To ask how often, if ever, you get parking tickets?

We had a lot going on today and I forgot to top up the parking on the pay-by-phone thingy. So we have a £25 fine. DH acting like I shut his balls in the door on purpose and is sulking like an absolute pro.

Obviously I was annoyed to receive it, but it's too late to do anything about it now, so I'll just pay it and get on with life.

I have never EVER received a parking ticket before in the years I've been driving. DH now acting like I'm a financial liability 'Well, you're going to have to set reminders on your phone now to tell you when your time's up...'

AIBU to actually slam his balls in a door and tell him to leave me alone?!

I’ve had three in the past two months. My husband had a stroke 4 years ago, his disabilities meant I needed to apply for a disabled parking bay outside our house. Finally got the bay after 18 months. I’ve had three attempted break-ins on my car where the blue badge has been on display, with an actual successful theft just last week where I forgot to put it away as DH was being particularly bolshie that day, so I stopped displaying it. I’ve appealed each ticket successfully and will continue to do so, especially now it’s actually been stolen.

I don’t think I’ve had one for a coupled years, I’ve probsy had half a dozen over the last 25 years. DH usually just laughs at me while I swear at it. We’ve had the car towed a couple of times though and that’s far more annoying and expensive

35 years of driving, no parking tickets, no fines or points either.

I once got one for not displaying a ticket, but I'd paid for parking using my phone. I appealed and they said that I hadn't displayed a ticket so the fine was correctly issued.

I’ve had 2

1 for not parking in the lines properly. But the spaces had been marked out several times and the old lines were still there so it wasn’t clear which the current lines were (plus, several cars had parked there before me so I parked within the lines that were left if you see what I mean). It was overturned.

And another occasion when we lived in a street with resident permit parking. It had snowed and covered the windscreen, a traffic warden came through at the crack of dawn and ticketed the whole street. We all had them overturned

DH has had several for forgetting when the ticket run out.

It’s one of those things, he shouldn’t be sulking about it

Never had a fine in our lives until last year. Then we had four through within a month. Two were dh, parking for 2 minutes and not paying, one was me going over my 2 hours parking and the other was a speeding fine for me Blush

Anyway £150 later and we learnt our lesson, I don't intend on ever having another.

I live in Melbourne now - this city loves parking tickets!!! Think I'd had four in my first six months. All about a hundred bucks, too.
