Just to clarify there is coke not come in my Bacardi!

Sashkin · 30/03/2018 19:09

Davros I was saying that we, as Londoners, don’t want to talk to other locals. I do not see other locals talking to each other either, it is not really the done thing. Whereas in other places, like the Sussex village I grew up in, somebody walks in and the whole pub shouts “oh look it’s Brian! Hello Brian, pint of the usual? How was Jemima’s sponsored swim on Wednesday?”

Puppy it was less the admiration (obviously PFB is amazing Grin) and more the pulling up a chair and sitting down at our table which made me Hmm. I was polite, and apologised for DS, but I was also quite glad when she got up and we could get back to our food!

YouCantGetHereFromThere · 30/03/2018 19:09

Probably once every week or two. I usually drink Diet Coke, sometimes with rum in it.

I should really drink craft beers as they're a huge thing here at the moment, but I just don't like beer much. DH drinks whatever is on cask that day (am in the US, so there's usually only one cask beer).

isseywithcats · 30/03/2018 19:11

once a week as our bike club meets in a pub dark rum and coke (2)

PuppyMonkey · 30/03/2018 19:12

Bacardi and come Grin

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 30/03/2018 19:13

We have a regular Sunday lunch walk over to the pub in the next village for a pint of real ale, or two.
Go into town couple of times a year & we generally have cocktails or G&T's, bottle of red if we're eating too.

frasier · 30/03/2018 19:14

Used to go 2 or 3 times a week on the way home from work. I'd meet DH or go with colleagues. I'd have a glass of wine if they had a decent one or a coke or orange juice if not.

Since DS I don't go at all!

Davros · 30/03/2018 19:14

Sashkin I think that says more about you than anything to do with you being Londoners. I'm a Londoner too and I think comments like your first one, that implies all Londoners are unfriendly, is uncalled for and inaccurate. If you don't want to talk to other people then that's fine but don't generalise unkindly about the rest of the city's population

SoozC · 30/03/2018 19:17

We have a nice little local very near to us. We go once or twice a week. I'll have a rosé spritzer or a pint of ale, depending on my mood. We'll play a game or three of darts or join in with the pub quiz when it's on. Sometimes we'll chat to the others in there.

bluemoonchances · 30/03/2018 19:17

A good local is a fantastic thing to have. If you start going weekly you'll soon start saying hello to people and making friends, don't be afraid to chat to the regulars, they were newbies once! I use to have a great local where I went a few times a week to socialise, it was like family in there! We arranged charity events and social activities outside of the pub. Unfortunately gradually people moved on , including myself , so I no longer have a local, I miss it! Embrace it! One day DD will move out and it's be great for you to already have a new social thing going on.

Mammyloveswine · 30/03/2018 19:18

I love the pub! Go a few times a month but nearly always to eat as we have a 2 year olf and 12 week old.

Used to go along and do the quiz before kids, on a monday and Thursday nights.

Tuesdays i used to catch up with my work colleagues. Always drink wine!

bluemoonchances · 30/03/2018 19:20

Oh and I drink G'n' slimline T, fruity bottled cider over ice, or Diet Coke. Wine gets me plastered far too quickly! Confused

Springtrolls · 30/03/2018 19:21

Well clearly the locals do talk to each other, if not the old lady wouldn’t have sat down.

But like I said. London pub. People talk to each other. Bar staff aren’t moody fuckers and actually enjoy talking to customers. Doubt they would come and sit with us when on a break or it’s quiet.
Not just my local either. I visit other pubs in London and people chat. But maybe we don’t come across As moody.

onemorecakeplease · 30/03/2018 20:35

Hardly ever! If I’m having a drink while out for dinner I will have a raspberry gin and lemonade or a Diet Coke.

BetterEatCheese · 30/03/2018 20:39

Once a month ish and I drink either -
Vodka lime and soda
Gin and tonic
Vodka red bull
Prosecco if we are sharing a bottle

RapunzelIsHere · 30/03/2018 20:41

Every couple of months. I either drink gin and lemonade/orange juice, vodka and Diet Coke or wine.

Kenworthington · 30/03/2018 20:45

Every other week dh and I go to the local. My drink of choice is generally white wine but I don’t drink it in the pub, unless
It’s a fancy pub (which it’s not despite its new farrow and ball mayobee and gin list). Anyway I digress, my order is double sipsmiths with bitter lemon

RapunzelIsHere · 30/03/2018 20:47

Every couple of months. I either drink gin and lemonade/orange juice, vodka and Diet Coke or wine.

wendz86 · 30/03/2018 20:49

Once every couple of weeks at lunch at work and either have a glass of white wine or a G&T.

PutUpWithRain · 30/03/2018 21:37

I live in an area that's renowned for the number of pubs it has. I am on first name terms with at least seven 'resident old man who always sits at the bar on his own, reading the paper', although I go there to write, fuelled by a pint of Aspall's.

I bloody love my pubs.

Heartofglass12345 · 30/03/2018 21:43

Oh I so miss the pub. Me and my friends used to go quite a lot. I used to go with my ex too. We would just sit and talk, or do the pub quiz and come last lol. Those were the days Smile

Heartofglass12345 · 30/03/2018 21:45

Oh and i would usually have a southern comfort and Diet Coke. I haven't been for aaaaages, moved away from my friends and haven't made new ones, and married with 2 kids so don't get the chance to go with my husband although he's not a huge fan of pubs.

Farmerswife36 · 30/03/2018 21:47

Hardly ever . Once every two or three months and always drink white wine

DontCallMeBaby · 30/03/2018 21:50

Not often enough. I love pubs, DH less so - I have four years until I can take DD drinking with me.

My fallback pub drink is cider, but I’ll drink wine or a G&T occasionally. Leave cocktails for home or cocktail bars. Though I drank tea in our current local for years - used to drive DD to gymnastics and wait in the pub. We then moved to within five minutes walk of the pub ... and the gymnastics venue moved. To an area with one dodgy looking pub, twenty minutes from home, cue a lot of sitting in the car. Grr.

Last time I went to the local was Christmas Eve (mulled wine). Must try harder.

AlannaOfTrebond · 30/03/2018 21:55

About 3 times a week.

DH and I go together when he's home and catch up on time together away from tv's and computers. Sometimes we meet friends, sometimes chat to other regulars or the bar staff.

DH works away a lot and I work on my own so regularly nip over to the local in the evening for a couple just to speak to another human. I love the sense of community in a local pub - and a couple of pints of lager don't go amiss either!
