To think it's not moral to knowingly sell products to people

OutofSyncGirl · 05/04/2018 21:53

That you know they won't need or are bad value for money? I know it's necessary part of many jobs to sell things but when does it become wrong?

I know people can say know but some are vulnerable eg. Old people.

I think you’ll find both brands have huge marketing depts and efficacy claims
You simply seem to be preoccupied by promoting your preferred brand

OutofSyncGirl · 06/04/2018 00:07

Only because I've used all of them at some time or another.

OP posts:
TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 06/04/2018 00:07

Howling @ your shite attempt at marketing. Covert much?

I don't go for a facial because I think it will work a miracle. I go because I like the feeling of somebody assembling cake mixture on my face.

OutofSyncGirl · 06/04/2018 00:09

Well that's up to you. If you had Caci you probably would see a difference if you had courses of treatments.

*OutofSyncGirl

'That's the whole point of Capitalism though. To blur the bounds between want and need is it's driving force.'

Yes. I think what I mean is that I couldn't do it myself. I think you've got to be a bit unscrupulous.*

It takes all sorts for the world to go round though doesn't it.

Woodfordhound · 06/04/2018 00:11

I’ve reported this for blatant, albeit bizarre and convoluted advertising.

OutofSyncGirl · 06/04/2018 00:11

I'm not an Elemis rep. But you won't find many people who don't love their marine cream. I've seen it talked about here loads. Before Elemis I used MD Formulations but they stopped trading to the UK.

OP posts:
LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/04/2018 00:12

Thing is,you could have potentially just written a I love brand x review and you’d not get busted
But you’ve written a convoluted post about your preferred brand,it’s v contrived

OutofSyncGirl · 06/04/2018 00:12

Oh for gods sake I was using it as an example. I'm a spa therapist. Ffs mumsnet is pathetic these days. Full of people just waiting to jump down the throats of others.

OP posts:
TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 06/04/2018 00:12

But i'm not going to go for a course of treatments.

I'm going to live my life like a normal person without worrying about 'premature ageing'. Utter nonsense. We all get older- deal with it.

Also 'You probably would see a difference'. Interesting claim when you know nothing of my age or skin type.

HOOEY.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/04/2018 00:14

You’re in a huff now because no one praised your convoluted posts

CocoPuffsInGodMode · 06/04/2018 00:15

Seriously, what is your thread intended to be about? Confused You started off with some vague, slightly handwringing worthiness about, erm... well I don't really know tbh and now you're going on about the merits of the amazing product you just happen to make your living selling Hmm.

Still, maybe we'll all give it a go. It's bound to be worth it, after all you use it and you'd never, ever sell us something we don't need cos that'd be immoral. Yep.

OutofSyncGirl · 06/04/2018 00:16

Ok. I think you'll find Caci isn't controversial treatment. Face lifts are much less common these days.

And if you've never had one you can't know it doesn't work.

This wasn't meant to turn into a style and beauty debate. I was merely saying that I can sell something if I like the product myself and belief it works but I couldn't sell something useless and them be laughing behind someone's back & saying sucker.

OP posts:
Graphista · 06/04/2018 00:17

And libellous claims

Biscuit
OutofSyncGirl · 06/04/2018 00:17

No I'm not in a huff. But if I've said anything wrong I'm sure MNHQ will delete it.

OP posts:
Weezol · 06/04/2018 00:18

Well, erm good for you.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/04/2018 00:20

I’ve sold products I didn’t like or use or relate to.
as a student I had retail, job in store whose products I didn’t use or like
Still worked there, sold the stuff.no moral quandary about it either
It’s a well known brand with loyal customer base.no one was coerced

CocoPuffsInGodMode · 06/04/2018 00:25

But who is doing that? You said you think you mean cold callers and then you think you mean people who gloat about selling guarantees Confused but you've not given any details about who does this, what products or services you're talking about. It's all just so vague! I mean if you want a discussion about consumers rights, mis-selling, legislation, regulatory bodies then go for it but you're not giving the impression that you have much insight into any actual issues and to be fair probably half of your posts were about your preferred skincare brand which you also happen to sell.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 06/04/2018 00:54

I thought that this was going to be MLM or one of those schemes where you buy over priced tea towels from an ex-prisoner.

I find it highly ironic that you work in the beauty industry but can say that high end cosmetics aren't a con. I remember an episode of the Apprentice where Lord Sugar admitted that he would have considered the beauty industry over the electronics industry if he was starting today as the margins were massive.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 06/04/2018 00:57

OP - as a professional wouldn't you agree that a product that works for one person may not necessarily work for another? What happens if a customer has a breakout or experiences no benefit from a product? I bet that it's the customer who ends up "wasting"money

TheMaddHugger · 06/04/2018 06:13

Good One OP. I enjoyed this

To think it's not moral to knowingly sell products to people
SparkleBuns · 06/04/2018 06:22

This thread is hilarious.

"it's not moral to knowingly sell products to people, but my God you should buy elemis marine cream"

speakout · 06/04/2018 06:29

What a funny thread OP.

Selling posh face cream that no one actually needs- and you think that gives you a moral high ground?

londonrach · 06/04/2018 06:30

Never heard of either are they food, make up, range of clothes, perfume. Terrible marketing op, have reported your attempt to mnhq. What ever they are id never buy off one person...that what shops are for

londonrach · 06/04/2018 06:32

Speakout...face cream then.... i love my ldll one £1.95 per pot, feels great on and does the job at keeping my face moistured.
