“People get really defensive about London, bit I do t see the appeal of living somewhere where you can’t afford to do any of the many things on offer because you put all your money into ridiculous rental prices. Each to their own I guess”
Perhaps People get irritated, not defensive. Of course Londoners ‘realise’. Of course Londoners are either actually making a choice, or else are trapped or obliged in some way to be here. Some people do jobs because they love them, have a talent and a passion, and can only do that job in London. It isn’t actually all about money. Some people have generations of family living here and have responsibilities. Mostly we get on with it, live in small flats, and roll our eyes when the regional comparisons start, or as normal folk on average wages we get the ‘elitist Londoners ‘ schtick.
YOU don’t see the appeal, fair enough, don’t go for it. It’s great that you enjoy your life. Hopefully you are not one of those posters who gets ‘defensive ‘ when Londoners point out some of the constraints and restrictions of living elsewhere. EVERYWHERE has it’s pros and cons.
