He's not crying, he naps 1-3 and he went to bed later today, 1.45. He hasn't been to sleep yet, he's just whining a bit.

I don't car if IABU really, I need the break!

Isnt it lovely when people tell you to have a rest

barbamama · 11/05/2007 14:30

NABU! if we are at home my ds goes in his cot at 2 ish no matter what. He is starting to need his nap less now (28 months) but still goes up and takes some cars and a couple of books up there - he normally sleeps but sometimes just plays and chills out, he is perfectly happy and I get a break. He shouts when he wants to come back downstairs. I think a little chill out playing quietly and singing etc is almost as good as a nap for them. Put the kettle on I am just about to!

nailpolish · 11/05/2007 14:32

my 2.5yr old dd still naps for 2-3 hrs every afternoon

she even gets up on her own and goes for a wee wee and back to bed if she needs

nailpolish · 11/05/2007 14:33

if my 4.5yr old is tired after a busy morning she falls asleep on the couch for a couple of hours

i make sure its hte same couple fo hours as dd2

hehehehe

glassslipper · 11/05/2007 14:33

at nailpolish. my 3.2 rarely naps now.

although actually she is dozing at the mo as preschool has worn her out

LazyLine · 11/05/2007 14:38

At 21 months, DS still sometimes sleeps for 3 hours at lunchtime. Am hoping against hope that it NEVER stops, even when he is 13!

3xamum · 11/05/2007 14:41

Oh I'm well jealous. My 16month LO only has an hour all day. 2 today but only cos he's a poorly bubba at the mo

MamaG · 11/05/2007 14:42

glass, my DS is 3.2

DD used to sleep for about 2.5 hours untol she was about 3.5; dd2 stopped having naps at 2 - they are all different. I used to leave them in bed/cot even if awake 9 times out of 10 they would fall asleep even if for only half an hour.

agnesnitt · 11/05/2007 15:21

Mine hasn't napped since she turned one. Cowbag!

slight nosy hijack. if your older dc's nap do they sleep ok at night?

JARM · 11/05/2007 15:26

you lot have it made!

DD1 will occasionally sleep on the sofa for 45mins-1hr (2.9yrs)

DD2 will go up every day for a sleep varying between 1 hour and 3 hours! (1.7yrs)

nailpolish · 11/05/2007 15:31

2shoes

my dds go to bed at 8pm no bother but they sometimes wake v early - actually they are usually up by 620am or so every morning
but theyve hence had 10hrs kip so cant complain!

2shoeswhoismshadowsnumber1fan · 11/05/2007 15:37

i just remeber when ds hit abou 2 had to stop naps or severly limit them as if i didn't he wouldn't sleep at night

glassslipper · 11/05/2007 18:19

if my dd1 sleeps at night she is a pita at bed time and wakes at 6 the next day. she spent the last 3 months trying to drop her daytime nap. she now has about 2 a fortnight.

Upsidedowncake · 26/10/2007 14:53

Agnes, and others, how do you cope with no nap time?

becklespookle · 26/10/2007 14:57

MamaG - leave him up there for a bit, if he went up later than usual he could be a bit overtired (hence the little bit of whining). I agree with the others, a bit of quiet time does them (and you) as much good as if they sleep!

Both my DSs had 1-2 hours nap every afternoon until they were well over 4 - only stopped when they were due to start afternoon nursery (the term before full-time school starts)!

Lorayn · 26/10/2007 15:01

My ds hasnt had naptime since he was just turned 2, if he did oh my goodness bedtime would be a nightmare!
But I dont think YABU, if thats what hes used to keep him up there.

anightmareonMegletstreet · 26/10/2007 15:02

As long as he's not having a silly turn i'd leave him for a bit.

lomondgore · 26/10/2007 15:02

Sounds like he needs his rest, my dd2 (4 months) starts to whine when she needs a nap. I hardly ever put her down already asleep, just watch for the signs of tiredness and put her down still awake. She makes a wee bit of noise but I only go back in if she cries.

DD1 used to hum herself to sleep, it was quite funny!

Enjoy your peace and quiet
