What time is best to wait until to let your kids play in the garden?

Our dc have just turned 2 and since the weather has brightened up love being in the garden playing.
One of them woke up at 430 this morning and has been asking non stop to go in the garden and is now having a mighty tantrum about it Blush but I think it's not fair on our neighbours to have kids playing noisily in the garden early in the morning and they should wait until 9, DP thinks they can go and play now.

What time is reasonable?

8am would be reasonable I think, 7.30 at a push... I would be distinctly unimpressed at 4.30am!!!

4.30 is ridiculous.
whatever time you are happy to be in the garden keeping an eye, after 9 sounds reasonable.

To be clear we were never entertaining the idea at 4.30! My point was he's been asking and crying about it for 3 hours, DP thinks now is fine (7.30) I thought 9.

We stick to 9:00 in the week and 10:00 at weekends. An hour earlier would be fine if they could play out quietly but, like most children, they can't.

My neighbours one side are retired, so I wouldn't want to disturb them. Depends on your neighbours. Are they all up getting the children ready for school ?

people might be up at 7.30 but it doesnt mean they want their peace shattered.

I'd agree with other posters unless your neighbours are up and out early and how loud your children are. My neighbours have gone to work by 7am so wouldn't have a problem with DD going out then, she's also very quiet.

Depends on your neighbours - do they have children to get up for school? I would say 9am weekdays 10am weekends

Do people really know the details of when each of their neighbours within hearing distance are up and about?Confused I can only imagine that in a pretty rural setting TBH

Not before 8am during the week and 9am at weekends when people are more likely to be having a lie in.

My neighbour lets her kids out on the dot of 7am and their voices carry far more than she realises (or cares). It causes a real problem to anyone who is trying to still be asleep at that hour (not everyone has to get up early), particularly when it's hot and windows are open.

We live two roads from a primary school so most are up and about but my neighbours one side have grown up teenagers who seem to be up all night and sleep all day - although they do let their dog out at 6am and don't let it back in for a good while if it's not raining and it's a yappy little thing!

You can probably make a bit of an educated guess i suppose. For example my neighbours one side are retired but they have a friend come round every day with his dog at 8:30. I know this because he used to wave at me when I left for work. I'm up early with the baby and I hear them up from about 7.

The other side have 2 secondary aged kids and 2 primary aged. Her husband leaves the house at 6am (again, seen when up with baby) and the others get a lift from their mum at 8:30ish so I assume they are up and about much earlier.

That was way more in-depth than I thought it would be haha. I don't live rural btw!

It's your garden which you pay for and if your child wants to play then let them play.

We live in such a tip toey society. I doubt your child will have a megaphone closeby and will be blaring away into it.

If my neighbours let thier child play at that time I would not be calling the DM.

8am weekdays, 9am weekends.

Our dc are grown up now but we went by this rule when they were small. Our neighbours now let their children (6 and 3) on their trampoline at 7.30 on Sunday mornings. I think that's quite antisocial but they are good neighbours in other ways so I can let it slide.

Mine snuck out at 7am and were given a bollocking (by me i might add). 8.30am on a weekday and 9am on a weekend here as my neighbours are all semi retired.

9am is reasonable, that's when I begin to hear our road getting busier at weekends.

On another note, is a 4.30am wakeup a normal occurrence in your house op?!
