What to put baby in downstairs, during the day

Sorry, not aibu but posting here for traffic

Baby due early sept, most likely to be induced end of Aug.

With my other dc they used a big wicker crib on wheels thing. Family had given it to us to use as they didn't need it at that time.
Its since been returned and they got rid due to lack of space.

I dont want a moses basket as my dc are 10lb+ and want something that will be used for longer but not cost too much (is that too much to ask for lol)

Ive found this online
www.very.co.uk/hauck-baby-centre-travel-cot-giraffe/1600064749.prd

But cant help but feel it looks a bit cheap compared to what the other dc had.

Any ideas?
Thank you

A Baby Box. Basically a cot, but square and in the living room. Very popular here in the Netherlands.

toolonglurking · 11/04/2018 18:35

I'd second a baby box, we got one (free in Scotland) and although I was very sceptical at first, my baby is in it loads!
You can buy the Finnish ones online.

TammySwansonTwo · 11/04/2018 18:35

I used a travel cot for my twins but a much cheaper one than this (bought a Joie one and it is fab). You’ll probably need a travel cot anyway. It has an insert that’s shallower so you don’t have to bend down to the bottom. There’s also separate things you can like a clip on changing mat and various other things. I did buy a proper mattress for it as well.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 11/04/2018 18:35

I used his pram downstairs.

TittyGolightly · 11/04/2018 18:36

Carry cot on the pram base.

HavingaPanda · 11/04/2018 18:38

I have that exact one and love it!

LostMyBaubles · 11/04/2018 18:40

Hubby doesnt like the idea of the baby box due to our other dc (youngest is 3 and doesnt seem like the safest thing around him lol)

Tammy is it like the one in the link??
I do like all the storage options, multi level and changer on top.

I cant have pram over my carpet.
No shoes/ things from outside thats been on the ground allowed on the carpet. carpet too expensive

I used the pram.

I'm a bit jealous of people who live in countries where you get baby boxes! They're a fab idea.

Mileymoocow · 11/04/2018 18:43

Sleepyhead

Isadora2007 · 11/04/2018 18:44

Having had a 10lb 14 baby, I can safely say he was comfy in a Moses basket for really as long as any other baby.

Some designs of basket are really very padded and sturdy. And often able to be picked up second hand and you just buy a new mattress.

SquiggleSqueek · 11/04/2018 18:57

I used a square play pen thingy with a matress... you could change the height if the base so was high up and like a cot when she was newborn... we just lowered the base as she got older and it became the playpen... was a bit less than 100£ but well worth it as it was used for many years

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 11/04/2018 19:02

I used the bassinet from the pram. I just took it off the pram frame.

TammySwansonTwo · 11/04/2018 19:04

It’s like this one, except I bought the travel cot and changing mat only - cost me about £60 for the two I think. This set also comes with a bouncer but honestly I don’t see you need it, I’d rather buy a separate bouncer that’s better!

You can buy various bundles with different accessories

sdaisy26 · 11/04/2018 19:05

We used the carrycot from the pushchair but on a Moses basket stand.

glueandstick · 11/04/2018 19:06

I used a washing basket....

Plasticgold · 11/04/2018 19:06

A friend of mine had big babies and used a Moba moses basket, they're plastic and look great, her babies used them for a longer time than mine used the moses basket for.

Why do you need to post for traffic? Hardly urgent at this point.

I used a sleepyhead and then my pram

kaytee87 · 11/04/2018 19:07

A travel cot

kaytee87 · 11/04/2018 19:08

Or the baby's pram

MrsPear · 11/04/2018 19:08

I used the pram - or bed on wheels as sil’s h called it - and the hv even said it was very safe as it had a ventilated mattress. Btw - I asked as ds2 even sleep in it at night as he refused the crib - brother died of cot death so I worried more than most.

PistFump · 11/04/2018 19:10

We are (just about to start) using the carry cot off the pram on a Moses basket stand also. It's a silver cross pram and came with covers designed specifically for this purpose, it has a little sponge mattress and a hood and looks lovely.

Good point.

happymummy12345 · 11/04/2018 19:48

Do you mean to sleep in during the day? I didn't see the need to have them downstairs, mine only ever slept in the crib in the bedroom with video monitor on and us checking on him regularly,

endofacentury · 11/04/2018 19:50

In the pram or Moses basket
