My dd, was about 4’9” in October when she had just turned 14, I don’t think she has grown a lot since then, I read that they stopped growing two years after starting their periods, don’t know if that’s true, but if it is her growing time is nearly up!
I don’t know why she is so tiny, two of her older brothers are nearly 6ft.

RumTiTum · 23/04/2018 16:56

"You will also grow in height. This “growth spurt” happens very quickly. On average, girls grow about 3 inches (8 cm) per year during the growth spurt. Girls usually stop growing taller about 2 years after starting their menstrual period."

Mind you I am not that tall at 5’3”

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/04/2018 16:59

Nothing wrong with being short anyway.
There was a thread the other day about parenting tall children.
Eh?
Are there different types of parenting depending on the height of your child?Confused

kimlo · 23/04/2018 17:02

dd1 is 14 and 5ft.

We're all short, and shes used to being the smallest of her friends. Some of them tower over me.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/04/2018 17:04

Ha, me too.
Dd's boyfriend is 6'5!Grin

eggsandwich · 23/04/2018 17:04

My Dd just got measured at the hospital on Saturday and she’s 5ft 6ins she’s 15, she’s taller than me her dad is 6ft

MissDuke · 23/04/2018 17:05

Parenting tall children that is hilarious Grin

Mine is coming 14 soon and is 4 foot 10 and about 6 stone. I am pretty tall, as is DH so I do expect a sudden growth spurt any day now, though I have been saying that for years haha. Doesn't bother her in the slightest, in fact she likes being small so will be disappointed if and when she does shoot up. Her feet haven't grown in a couple of years either and are size 2, smaller than her much younger sibling.

TeenTimesTwo · 23/04/2018 17:25

13 and a half DD, 149cm (4ft 10.6inch).
Already had main growth spurt. 19yo sister is only 5ft2. DD2 will be smaller.

LakieLady · 23/04/2018 17:36

I always heard girls stopped soon after their periods started..

Every day's a school day on here! I never knew that. It explains why I was 5'5" at 11 and stopped growing at 12, when I was 5'6". My periods started when I was 10.5.

My mum thought I was going to be a bloody giant. I was the tallest child in my last year in primary and taller than most of the teachers.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/04/2018 17:44

The parent/OP of the tall parenting thread had a two yr old.
Nowt as queer as folk.HmmConfused

Aragog · 23/04/2018 17:47

Mine's only 5.1 ....is that really small?

It's my height now as a grow adult. I don't find it really short tbh, though it sounds it. I know several women that height and shorter, of a range of ages.

DD was about 5'3 at 13/14. She's now 5'4" at 16y and has been a while - can't see her growing any more.

Her female friends of the same age seem to range between about 5'1" and 6'1".

endofacentury · 23/04/2018 17:47

My 13 yo dd is about 5'6 but I am tall so only to be expected

Aragog · 23/04/2018 17:49

I read that they stopped growing two years after starting their periods,

DD started her periods at 10y; stopped growing at about 14/15y.

AnnDerry · 23/04/2018 17:50

DD2 is 14 and 5'11" (possibly still growing but has slowed down a lot - grew 6" from aged 11-13)

DD1 was 5'5" at aged 12 and then stopped growing.

DH is a giant.
I am tall(ish)

YoloSwaggins · 23/04/2018 17:50

I was 5"1 at 13 and still 5"1 at 24 Grin

Never had the elusive mythical "growth spurt"

ihearttc · 23/04/2018 17:51

Im 4ft 10 (and over 40!).

I started my periods at 13 and didn't grow anymore after that.

EttieKett · 23/04/2018 17:52

5 foot 11. She's 13. I am 5 foot 1. Confused

EttieKett · 23/04/2018 17:53

BTW, OP, if your DD ends up being 5 foot 1, there's nowt wrong with that. Other than not being able to see at gigs!

woodenstag · 23/04/2018 17:53

My 13 yo dd is 5 foot 9 with size 8 feet.

pointythings · 23/04/2018 18:06

While the stats about periods and ending growth and growth rates at particular ages may apply at population level, that doesn't mean they will apply to individuals.

DD1 started periods at 13 and 5 ft 6. She is now 17 and 5'9, not done growing yet. DD2 is 15 and hasn't started periods yet (but is developing normally and we have a history of late onset on my side) - she's 5'8 and still growing.

RumTiTum · 23/04/2018 18:28

I would like to point out I did put usually not always stop growing, I realise everyone is different!

DragonsAndCakes · 23/04/2018 18:32

Sorry, misread it as DS.

I was in Western Australia a few years ago and at 5ft 2, felt a pretty average height amongst the women I saw.

Gingerninj · 23/04/2018 18:34

DD is 13 and very nearly 5'4, that's very tall compared to all the other women in the family 😂
