They are disgusting, right? Urrrrrrrggghhhhh.

OP posts:

missy81 Some years ago I noticed how thick and stodgy the filling had become. I was saddened slightly that the runniness of my childhood CEs had vanished.

A year ago I had a creme egg and they taste so different now. Sweeter, like most of Cadbury's chocolate. Made me sad.

I can no longer eat chocolate but even now a part of me feels little pangs for how UK chocolate is being screwed up. I hate Mondalez and Kraft for wrecking Terry's Choc Orange and Toblerone bars.

Freyanna · 29/03/2018 23:06

My sister surprised me with one today!

It was lush. Smile

Katedotness1963 · 29/03/2018 23:15

Absolutely disgusting, as is most Cadbury's these days. Selling out the company has ruined it.

SweetMoon · 29/03/2018 23:21

Used to love love love creme eggs. They are foul now, urrrrgggghhhh.

I shall never again buy another one.

savagebaggagemaster · 29/03/2018 23:23

When my daughter was 6, the word 'creme' was in her spelling test. Hmm

Cactuar · 29/03/2018 23:26

Have not rtft - only read the op - but just came on to say they are the worst fucking most disgusting things in the entire world!!

moofolk · 29/03/2018 23:38

Gross. Horrible. Nasty.

LiteraryDevil · 30/03/2018 08:27

Thanks to this post I've been thinking about them all night. Luckily I have some in the fridge Smile

LiteraryDevil · 30/03/2018 08:28

Why don't we start a petition with Cadbury's to bring the old recipe back?

GladAllOver · 30/03/2018 09:54

Why don't we start a petition with Cadbury's to bring the old recipe back?

Because it would be a waste of time and effort. They make more profit with the new recipes, and that's all they are interested in.

FairiesVsPixies · 30/03/2018 10:13

I'd definitely sign it, as would loads of people I know. I used to love the Dairy Milk chocolate Sad not the disgusting cheap waxy crap they use now.

Notevilstepmother · 30/03/2018 14:06

Cadbury chocolate isn’t just wrong since they changed it Sad

The use of sugary stuff during sex is likely to result in a nasty bout of thrush Envy not envy ewww

driveninsanebythehubby · 02/04/2018 00:23

YABU - I love them! I haven’t really noticed a change to the creme eggs this year..... but I bought a pack of mini eggs a couple of months ago (and I’m usually obsessed with them) - I spat them out and gave the rest of the packet to my 12 year old son who will eat anything that’s not nailed down at the minute! They were horrid - the shells I agree about the weird powdery texture, not crispy at all. The chocolate has most definitely changed, I don’t care whether they admit it or not!

To the person that mentioned Mars eggs - OMG YES! They were amazing (and deliciously sickly too). Galaxy caramel eggs are good too.

OverTheMountain42 · 02/04/2018 01:47

I hate them, I love chocolate and am not fussy but these I think I'd leave if they were the last chocolate on earth. My DB cannot stand them either, we thought we were odd as kids.

DS got one today, he's chocolate mad but like me took one bite and spat it out.

All the more for all you lovers.

eachtigertires · 02/04/2018 02:07

YANBU they are disgusting. I have always hated them even as a child. The middle makes me nauseated. Yuck! Lots of people I know love them though. I just don’t get the appeal.

Uniglo18 · 02/04/2018 07:52

Can we all bombard Cadbury's on social media asking them to bring the old recipe back. There are so many Cadbury hate threads on mumsnet that we could link to on their Twitter page. Print out and post these threads to their CEO, make it a campaign to get decent chocolate back in time for Christmas.

What do you think?! Easter Grin

MongerTruffle · 02/04/2018 07:56

Uniglo They’re not going to change the recipe back. Using cheaper ingredients allows them to make more profit, and that’s all they care about.

AmethystRaven · 02/04/2018 07:58

There used to be a lovely contrast between the chocolate and the goo but now the chocolate is too sweet and it's just a ball of sickly.

LiteraryDevil · 02/04/2018 07:58

Uniglo it's always worth a try. I'm heading over to their page now to do just that.

Uniglo18 · 02/04/2018 07:59

Even if loads of people refuse to buy Cadbury's anymore? I have switched to Lidl and Aldi chocolate instead which is much nicer.
Sad

Uniglo18 · 02/04/2018 08:01

LiteraryDevil thank you! I'm doing it too. I miss the Cadbury's of my childhood! Sigh!

LiteraryDevil · 02/04/2018 08:03

Uniglo I tried the Aldi dairy fine stuff and thought it was the vilest chocolate ever.

80sMum · 02/04/2018 08:06

Creme eggs are revolting! I tried one last year, after having not eaten one for about 25 years, and it was absolutely awful! So incredibly sickly sweet that it set my teeth on edge! I only had one small bite and chucked the rest in the bin!

DameDaffodil · 02/04/2018 08:08

Does anyone remember toffee and mallow eggs? No one ever knows what I'm talking about but they were lovely, wish you could still buy them. They were around in the 80s I think. They were the same size as creme eggs and had a marshmallow and toffee filling (as the name suggests!) Please tell me someone else remembers them!

errorofjudgement · 02/04/2018 08:17

Yes!! Every year I look to see if there are any toffee sand mallow eggs. They were my favourite.
