Tell me your creepiest story

I was reading an article on Facebook the other day about children saying creepy things to their parents in relation to a 'past life' that they had remembered.
I'm not sure how much I believe if this but they're fun to read so I'd like to know your creepiest stories that made your hairs stand up and sent shivers down your spine at the time. Just for the sake of it Smile

I'll start. I was bathing 2 of my children (aged 3&4 at the time) and I just popped into my bedroom next door to grab their towels. All of a sudden I heard screaming so I ran back in and you three year old was standing up begging me to get her out (this was unusual as she usually hates getting out the bath and wants to stay in longer) my 4 year old then said "she's scared" when I asked what she was scared of he pointed to the window and said "that man out there..... he looks very scarey" Confused

Yes @mrsfrumble is right. You have to read the whole story to get it.

Mrsfrumble · 07/04/2018 16:01

That's why I was so impressed! I've read plenty of creepy pasta and no sleep stories in my time, and most of them start strongly then fizzle out because the writer doesn't know how to tie things up. It was really satisfying to read a story where everything came together so well.

KathyBeale · 07/04/2018 18:19

I didn't like the left/right game story either. I gave up halfway through (because it is LONG) and skipped to the end, and then didn't really get it and I couldn't be bothered to go back!

YassQueen · 07/04/2018 18:22

I think you need to read the full thing to really 'get' it.

I'd love to see it made into a horror film.

Placemarking. These threads are my favourite!

The house in in now is my family home.I grew up here.Stuff always happened
Anyway the past few days in sitting on the sofa.Back to the door. And I can sense someone behind me.

And the other day, I was here alone and as clear as day someone coughed in to my ear.I turned and there was no one there..

xkatie27x · 07/04/2018 18:56

My dogs used to growl at a corner of a room. They would quite often bark at things, but rarely growl. When they started up in the middle of the night I used to hide under the covers Blush

Shizzlestix · 07/04/2018 18:57

Left/right game has the worst ending ever, what a complete waste of an hour!

My eldest DS used to swim for the county and training sessions were early usually 6am.

We were leaving after a session so approx. 7am bright spring morning on a country road near the coast- so no trees or anything ,

Suddenly without any warning an old fashioned WW2 type plane with the distinctive RAF circle insignias passed right in front of the car flying really low.

We both went 'Wow'... must be an air show on.

However as I glanced in rear view mirror to take a second look there was nothing .

Then my son turned to me and said the same thing I had just thought 'There was absolutely no noise with that plane'

bobstersmum · 07/04/2018 19:30

Oooh I love this thread!

supersop60 · 07/04/2018 19:48

This story didn't happen to me (and it may be an urban myth) but I love it.
A lady used to regularly dream of a beautiful house; she would wander round the rooms and feel really happy there. One day when looking for a house to buy IRL, she came across the house of her dreams and arranged a viewing. Once inside the house, she said to the owners " I feel like I have been here before"
The owners replied "You have, we've seen you and we thought you were a ghost"
I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got the details wrong. Such a sweet story.

HeartStrings · 07/04/2018 19:59

Ooh thank you for bumping the thread again. Now I have more spooks to read later on when I'm in bed... just before I go to sleep regretting reading the stories 😂 as you do lol

In 2011 I was on a huge beach with a shallow bay. It was one of those where you can walk out to sea and after 300 metres it is still only below your knees. To the left of me some 50 metres away a human shape rose out of the water and stood tall, in silhouette looking away from me, before gradually sinking down and disappearing again.

Wow Katchit, that sounds fascinating! Did the figure look like it was made of water? Any features? Did it look solid?
Sorry for all the questions, would love to know more!

Chapterandverse · 07/04/2018 20:39

My brother's wife died 18 months ago. They had no children, though she had suffered a few miscarriages, the first one being about 8/9 years ago.

They have a small dog and my bro always sends me pix of her as we all love her.

Around Christmas time he sent me a pic of her wearing a woolly hat and a pair of reflective glasses... we laughed at her being a cool pup etc and that was that.

The next day I looked at the photo again. I zoomed right in, because in the glasses there is a reflection. It's his kitchen table. But sitting at the table is a figure shaped very like my sister in law, with a small blonde child standing at her side.

I sent this to a friend of mine who is very in touch with Angels and she completely agreed it was my SIL and at least one of their beautiful babies - she could see orbs I could not.

It comforted me to know SIL is still looking after my brother. But I have never told him this or showed him for fear of upsetting him.

fcekinghell · 07/04/2018 20:51

I've told this before under another username.

My late grandmother was in a care home in her latter years. She was admitted to hospital, I can't remember what for, but possibly a fall. She was due to be discharged and my mother and someone from the care home arrived on the ward at visiting hours to collect my DG.

