Missed flight. Next cheapest is 380. Can anyone find a way to get me to Dublin by 8pm today? Plane, train, automobile?

Yes, in Southend.

Creatureofthenight · 29/03/2018 13:20

It’s in Southend so need to get train from London

Reallycantbebothered · 29/03/2018 13:20

There's an 8pm ferry from Holyhead to Dublin tonight
You can get train from Euston to Holyhead 14:10 or 15:10...would get there in time for ferry

SlothMama · 29/03/2018 13:20

It's an airport in Essex

CotswoldStrife · 29/03/2018 13:22

If you have missed a flight, presumably you are at an airport now - is there a travel agent there than can help, they can book ferries as well surely?

AnathemaPulsifer · 29/03/2018 13:23

If you have to be there by 8pm you can do it but its going to cost you.

Basically this. I think you're best bet is to nab the Southend flight and then get the train over there. Direct from Liverpool Street in about an hour.

*YOUR (damn you autocorrect)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/03/2018 13:25

Anathema
Stena lines wasn't full

PuntCuffin · 29/03/2018 13:26

Any flight to Belfast from the London airport you are at? You didn't say which. Can you drive on arrival if you get to Belfast?

Maryz · 29/03/2018 13:27

If it's absolutely urgent, pay the 380.

Going all over the country to save a couple of hundred will ultimately cost you more.

No ferry will get you there by 8 pm - and the weather is awful so boats can be delayed.

ShellyBoobs · 29/03/2018 13:28

£220 from Opodo for Southampton to Dublin flight at 18:45 arriving 20:05

Train from London to Southampton is, what, 1.5hrs?

Should be easy.

TatianaLarina · 29/03/2018 13:29

If you’re at Heathrow, there’s a flight to Cork at 13.50...

Maryz · 29/03/2018 13:29

Flying to Belfast is a good idea, but you'd need to be on the next flight to get the 6 pm train (arrives Connolly 8.15 - may be too late?)

TatianaLarina · 29/03/2018 13:29

£356 ^^

afreshnewname · 29/03/2018 13:29

Am I the only one desperate to know what's happening at 8pm?

AnathemaPulsifer · 29/03/2018 13:31

Chaz but ferries simply won't get her there in time? Trains to port don't seem to work out for timings either - leaving either now or too late according to google maps.

Reallycantbebothered · 29/03/2018 13:32

But there are direct Virgin trains from Euston ( at 14:10 and 15:10) to Holyhead port....where ferry is at 8pm!
And ferry at 8 has spaces

TatianaLarina · 29/03/2018 13:32

£302 one way ^

AnathemaPulsifer · 29/03/2018 13:33

I really wouldn't leave the airport you're in until you've figured this out. I think you're going to have to pay whatever it costs, go later/tomorrow or not go. And do check that your return leg is still valid.

YourWanMajella · 29/03/2018 13:33

Yes but it leaves Holyhead at 8pm, so I'm guessing it doesn't get to Dublin by 8pm!

TatianaLarina · 29/03/2018 13:33

She has to be there at 8pm.

Butterymuffin · 29/03/2018 13:35

Maryz is right. If it's that important, pay the 380 and make sure you get there.

AnathemaPulsifer · 29/03/2018 13:38

really But she needs to arrive by 8?
