I don't want to worry your fluffy little heads:

To let you know what the lib dems think of you?
OP posts:
givemesteel · 01/04/2018 21:09

Interesting how many people start with 'No disrespect to...' then say something disrespectful.

Without seeing what the full thread was concerning it is difficult to judge impartially, but it does sound like a gross disregard for a large proportion of the electorate.

But if you take their stance in Brexit as an example, they don't seem to be awfully bothered about what the majority of the electorate think.

They just seem to be becoming a marginalised protest party like ukip from what I can see.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/04/2018 21:12

'I'm a politician. This is my job.' So that makes mr/mrs/ms anonymous the authority of everything then?

How nice for them. We shall all just shut up and bow before their magnificence like good girls.

Goldenhedgehogs · 01/04/2018 21:21

The way Lib Dems treated the Lord Rennard scandal told me everything I needed to know about their parties attitude to women

DairyisClosed · 01/04/2018 21:27

I'm a politician is just a euphemism these days for I was too stupid to become a partner at a law firm though isn't? No wonder most acts of Parliament are completely unsuitable for you know, actually creating reasonably coherent law. Really, legislative qualifications? It is almost as if he doesn't know the first thing about the English legal system or you know, why we have a bloody parliament in the first place: here's a clue-it isn't because we want a small legislative qualified elite to dictates our laws. Must be on glue.

AreYouTerfEnough · 01/04/2018 21:51

Aw bless. The libdems thinking they’re still relevant. It’s a bit sad really.

SilverySurfer · 01/04/2018 21:53

I would rather let the LibDims know what I think of them - they are politically insignificant. Hope they are reading this thread.

NewYearNewMe18 · 01/04/2018 21:55

Not another bloody trans tread?
Christ almighty there are some sodding obsessives on this forum.

lljkk · 01/04/2018 21:55

FFS, another anti-trans thread.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/04/2018 22:00

The libdem party died the day Cleggy started crawling up call me Dave's arse.
After making out he cared about the poor and vulnerable, so I wouldn't take any notice of those muppets.
However that's another thread.

yetanothertranswoman · 01/04/2018 22:00

FFS, another anti-trans thread

This is not an anti-trans thread. It's posted by a representative of the Lib Dems who has no issue with the current goings on.

People might not have seen some of the transactivism going on out there. A trans activist stopped a woman from holding a clothes swap because they didn't like her views on self ID. So they harassed the pub and got them to cancel it.

A trans activist has complained to Parliament because someone in Parliament was daring to have a meeting discussing self ID.

Trans representatives of the Green party and the Labour party are blocking trans people who dare to question what they say - even though trans people who know a lot about the process know when they are talking rubbish.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 01/04/2018 22:02

I’d like to see the full twitter feed.

Who trusts a politician? Trust has to be earned. It takes time. I see no reason to trust this politician.

titchy · 01/04/2018 22:07

Since when did politicians draft legislation anyway? That's the role of civil servants. Maybe as a LibDem they're not entirely sure what politicians actually do, not having had much experience.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/04/2018 22:09

I don't trust anyone unless I've known them for at least 10 years, so I certainly don't trust an a strange upper upper class Oxford graduate who has never seen a poor day in their lives. Never been awake worrying over how theyre going to pay a bill or put a decent pair of shoes on the child's feet.
How dare they make out they know what it's like for ordinary folk.

user1471517900 · 01/04/2018 22:28

I honestly see nothing wrong with what they've said. The point above doesn't actually put any arguments forward (in that post) but says "go look somewhere on the internet". So while dismissive there, the MP doesn't have much to argue against.

AnneElliott · 01/04/2018 23:38

That's total nonsense. Politicians don't draft legislation. Parliamentary Counsel does that, with policy instructions from civil servants.

All politicians have to do is read the speech their officials drafted, and try to have a basic grasp of what the legislation actually means. Although any difficult questions can be answered with "I'll write to the Hon Member" which means 'my civil servants will write to the Hon member'.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 01/04/2018 23:43

Can I ask people who post "ffs another anti trans thread" etc - what is stopping you from just leaving the thread? Did you realise you don't have to post on every thread?

To the OP - obviously he thinks we're just a bunch of dim mummies with nothing to talk about except bake sales and nappy rash, he might be surprised to learn how many of us have more 'legislative qualifications' than him. A man thinks women can't possibly be smarter than him - imagine my shock Hmm

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/04/2018 01:16

Pfft it's just a special interest group within the libdems.

TiffanyDoggett · 02/04/2018 01:29

@titchy
Maybe as a LibDem they're not entirely sure what politicians actually do, not having had much experience.

It seems quite a reasonable response to a pretty unpleasant post just before.

TerranceandPhilip · 02/04/2018 02:31

he might be surprised to learn how many of us have more 'legislative qualifications' than him

If that number is more than one, he wouldn't be the only one surprised, given most of the (unchallenged) bull-shit legal advice posted on here

soluna · 02/04/2018 03:46

What's wrong with what they said?

They questioned the qualifications of anonymous posters on a parenting forum.

The person they were replying to was aggressive and rude and said "we see you" which immediately makes them standout as a prize twat.

Bumpitybumper · 02/04/2018 05:02

Confused I hate this kind of comment and find it fundamentally sexist. Mumsnet has literally millions of users with diverse backgrounds and a range of skills and qualifications. I hear these kind of sweeping comments in real life too targeted at MN devised to undermine women and remove their voice. Silly women bitching on an internet forum about things they know nothing about... Confused

soluna · 02/04/2018 05:06

How can a comment be "fundamentally sexist" when sex is not mentioned.

This is a forum "By parents, for parents". Nothing to do with removing women's voices or anyone's voice; just questioning the qualifications of anonymous internet users.

Bumpitybumper · 02/04/2018 05:42

Soluna it's sexist because Mumsnet is unsurprisingly dominated by women. Yes you do get the odd man posting on here, but the vast majority are women. To pretend otherwise is ridiculous.

He was questioning what 'legislative qualifications' millions of women have and strongly insinuating that we mustn't be adequately qualified to pursue this issue. We aren't simply anonymous internet users but real humans with a vast array of knowledge and experience between us.

I have never actually posted on a trans thread before but I had to respond to this as it was such a blatant attempt to dismiss and discredit this great forum and all the intelligent, well informed women that post on here.