In the bed opposite was someone else from the care home, lets call her Margaret. My mum commented "Oh look, there's Margaret"

My gran said very matter of factly "yes, she's going to die tonight"

My mum and the carer tried to shush my gran as after all the woman was within earshot and had family visiting her. According to my mum, margaret was sitting up and talking and although looking frail she did not look at death's door.

My gran would not be shushed and kept insisting that Margaret was going to die because she had a 'black cloud' surrounding her. My mum tried to laugh it off and did the 'she's a bit nuts' sign to the family at Margaret's bed. My mum was worried that DG was maybe not ready to return to the care home but anyway she was still discharged and Margaret remained.

The next day, my mum went to the care home to visit my gran who was back in the care home. The carer came running up and said "Margaret died last night!"

The carer and my mum were in total shock and the carer joked that she was going to stay well away from my gran.

But when my mum mentioned it to my gran, my gran just shrugged and said "I told you"

10 or 20 years before my gran would have been freaked out so it's very wierd how she wasn't at all frightend. In fact, its kind of reassuring too.

My mum says that about 40 years ago before I was born, when my DGGran died, DG saw her mother ine the corridor waving goodbye so maybe my DG was a bit woo.

As for me, I often get feelings of deja vu, that I've seen or done something before as things are said or done exactly as I dreamt them word for word or step by step

Mamabear1475 · 07/04/2018 20:54

Placemarking to read later when I'm in bed Grin

Katchit · 07/04/2018 20:56

Hi 73Kittycat - the shape was humanoid (but not like a human bather today) male, around 6 feet 3 inches tall, slim and very fit. He looked solid as far as I can tell. I could not see what they were wearing, but momentarily they turned their head about 60 degrees to the left and I recall a very angular face. I also got a feeling that they were mute - not sure why, just one of those feelings. It was a bit difficult to make anything out as the sun was low above them and so they were silhouetted. They were certainly alive, nothing inanimate thats for sure!. It was off the Norfolk coast, near Wells.

PercyPigAddict · 07/04/2018 21:04

I couldnt be bothered reading the left right game because I want to hear true stories and that was so clearly a creative writing exercise. Can ayone summarise the story for the curious-but-lazy (or slow readers)? Grin

73kittycat73 · 07/04/2018 22:10

Thanks for your reply Katchit. I wonder if it was a merman?! Sounds fascinating anyway. Were you scared at all?

Bluelonerose · 07/04/2018 22:37

When I was little I used to be scared to go upstairs at home. There was a "funny man" on the landing. Weirdly he didn't have a face he had an old style hessian potato sack as a face and was wearing a black turtle neck, brown leather jacket and a mortar board. He would do anything just stand there like a statue. One day my nan came upstairs with me and said go away funny man and he disappeared and I haven't seen him since despite my parents still living in the same house.
I'm not entirely sure that wasn't just childhood imagination though.

My friend thinks my house is haunted. As you open my front door you can see straight up my stairs where I have a full length mirror. Opened the door to let her in when I was alone in the house and she said whose that bloke upstairs (she swears she saw someone in the mirror) as she says this we hear a door shut upstairs. Ide come from upstairs to answer the door and only my bedroom door was open and was still open when we went upstairs.

HasAnyoneGotAProblemWithThat · 07/04/2018 22:47

Love these threads but never know why I read them late at night!

VedderEdder · 07/04/2018 23:01

I need to know if the Disco boy was in Hull? I've seen him too

Turnocks34 · 07/04/2018 23:02

My granny isn’t one for dramatics etc. Very matter of fact and level headed etc.

Anyway, we own a holiday home in a remote part of Ireland. OH and I were there with my grandparents before I had children and we’d been to Galway, which is around a two hour drive mainly through small, Irish country lanes. I was following my Granny, whose driving with my Grandad, so we’re drving through a small town, limited lights, when my grandma performed an emergency break with such force it’s a wonder I didn’t fly into the back of her. Her and my grandad jump out of the car. My OH and I jump out too and run to the front of their car; my grandma is white as a sheet, my grandad is looking into a ditch to the right of him but very clearly shaken too. They were both adamant they had just hit a young woman and her child. They felt the car bang, they both described the way the woman looked etc. No damage to the car. Obviously they searched, and they callled the Garda. The Garda arrived and took a report of sorts but basically said that the road is known to be haunted Hmm.

ReanimatedSGB · 07/04/2018 23:06

I liked the Left Right Game because it was a proper story. I much prefer well paced, well plotted creepy fiction to 'honestly this is really true because it happened to a friend of my mum's neighbour's cousin' stuff.
