Is it ok to put dog’s used poo bag into a neighbor’s trash bin?

Just wondering... Drove by a neighbor walking his dog, putting used dog poo bag into another neighbor’s trash bin (we live in US in a neighborhood where we put our bins down at the curb each week for collection).
We don’t have a dog now, lost our dear dog a few years back and haven’t been ready to start again, but I could probably see myself doing that, but I could see the neighbor owning the bin getting steamed... not sure if there is an etiquette or rule on this!

No, it's not OK!

Gide · 02/04/2018 17:46

I definitely wouldn’t. I just hang onto it til I can put it in my own bin. Our collections are once a week so I don’t want it festering in someone else’s nib. I want to have my own bin free for me to use, too.

SluttyButty · 02/04/2018 17:46

No it's not ok. It's a real pet hate of mine, putting your rubbish or dog crap in someone else's bin. Take it home and put it in your own. But I am the kind that gets her bin jet washed once a year.

Daffodillia · 02/04/2018 17:46

I don’t see the issue, but I don’t do it as I know most don’t like it.
I’d rather people used my bin than leave the poo, or worse still along the bag in to a tree!

Namesarehard · 02/04/2018 17:47

A bin is a bin. Don't know why people get so worked up. It's better than the floor.

Daffodillia · 02/04/2018 17:47

*sling

Sarsparella · 02/04/2018 17:47

I don’t see what the issue is, it’s rubbish & if your bin is still out on the street it’s not a big deal imo

ilovesooty · 02/04/2018 17:47

Of course it isn't.

confusedandemployed · 02/04/2018 17:48

Absolutely not ok. We live at the end of a footpath and have 2 dogs ourselves. We put our dog bags double bagged in with the normal rubbish. So many people put their dogs' shit in our wheelie bin it ended up stinking to high heaven. We actually had to put a padlock on our wheelie bin.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 02/04/2018 17:49

Obviously it's not.

You try having a bin over-full of someone else's waste and realising you've no option but to take it to the tip yourself because the binmen won't collect an overfull bin. Then see how you feel about other people's dog poo bags being in there.

MiddleClassProblem · 02/04/2018 17:49

It’s not good etiquette but I’d rather someone did that than left dog poo on the dropped kerb of our drive.

We have a dog. I do dog poo bins or just carry it home.

FaFoutis · 02/04/2018 17:49

no

TheDogHasEatenIt · 02/04/2018 17:49

Another one saying no. I have a dog myself, and use a separate bin for my dog's bagged poo, then just before collection day i'll add the whole lot to my wheely bin. I like to keep my wheely bin clean, (i wash it out after each collection and keep some disinfectant in the bottom of it. Can't bear to open the lid and get a waft of stinking rubbish or poo. I would be pretty annoyed to find someone else dog poo festering in my bin!

Dani240 · 02/04/2018 17:51

It's a bit grim. The smell of dog poo is just awful and it lingers long after the bin has been collected. Put it in your own bin.

Highlights12 · 02/04/2018 17:54

No. Someone put some in our bin and the smell was awfull. We don't have a dog so shouldn't have to deal with poo smells.

MikeWyzowski · 02/04/2018 17:57

I live along a country walk and if I meet someone I know carrying a poo bag at the beginning of their walk I tell them to throw them into our bin. And as for double bagging? How will they ever biodegrade wrapped in two layers of plastic. Way to preserve your dogs poo forever and ever (or 500 years)!

UrsulaPandress · 02/04/2018 17:59

If the bin hasn't been emptied I wouldn't mind. But if it had been then the bag would be festering for three weeks so no thanks.

Womblewobble · 02/04/2018 17:59

I don’t own a dog so I’m comparing it to a pooey nappy. They stink even when properly bagged up. They stink my bin out. Would I stink my neighbours bin out? No.

concretesieve · 02/04/2018 18:01

You can't put your muck in our dustbin, our dustbin, our dustbin ...' Grin

Seriously though, I'd be peeved about it.

chantico · 02/04/2018 18:02

No, of course you don't do this. If you're near enough to your neighbour's house to use their bin, then you're also near enough your house to use your own.

You don't leave faeces on or in someone else's property without their consent. Even though you expect the container to be emptied shorty.

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 02/04/2018 18:02

No.

orangesmartieseggs · 02/04/2018 18:03

Personally I don't see the issue if it's out and ready for collection - a bin is a bin at the end of the day. I don't see it as any worse than rotting food being in there.

BUT I wouldn't do it because I know a lot of people take massive offence to it.

MoodyTwo · 02/04/2018 18:05

To be honest I wouldn't mind it!
It depends if it's his neighbor and he just doesn't want it in his bin or if he's just walking past and puts it in as there isn't another one...
To be honest the amount of poo I run over with my pram I don't care so long as it's not on the pavement

RebeccaBunchLawyer · 03/04/2018 17:58

Dog owner here. I would put a poo bag in the nearest bin, wouldn’t care if someone did the same to my bin. But I would be absolutely grossed out if a nappy was put into my bin so maybe I should stop!

Bixx · 03/04/2018 17:59

No!
