Old thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3207431-When-a-nation-s-children-marched-and-their-President-ignored-them-Trump-cont

I’m all out of inspiration for the rest of this opening post. Send the St Bernard with the brandy please.

Some news - Dershowitz has been at the White House for part of today as Trump seeks his input, and he’s supposed to have dinner with the president tonight, per WH sources

cozietoesie · 11/04/2018 00:45

I wonder whether 45 will consider hiring Dershowitz? Watch this space, I guess................

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/04/2018 00:51

Thanks for new thread.

I will take refuge, if necessary, inside a large tub of popcorn.

CrustyCob · 11/04/2018 00:53

To follow your post there @lionheart - I just picked this up.

lionheart · 11/04/2018 01:06

His is a voice in the wilderness which obviously means Trump will listen to him.

TheClaws · 11/04/2018 03:17

Awesome Fox graphic. No, the Ark has not yet been raided Grin

Thanks for new thread boatyard good title Grin

And welcome crusty !

Watching some of the Zuckerberg interview with the Senators questioning him and sometimes asking the most ridiculous q's which ended with Z actually trying not to smirk... reminded me of trying to explain what 'email' was to my dear departed parents.

Unlike across I will be pissed emotionally rather than literally as I have been all week if it all kicks off when I’m trying to find inner peace and tranquility and wean myself off Twitter Grin

Although if there is nuclear fallout, the mountains and a beautiful beach wouldn’t be a bad place to gently cook in the radioactive winds so swings and roundabouts I suppose.

lion Adam Schiff and the schifettes have taken note of your betrayal. I have a bit of a soft spot for Eric swalwell

blueskyinmarch · 11/04/2018 07:17

Excellent thread title. I am liking the gin and popcorn fallout shelter. I may bring some chocolate buttons. I always revert to them when I am rocking in a corner and need some comfort.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 11/04/2018 08:02

I wonder who the deep throat is? If mueller and/or Rosenstein are fired will this person continue to leak damaging information? Although if it got to that point and the gop still didn’t react (I see there’s special counsel protection legislation up again today) then id imagine it would be beyond the point of leaked information having any palpable effect. And Dana boente being asked to be interviewed by mueller must be unusual

lettuceWrap · 11/04/2018 08:29

Cadbury’s Chocolate buttons have magical properties IMO.
Tesco is selling the giant bags for £1 ATM, So I definitely think our hypothetical popcorn fallout shelter should have an entire shelf of them.

It feels like things are really teetering on the edge of something. I think I’ll be spending an unreasonable amount of time reading news pages and scrolling through Twitter this week HmmSmile

boatyardblues · 11/04/2018 08:43

I heard a discussion on R4 at the weekend aboit how the wrong kind of intervention in Syria coild tip the region into war. The Syrian-Russian angle was raised, but also Turkey’s twitchiness about the Syrian kurds and Iran’s support for Syria (and recent missile firings), which could prompt Israeli involvement. It’s really not a good time for tone deaf US meddling.

It's not directly Trump related, but he's a Trump late night regular, so here is a Closer Look at Seth Meyers' son's birth story.

Spoiler alert: it was in his apartment block lobby.

ohmymimi · 11/04/2018 09:02

Thanks for the new thread, boat. Please add a plentiful supply of large slabs of Aero to the shelter provisions list.

Mimi, yes, I think there’s room. Mint Areo for preference they are the bigly best...

*apologies for the confectionery related thread derail Smile

boatyard blues: sorry I offended you. The cacophony referred to the Trumpists, not the posters on here. These threads are excellent as an archive and explanation of how a democracy can get itself into trouble when one side abdicates responsibility.

Dersh. is another dangerous voice in T.'s ear. He slipped over edge of reason when he joined cult 45.

Fucker Tucker Carlson, Fox's version of Walter Cronkite, gets all the big scoops.

boatyardblues · 11/04/2018 11:27

Ah, thanks Disgraced - I got completely the wrong end of the stick & thought you were saying we were talking shit. My bad.

@ Roussette
Thank you for the welcome, Smile Zuckerberg tried very hard not to tee hee too much I thought.

Dershowitz is an expert constitutional, not a Middle East expert surely? There over the Stormy weather situation methinks initially but then no doubt wider shenanigans over the White House After Eight Mints.

I picked this up from @lionheart's earlier link.

"National security officials are dropping like flies. The most recent casualty is Tom Bossert, the president’s counterterrorism and homeland security adviser, who was removed Tuesday morning in an apparent power play by incoming national security adviser John Bolton."
Scary stuff, given the situation with Syria.
I'm stockpiling toilet rolls.
