To think the gp was wrong?

My DS has come out with spots which look like chicken pox, he has had a temp & generally feeling unwell.

I took him to the gp who told me it's only an infection & NOT chicken pox. She seemed very confident about it but something tells me she's actually wrong as her words were "the spots aren't in the right place" Confused

I've attached the photo of some of spots on his back. He's 12 months old.

Am I wrong or is the gp maybe wrong??

Im 99% sure thats chicken pox, my son only had it a few weeks ago those spots look very familiar!

Banburyorbust · 18/04/2018 13:48

Hard to tell from the pic but if it’s pox they’ll get worse today and you’ll know.
My youngest often gets a rash after a temp.

Alright1613 · 18/04/2018 13:48

They look pox like to me, are they scabbing over?

Fruitcorner123 · 18/04/2018 13:49

It does look like chicken pox. You dont need to see a GP for chicken pox though so don't worry.

MrsTylerJoseph · 18/04/2018 13:49

Chicken pox spots can be anywhere I thought.

OhWhatAWonderfulDay · 18/04/2018 13:49

Only a few are scanning but more are showing up

Scabbing not scanning!

Certainly looks like cp to me.

Ds2 was Mia-diagnosed with cp at 3 and it turned out that the 5 or so spots were flea bites from MIL's dog. That GP was adamant that it was CP even though I had my doubts...so i wouldn't trust any GP 100% tbph.

That looks like pox to me

SecretIsland · 18/04/2018 13:51

Any in his armpits op?

OhWhatAWonderfulDay · 18/04/2018 13:52

I'm only questioning as he's generally okay now, he's just got spots. I asked if I should keep him off or nursery on Friday and they told me not to as unless he was unwell (he's not anymore), to let him go.

I just know the nursery will turn him away

Sorry! No idea why it posted twice.

He's got on next to his armpit, on his genitalia, bum, face and back

looks like it to me - stick him in a warm bath, within a couple of hours the rest should start appearing. I suggest you stock up on poxclin mousse, antihistamine & paracetamol - don't forget no ibuprofen

SecretIsland · 18/04/2018 13:55

Both of mine that have had it were only unwell in the week leading up to the spots...both were fine when spotty.

And no he definitely shouldn't go to nursery! Not until the very last spot scabs which unfortunately could be many days or a couple of weeks as they'll keep appearing for a few days now.

Funnyface1 · 18/04/2018 13:57

Looks like chicken pox to me too.

Crunchymum · 18/04/2018 13:57

If you suspected chicken pox why did you take him to GP?

Not being facetious, I had it the other way round. I took DC2 to Drs as she had a rash and they told me it was chicken pox (I genuinely don't think it was as she went on to have it mildly a few weeks later and fully a few weeks after that and it was quite obvious what it was).... had I thought the rash was CP I wouldn't have gone Drs. I didn't go the other times when I "knew" what it was.

OhWhatAWonderfulDay · 18/04/2018 14:00

I only took him as he's my first and I wasn't sure as he was struggling to stay awake, admittedly I got scared.

I gave him nurofen yesterday before I knew about the no Ibuprofen Sad

They look exactly like the chickenpox my DD has just had. She got them everywhere, there seemed to be no place they don't go!

OhWhatAWonderfulDay · 18/04/2018 14:13

Some are scabbing over, il keep him off nursery until they've all scabbed & no more appear
