To ask if you leave a carrot out for the Easter Bunny?

We had a meeting yesterday at work and one of the guys said he needs to pop to the shops to buy a carrot to leave out for the Easter Bunny.
The rest of us hadn't heard of anyone doing it before! He's not local so perhaps a regional difference, I'm not sure.

Anyway, do you leave a carrot out for the Easter Bunny in the same way you would for Rudolf at Christmas? And how does the Easter Bunny get in? Does he also hop down the chimney, or perhaps sneak in through the cat flap?

We never have but now I feel guilty about it Grin

Wellthisunexpected · 29/03/2018 22:05

No. We don't 'do' the Easter bunny (but do do father Christmas).

LifeBeginsAtGin · 29/03/2018 22:05

Hell no. Christmas is enough - don't start new traditions for your own sanity.

BeyondThePage · 29/03/2018 22:05

no

(the Easter bunny does not exist in any way, shape or form in our house).

UtterlyDesperate · 29/03/2018 22:06

We never did this - but we've had an "Easter tree" (branches with buds on and Easter decorations hanging on it) since the 60s- I've noticed the last few years that it's becoming a more common "thing" now

Smellyjo · 29/03/2018 22:07

No, but I had a Canadian friend whose children seemed to genuinely believe in the Easter bunny until they were about ten...

SweetPeaPods · 29/03/2018 22:07

Was he pulling your leg?
Definitely no carrot getting left out here! Purely church and chocolate eating!

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 29/03/2018 22:08

We have the Hare on the Stair

If he sees you misbehaving you get no chocolate

For a whole year

Afreshcuppateaplease · 29/03/2018 22:08

No Hmm

ObiJuanKenobi · 29/03/2018 22:10

Haha no he wasn't pulling my leg he was very serious about it!!
We've never really done anything before other than church and an afternoon roast dinner. But we're relatively new parents so I wasn't sure if it was the done thing, we've bought little chocolate Easter eggs for the children and tomorrow we are having a craft afternoon with friends DC to make Easter cards 🐰

No absolutely never heard of this before.

greathat · 29/03/2018 22:14

I told my daughter that unlike Father Christmas the Easter bunny is made up rubbish. How on earth would a bunny bring chocolate. They are not that clever :)

RatRolyPoly · 29/03/2018 22:16

No, but I'm going to now!!

dementedpixie · 29/03/2018 22:19

Have never done the Easter bunny here. Don't do church or roast dinner either. We do have chocolate eggs though

BluePheasant · 29/03/2018 22:19

Wonder if he needed anything else from the shop or just bought a single carrot.

Armi · 29/03/2018 22:19

The Easter Bunny only visits Grandma’s house and generally brings a new vest and an Easter egg. He never visits Lincolnshire (probably because rabbits get shot in Lincolnshire) although we do buy DD an egg.

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 29/03/2018 22:20

Is he Dutch or German? It seems to be a bigger thing on the continent.

littlebillie · 29/03/2018 22:22

I love the Hare on the stair really is that a thing

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 29/03/2018 22:22

When was an au pair in Switzerland they had the Easter bunny. The eggs were left in the garden.

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 29/03/2018 22:23

Little Billie

I made up the Hare on the Stair.

Hmmm, could be a money spinner.

Gunpowder · 29/03/2018 22:25

No fricking way. DD2 is still angry that Rudolph ate her carrot. All vegetables are staying safely in the fridge.

Gunpowder · 29/03/2018 22:25

LOVE Hare on the Stair. Stealing it.

converseandjeans · 29/03/2018 22:28

Nope. Easter egg hunt and church and lunch with friends. Easter bunny is a new one on me.

Easter Confused
Teddy1970 · 29/03/2018 22:32

No, and I'm not going to either! It seems every man and his dog wants to turn it into Christmas in the Spring, my SIL does Easter presents, sends Happy Easter cards and decorates the house with Easter type decorations, I refuse to be drawn into it, my DC will get an egg and we'll do a hunt in the garden and that's it!
