patented grimace grin' that they talked about with the Fox interview! And so right about the toxicity of Trump.

I watched some of the Michelle Wolf spot at WHC dinner and have to say at times it did make me feel a bit uncomfortable. I just don't think it does the resistance movement any favours to sink really really low which she did at times.

That Osteen bloke is vile, I remember him from the floods and shutting his church doors, he actually said it would end up messing up the interior or some such words. Yuk

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — A Russian mixed martial arts fighter who has connections with President Donald Trump, the president’s personal attorney Michael Cohen and Russian President Vladimir Putin was questioned this week by the FBI, his manager confirmed Saturday.

Mixed martial arts and white supremacists is a thing, weirdly.

Think someone posted this on an earlier thread:

Oooo Putin wants to be Korea peacemaker. The orange one won’t like that.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 29/04/2018 14:15

Yes - I've been wondering about Putin and the whole Korea thing. How does Russia fit in here? How would N. Korea's agreeing to disarm affect Putin? (My grasp of Russia's meddling is a bit woolly!)

cozietoesie · 29/04/2018 14:17

I don't think that NK have actually agreed to 'disarm', though?

Lweji · 29/04/2018 14:26

This is going to be a Mexican stand off in Stockholm, come next October. North + South Korean Presidents, vs China, vs Russia, vs Trump.

Speaking of Mexico and Russia, Trump is already jealous of Putin and wants the World Football Cup in the US+Mexico+Canada (I don't know how that's going to work with that wall) in 2026 and isn't happy that Morocco seems the lead contender.

He's also mixing FIFA with the UN. I bet he can't tell which is which.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump Apr 27

The U.S. has put together a STRONG bid w/ Canada & Mexico for the 2026 World Cup. It would be a shame if countries that we always support were to lobby against the U.S. bid. Why should we be supporting these countries when they don’t support us (including at the United Nations)?

In other news, polls, once again, show support for Trump is in record numbers.

NK have agreed to stop tests. And want denuclearization of the Peninsula.

That NYT article was really good. I share much of the author's feelings. Plus, if the US end up leaving SK, I wouldn't put past NK invading the South again. This time with nuclear weapons.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 29/04/2018 15:11

This is like boris Johnson, Jacob reed-mogg and farage saying they’ll resign/leave the country if Brexit doesn’t happen - it’s an added incentive, not a threat!

Interesting message from Paul Ryan to WH Correspondents' awardees. This is the same guy who sacked the House Chaplain.

"Paul Ryan: "Cheers to the First Amendment""
"Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, who is retiring after this year, isn't at tonight's White House correspondents' dinner, but he did send along a video message to the scholarship winners at the event and other future journalists."

"The video started with light-hearted jokes, and ended with a toast (and a Miller Lite)."

""My message to the next generation of reporters is it's really simple: Know that what you do matters. There's so much noise out there, but our republic does not work without an informed electorate. Pay attention to the policy, not just the personalities. Look at the human impact, not just the horse race. And above all, challenge yourself to challenge us, those of us in to public office. Because what you do, it really matters. It provides transparency and accountability. Done right, journalism cannot just inform but empower citizens. Of course we don't always agree on what's right and what's fair, but that push and pull, that makes us both better. It creates a higher standard. It's part of the genius of this country. And it will endure through any turbulent time. So tonight, I say cheers to the First Amendment and again offer my congratulations, scholarship winners."
