To ask what handcream works!?

My hands are horrendously dry and cracked. The skin feels so tight and it’s split on my knuckle. I’ve tried loads (Aldi, Nivea, Neutrogena, Vaseline) and a more expensive Aveda one which worked brilliantly for a while but the magic didn’t seem to last.

Is there a perfect one out there before my hands turn to dust?

Aveeno or Epaderm

Whatdoiladymcbeth · 14/04/2018 22:30

Hand food, I think, by Soap and Glory.

ToothyMcPuthy · 14/04/2018 22:34

Another vote for hand food by Soap&Glory.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream hand lotion works really fast and is lovely

DraughtyWindow · 15/04/2018 10:03

Rub pure lanolin into the cracks. Heals them in 2 days. Or look up ‘Romney Marsh Wools Lanolin M’

sueelleker · 15/04/2018 16:27

I love Crabtree and Evelyn. Although it's rich, it gets absorbed very quickly. It also comes in a huge range of gorgeous fragrances.

ThaiRedCurry · 15/04/2018 16:31

Not a hand cream but zero base is amazing for dry skin on hands!

Pericombobulations · 15/04/2018 16:33

Aha someone else likes Romney Marsh too! I think its fab, use it every night.

Also like L'Occitane Lavender when I am out and about.

ChelleDawg2020 · 15/04/2018 16:53

Norwegian Formula. I find I need more than "just a dab" as they claim, but it's the only handcream that I've tried that works.

DanceDisaster · 15/04/2018 16:58

Sorry if it’s already been suggested but I’ve found Burt’s Bees really good. I like the smell too.

Treaclepie19 · 15/04/2018 17:09

Aveeno.

Grilledaubergines · 15/04/2018 17:21

Aveda Hand Relief I find very good and you need to use a tiny little blob.

VeganCatLover · 15/04/2018 17:22

Body shop hemp is the only thing that works for me

officerhinrika · 15/04/2018 17:39

You need different products at different times of day. I have a condition which includes something called mechanics hands, cracking, flaking, sore skin etc so have spent a lot of time trying out different creams. My current favourite is This, overnight, Skinny Dip Miracle Balm in a thickish layer over the sore bits, covered with white cotton gloves. This provided the healing part. In the daytime keep your hands hydrated with a good handcream that you like or suits you. I use one of the Skinny Dip handcreams or a L'Occitane one.

The Skinny Dip is simple and good value. This combination has worked well this winter for me.

Sgtmajormummy · 15/04/2018 17:40

As an extreme remedy I put on sudocreme overnight and have a lighter formula zinc oxide cream for daily use, over the counter at the chemist.

L’Occitane handcreams smell lovely (I got their Advent Calendar) but I have to keep applying them or I feel “unprotected” and uncomfortable.

Norwegian formula if you have the time to work it in before the next hand wash comes around.

The Flexitol PP have got me intrigued...

BoobleMcB · 15/04/2018 17:41

Kiehls intensive hand cream. Expensive but so worth It!

toomuchtooold · 15/04/2018 18:12

Eucerin Atopicontrol acute. It's magic on seriously broken out or dry skin.

nevereverhaveieverfeltsolow · 15/04/2018 18:36

Flexitol for hands

Usernametaken123 · 15/04/2018 18:42

A ridiculously expensive french one by PREDIRE coconut and honey hand and nail therapy with moroccan argan oil
Its amazing but costs over £75 !!!
Can sometimes be found on the 'bay cheaply,if you find one its worth splashing out....

juneavrile · 15/04/2018 18:46

Aveeno. Given to me by a dr when my baby was in neonatal unit and you're washing your hands all the time. It really works. £4 in Sainsburys at the mo.

DairyisClosed · 15/04/2018 18:58

The loccitane ones that come in little paint tubes. Amazing.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 15/04/2018 19:12

Another vote for Aveeno.

PrettyWisdomous · 15/04/2018 19:14

I suffer with very dry, cracked hands too. The best cream I've found so far is Aveeno (the one with blue detailing on the packet, not green). Usually around £5 in Boots or a supermarket.

PolkaDotBlues · 15/04/2018 19:15

Coconut oil. I mean pure coconut oil. It's fantastic.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 15/04/2018 19:16

Aveeno. The one with the blue top. Works brilliantly when my eczema flares up on my hands.
