Or is this okay for a typical days food?

Breakfast: 2 slices of Seeded toast with sunflower spread and a tiny bit of marmite. A glass of fresh orange juice (fresh).

Or

Wheatabix (2) with a little skimmed milk and low calorie sweetener sprinkled

Lunch: Usually don't eat it, but if I do, two scrambled eggs or 1 avocado, sometimes on a Davina McCall cracker

Dinner: Vegetable rice with Linda McCartney pulled chicken (not real chicken), or pasta with Quorn mince and a light sauce

Snacks options: Banana, handful of fresh berries, a passion fruit

Does this sound okay? Anything I need to add/cut back on?

If eating out, I will usually order a kid's meal chicken nuggets with chips and a blue WKD or lemonade. Maybe a chocolate brownie and ice cream for desert, or sorbet. But I don't eat out very often at all.

I'm a very fussy eater and struggle to add more variety to what I eat

You've posted this for attention clearly. It's ridiculous and you know it! Kids portions? Get a grip

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 06/04/2018 09:49

She’s only been doing it a few weeks. Of course she knows it’s ridiculous and is posting for attention.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 06/04/2018 09:51

The one thing I'd say OP, if you are telling the truth is consider this...

You will have plenty of opportunity to lose weight in the future, but you will only have one chance to give your child a decent start.

I'm out.

Therealjudgejudy · 06/04/2018 10:04

'Naughty foods' 'cheeky meal'. You sound totally immature tbh. And you also know that you are not eating enough healthy proper foods.

Research a healthy diet for breast feeding online instead of being preoccupied with your weight and bmi . Simple.

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 06/04/2018 10:18

You know this isn't okay for a days food, especially not for a breastfeeding woman. I don't think you have an eating disorder yet but I think you want us to say you have one.

Its really not okay to skip lunch if you are breastfeeding, you can eat a normal 1800 kcal a day diet when breastfeeding plus loose weight at a healthy rate, I wouldn't actively try to lose weight while breastfeeding, you've got to make sure your baby gets the correct nutrients. Plus you say your ds has CMPI and you are still eating milk?

I would eat:
Porridge made with alpro almond and coconut milk (this makes it really creamy and tasty) with some fruit of choice and I like a bit of cocoa powder.
2 scrambled eggs with 1/2 avocado + toast/bagel/muffin, I like Lidl rye bread. Plus some salad on the side or some tomatos. If you don't like ant salad veg, some berries like strawberries, which are fairly low in sugar.
What is a light sauce for dinner, do you mean like a jar but light version? Why not just a tin of tomatos + veg? I would avoid anything labelled light or low fat. Your dinners sound alright but quite highly processed. Are you vegetarian?

You need more veg overall, you are an adult and there must be some veg you like enough to put it in a tomato sauce, what about bleeding it in? You can make a big batch of tomato sauce with a tin of toms and carrot, onion, garlic, celery all blended in and portion it up and freeze so it essentially like a jar but so much healthier for you.

TizzleBizzle · 06/04/2018 10:29

You have probably confused your metabolism by stopping eating properly cold turkey. Not sure why you think the amount you are eating is 1700 calories as it really isn't but MyFitnessPal will help you understand calorie counting better.
Also I'm doing slimming world and can have 4 Ryvita for lunch as healthy extra B so 1 cracker is not going to be enough at lunch.

It's much healthier to aim for 1-2 pounds weight loss per week by eating healthily than a crash diet which is unsustainable and in the case of a breastfeeding mother downright dangerous.

thecatsthecats · 06/04/2018 10:40

I'm down to eat 1850 a day to lose a lb a week and usually have:

Breakfast: Porridge - 220cal
Lunch: WW ready meal - 450cal
Snacks (mid morning/mid afternoon) - Apples, carrot sticks, boiled eggs, spinach - 300cal
Dinner: Veg, chicken or fish, wholewheat pasta or rice, some butter/cheese - 650cal
Pudding: Grapes or WW pudding - 200cal
Drinks: Tea/squash - the rest

It varies a lot, to be honest, and I'm working on making a better arrangement (I find it easier to fall back on simple ready food than cook all the time, since I'm fitting in hobbies, gym etc in too), but it's far more food than you're having.

thecatsthecats · 06/04/2018 10:42

Oh, and at the moment, I am perpetually slightly hungry. I eat more to account for my workouts, and am working on more filling food, but that much has been enough to help me resist the mountains of chocolate piled everywhere in the office without too much discomfort.

Having to save for MILs cooking tonight, so feeling the hanger.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 06/04/2018 10:44

It's a perfectly fine amount to eat, most people eat far too much. But cut back on the processed food and stop being fussy

Whatshallidonowpeople · 06/04/2018 10:45

You won't lose a lb a week on 1850 cals a day. A lb a month mqybe

Dobbythesockelf · 06/04/2018 10:50

You won't loose a lb a week surely that depends on her exercise levels and lifestyle?
You honestly think that around 1000-1200 calories a day while feeding another human us sustainable and healthy?

rickandmorts · 06/04/2018 10:54

I feel greedy reading this thread!! On a normal day I'll have:

-2 boiled eggs/ omelette/ porridge
-an apple
-baked potato with butter and 2 toppings (either full can of tuna and sweetcorn with mayo/ cheese/ whole tin of beans/ coleslaw)
-banana in the afternoon or a fruit and veg smoothie
-home cooked meal in the evening, either pasta bake/ meat and veg/ mezze (so loads of bits)/ Thai curry etc

  • cup of tea and biscuits/ chocolate bar later on

But my meal portions are MASSIVE I always have a big plate at night and usually go back for seconds.

