To think DBrother is unreasonable to stop anyone else coming in?

We've planned a family evening out. We all live miles apart now so it's rare we're all together.

There's a film I want to see soon and he's adamant he doesn't want anyone else in there whilst we (a family of 5ish), watch it.

So he's said he will be buying out all the seats so only we can see it Shock I know him well and I know he isn't having us on.

Isn't this unreasonable? It's a new film so there will be quite a few people wanting to see it.

I would love it if someone hired a who cinema for me. You should be more grateful I think

DewDropsonKittens · 06/04/2018 13:34

Whole*

elfycat · 06/04/2018 13:35

p.s. Can I get adopted for the day? I promise to stare at the screen quietly and intently and not be any trouble.

glitterbiscuits · 06/04/2018 13:36

I would actually love to do this.

I’m going to put it on my bucket list!

Bluetoo1 · 06/04/2018 13:37

I think it's a nice idea. There is always a chance of some noisy popcorn munching, constantly chatting idiot will sit behind you otherwise.

Gibralter · 06/04/2018 13:38

He's usually carrying out something outlandish such as this. Every he does must be bigger, better, than people who aren't family or close friends

It is Infinity War Wink

I said family of 5ish because my parents may or may not come along. They're fed up of him, as of late. But no one really knows why

elfy Come along! Grin

Snowysky20009 · 06/04/2018 13:43

Why? Just why?.............

GabsAlot · 06/04/2018 13:44

if its only a smal place of twenty ish seats then no problem

but he does sound a bit arrogant-whose he trying to impress

Tessliketrees · 06/04/2018 13:45

I think it's fab, I would love it.

Juells · 06/04/2018 13:46

Probably himself Grin

RandomDreams · 06/04/2018 13:48

If he can afford it why not?

frasier · 06/04/2018 13:49

Just book a private viewing like a normal person.

As for him thinking "aha, I've got something you can't have and I've done it because I can and want to" , loads of people can afford to do this, but they don't want to because it makes them look like a twat.

amusedbush · 06/04/2018 13:51

They're fed up of him, as of late. But no one really knows why

I could probably hazard a guess.

Gibralter · 06/04/2018 13:52

Sorry, should've mentioned in my OP that our local cinema doesn't offer private viewings that you can pre book

OP posts:
Zaphodsotherhead · 06/04/2018 13:53

Is it anything to do with him being a controlling twunk who tries to tell people what to do, when to do it and exactly how to carry it out?

Most of these 'can't do enough for family as long as it reflects well on them and they get to tell everyone what to do' types are like this.

Knittedfairies · 06/04/2018 13:55

Is he paying, or will your ticket be 6x the normal price?

MsHomeSlice · 06/04/2018 13:55

He sounds like a complete wanker really, I'd be keeping contact with a person like that right down to a minimum tbh. Seems like your parents feel the same.

Thistlebelle · 06/04/2018 13:59

So it’s basically a case of “my wallet is bigger than yours”?

I’d say nothing about it, he’s just looking for attention.

What happens if someone else manager to book a couple of seats? The five of you and a couple of snogging teenagers? Grin

Such a waste of money.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 06/04/2018 14:00

Can I come too? I promise to behave, I'll even sit right at the back if you like so I don't disturb you Wink

Having said that, one of the best cinema experiences I had was watching Avengers Assemble at 9am on the day it came out. Cinema full of fans who were all very hyped (myself included), lots of cheering, laughing, even clapping! Normally I hate this sort of thing but the atmosphere was great and I had such a fun time watching the film with lots of other very excited people Grin

backinthatdress · 06/04/2018 14:05

i dont think hes being unreasonable, hes paying so its up to him.

i do think its a waste of money tho, but its his money to waste as he wishes

MissBartlettsconscience · 06/04/2018 14:07

I think he's a bit dim if he's expecting everyone who isn't in your family to be really jealous that he's booked out the whole cinema for 5 people.

No-one is actually going to know unless he tells them - the cinema will just show as being booked out so people will go another time or to a different place, and if he does tell them, he'll look a bit of a prick.

Applejack70455 · 06/04/2018 14:11

But how is he going to make sure he's first online to book all the seats? Presumably other people will want to see it too...

elfycat · 06/04/2018 14:14

I've just had a look at a new, plushy cinema in our area. They have 14 seater cinemas.

Can't help thinking 2 adult and 12 kid tickets, followed by McDs is as cheap as soft-play-hell party, only without the soft-play-hell.

Hmmmm....

Pastaagain78 · 06/04/2018 14:19

Tell us more of his antics....

MissBartlettsconscience · 06/04/2018 14:20

Elfycat - private cinema hire can work well as a party but for younger children you can end up with 12 hyped up sugar beasts roaming wild through the film. Even if a couple refuse to sit still, it can be quite hard work. At least with a soft play they're tired and hungry before you want them to eat something!
