To ask how much sleep you get?

On average how much sleep do you get every night? And how much sleep do you actually need to feel refreshed?
I probably get about 6 hours per night, but ideally need about 8 hours to feel bright eyed (never get that much though).

I am for 8 hours and usually only fall a little short on average. My fitbit tells me how I am getting on

Pengggwn · 02/04/2018 07:13

Theoretically, 8/9 hours (I tend to go to sleep at 9 and wake at 6) but it depends whether my little girl sleeps through. My more natural sleeping pattern is 10-6.30ish.

AhoyDelBoy · 02/04/2018 07:15

Around 6 hours broken sleep with my 6 month old DD. Need around 10 hours to feel refreshed, always have. I'm a tired zombie at the moment, better get used to it I guess! Easter Smile

MarthasGinYard · 02/04/2018 07:19

I get about 7 ish hours but wake in between

Never feel refreshed

I feel the quality of my sleep is rubbish. Does anyone know it those Fitbit type things tell you the quality of your sleep or just the amount?

Sorry to but In OpGrin

Normally, about 6 hours. I’ve never been a good sleeper and wake up a bit and struggle to fall asleep. Youngest is 6 weeks now and shockingly I get probably as much sleep or more than normal, 6-8 broken hours each night between 9pm and 7am with 2-3 bfs a night. I sleep so badly anyway that that’s pretty adequate for me.

Wellthisunexpected · 02/04/2018 07:21

I need 8 hours at least but DS ensures I rarely get more than 6 and sometimes as little as 4!

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 02/04/2018 07:21

Typically in bed by 9 most nights but how much sleep I get depends what shifts I’m working. At least 8 (not counting the 3/4 wees I have to get up for!) but often more like 9-9.5.

Making the most of it before baby comes!

Bbbbbbbb2017 · 02/04/2018 07:28

Nowhere near enough. Lone parent to a 3 yr old and 1.5 year old neither sleep

OccasionalNachos · 02/04/2018 07:32

About 6 hours, I don’t go to bed early enough but am an early riser. 7-& hours is better for me but in all honesty I’d rather be awake!

JaceLancs · 02/04/2018 07:34

Not enough!
I probably get 5-6 hours of broken sleep
Would love 7-8 hours straight through - on the rare occasion that I do maybe once every 1-2 months I feel so much better for it

speakout · 02/04/2018 07:37

Eight hours.

I have never been sleep deprived.

Total high priority.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/04/2018 07:40

I get around 7 hours but it usually involves broken or disturbed sleep. I have a Fitbit which I got purely for the sleep tracking facility. Some nights I’ll get very little deep sleep (eg. 4 minutes, 6 minutes) and I do tend to sleep lightly.

Ds is 2.5y and it’s only in the last few weeks where he’s reliably slept through the night so Dh and I have both struggled with being woken every night. I really struggle to lie in so once i’m up I can’t get back to sleep.

Ansumpasty · 02/04/2018 07:41

About 7 hours but wake a couple of times.

PussCatTheGoldfish · 02/04/2018 07:42

Martha yes the Fitbit I have does. It's ok for accuracy, but sometimes assumes I've had a nap on the sofa when really I've been watching TV.

I average between 6-7 hours. Often I will wake at 3 or 4am and that's it for the day. Drives me nuts!

TaytoAllDay · 02/04/2018 07:42

I definitely need 9-10 hours

MarthasGinYard · 02/04/2018 07:43

Thanks puss

So it lets you know how deep the sleep is etc?

ferrier · 02/04/2018 07:46

About 5-6 hours a night. A bit more in school holidays. Wake up about 6.45 and in bed about 1 or 2am. Absolutely no way I could go to bed at 9pm - Would never get any free time to myself if I did that. The good thing is I sleep like a log - can't remember the last time I woke up in the middle of the night.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/04/2018 07:46

Marthasginyard I have a Fitbit Alta HR and it will give me a little graphic in the morning which shows deep/light/R.E.M. or awake. I’ve heard people slate them a bit but I find mine to be very accurate (as far as I can tell). I usually assess myself how well I’ve slept before checking it, and usually I’ll be right, as in: I feel like I slept really restlessly, had lots of dreams, woke at X time etc, and it will usually be pretty spot on. It gives you an overview of your last 30 days too. I’m not sure how it can improve your sleep particularly though, except by making me realise that I can only get more hours in if I go to bed earlier.

Skippetydoodah · 02/04/2018 07:47

Ususlly about 7 hrs (11-6) but like others I usually wake once or twice. I don't think I've woken up feeling refreshed since I was about 20, I'm always groggy in the morning even if I've gone to bed early and had a good sleep. No DCs to blame either!

cornishmumtobe · 02/04/2018 07:49

Between 4 and 7 broken hours which I get over a 12 hour window by going to bed ridiculously early. Why won't my baby sleep Sad my ideal is 9 hours. In a row.

Purplerain101 · 02/04/2018 07:50

I think my hormones play a part in my sleep quality too. A few days before my period I sleep really badly and I often wake up far too early. During my period I sleep like a log. And a few days after ovulation I sleep much better too.

Thenew
Thanks
Think I'll invest

Purplerain101 · 02/04/2018 07:51

When I was about 16 I could sleep for 13 hours a night and not wake up once. If I get even half that now then it’s a good night for me now. The slightest noise wakes me up and I need pitch black to be able to sleep deeply

Chrisinthemorning · 02/04/2018 07:52

8 hours- 10 until 6. Would like more though Grin

ElChan03 · 02/04/2018 07:52

About 4 on average but 8 is the dream.
