The only time the low offer is OK, is when there is no more than 2 or 3 grand between that and the cashbuilder (the amount the contestant got in the quickfire round on his/her own.) Eg, if they got 2 questions right (and got 2 grand,) and the low offer is minus 1 grand, OR they got 4 questions right and got a low offer of 2 grand, then that's not so bad.
When there is so little difference, they may as well go for the low offer, OR the high offer. When they get 5 grand on the cashbuilder and then go for minus 5, that is awful IMO. One girl the other day, took MINUS 8!
(Her cashbuilder was about 6 grand too.!)
Also, I have seen people take a minus 3 offer, when they are the third contestant up, and there is only 10 grand in the bloody pot! Reducing it to 7 grand (after 3 players have been up!!!)
The American CHASE offers $2,000 per question, (in the cashbuilder,) which is about £1.500 - so it's about time the UK amount was changed. Especially as it's been the same since the beginning, 9-10 years ago!
@HollowTalk
Has anyone seen the US version of The Chase? I love it. The rapport between The Beast grin and the host is amazing. The panellists are a lot brighter, too, and play for a higher prize.
Disagree largely with this! ^ The American host drives me batshit. She is very irritating, her voice grates on me, and no, the contestants are not 'a lot brighter' at all.
(Certainly not on the ones I have seen anyway, and I have seen at least 3 dozen shows of the American version....)