Blush
rickandmorts · 06/04/2018 10:55

And I'm not breastfeeding!! I'd probably have to double that amount if I was because I'm permanently starving as it is.

ShapelyBingoWing · 06/04/2018 10:59

You won't lose a lb a week on 1850 cals a day. A lb a month mqybe

You might not but that doesn't mean that nobody will. 1850 works out only slightly over my BMR so any activity at all I did on top of this calorie intake would create a deficit. A 500 calorie defecit each day is all that would be needed for a 1lb loss a week.

thecatsthecats · 06/04/2018 11:03

@Whatshallidonowpeople - please inform my doctor and my personal trainer then. And the scales, whilst you're at it.

When you have more to lose, (and I'm tall, broad-framed and 'built' under the fat, and active), you need a lot more. 2000 for a woman and 2500 for a man is based upon averages - I'm above average.

If I go by the averages, and aim for say, 1500, I would be utterly starving, instead of, as I say, a bit hungry all the time.

frogsoup · 06/04/2018 11:06

1000 calories a day is prison camp starvation levels. My only consolation on this kind of threads is that anyone who genuinely thinks they eat that little is in fact deluded about what they eat (as countless studies have demonstrated). The moredepressing thing is more that people with an eating disorders will gain validation that eating an impossibly tiny amount of food is ok. It really, really isn't. I weigh the same as you Op only I'm 4 inches taller, and eat double or triple that amount of food in a day

Rikalaily · 06/04/2018 11:08

OP, you need a calcium supplement along with the Vit D if you don't eat much dairy, especially when breastfeeding. You will end up deficient and you really don't want that. It took me 3 years to get my Vit D back to within normal levels after I became defincient.

You can use other milks like rice, oat, soya or almond milk which have added calcium. Apparently chocolate flavoured almond milk is pretty nice as a drink if you don't usually like milk alternatives.

You definately need to be eating alot more, breastfeeding uses around 500cals a day, I found I burned ALOT more than that while BFing though. You should add more fruit and veg snacks, and maybe a supper.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 06/04/2018 11:13

If you’re not hungry and not miserable then go with it.
Definitely have lunch though.

Your day is not too dissimilar to mine but then I’m much smaller.

Me and DH have a big blowout day once a week though!

YourWanMajella · 06/04/2018 11:15

OP has a serious eating disorder and has posted multiple times before. I wouldn't bother.

thecatsthecats · 06/04/2018 11:18

@frogsoup - that's what makes me upset and angry about these things.

My mum has a severe eating disorder. Won't eat in front of anyone. Subsists off boiled sweets, virgin bloody marys, peanuts and rice cakes. Highly active and very skinny but muscled (looks very ageing now she is getting on - my fiance's gran is only a few years older but looks much fresher at a healthier weight).

She'd snatch away serving dishes at the earliest opportunities for family meals, say that women only needed 1000 cal a day, fret over having chocolate coins at Christmas. I brought home chocolate oranges for Christmas once, and she put one each in everyone's stocking but hid mine, even though I bought it. She has no idea that the issues she has with food cause the disordered eating that is a part of MY weight problem (and my sister's - who crashed in weight for a while due to low self esteem).

goingonabearhunt1 · 06/04/2018 11:44

As pp have said, I think you need more vegetables and healthy fats. You don't need dairy if it doesn't agree with you, just make sure you get enough calcium from other sources, this page from the NHS lists non dairy sources of calcium etc.

www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Vegetarianhealth/Pages/Pregnancyandchildren.aspx

Don't skip lunch!

Try different types of veg and cooking them in different way (roasting, stir frying etc.) and you will almost certainly find something you like.

FairiesVsPixies · 06/04/2018 11:59

The TDER app says I should be eating around 1,696 calories a day, similar to what I'm eating now!

As numerous pp have said YOU'RE NOT. You are eating 1000 whilst breastfeeding, that's 500 for bf so leaving you 500 left for you. But you know this, and are not listening to anyone so what's the point?

mamahanji · 06/04/2018 12:15

Breastfeeding made me ravenous. I used to eat at every feed in the night! So at least 4-5 times. I lost a stone too as I was eating decent stuff.

You may be eating an okish amount of calories, but your food is really lacking

Carrots, peppers, cucumber, whole meal pitta and hummus/smoked mackerel pate

Porridge is always a winner and oats are brilliant for supply. Made with almond milk and about 1tsp of pure maple syrup is amazing.

Soups are always good. And are a flavoursome way to eat vegetables when you aren't keen. Roast some butternut, red onions, sweet potatoes, peppers, parsnips, carrots in olive oil and some harissa paste. And then blend with some stock.

Smoothies! You can make a smoothie easily 400-500 calories, full of fruit, vegetables and loads of leafy greens, add ground flax seed and oats and you have a really nutritious 'meal'.

It does sound like your view of food is bordering on unhealthy. You seem concerned with low calories, but not with nutrition. Calories aren't the devil. Processed food and artificial sweeteners are a lot worse than a bacon butty.

LemonysSnicket · 06/04/2018 18:11

Eat lunch and it’s fine.
Soup, pasta, salad.

Iamclearlyamug · 06/04/2018 18:32

well I am for 1300 calories a day and for that I can eat:

breakfast - 2 x slices of weight watchers bread, with a small spread of reduced sugar raspberry jam. low fat strawberry yogurt (200 cals)

lunch - 2 x apples, 2 x oranges, 2 x kiwis and 30g reduced fat mature cheddar (400 cals)

dinner - homemade paella with chicken, rice, peppers, mushrooms, onion and courgette (500 cals)

dessert/snack - 2 digestive biscuits or a snack size chocolate bar (100 cals)

I'd be beside myself only eating your menu in a day!
